Bey Logan and Jimmy Moy are developing Shadows of the Past (previous title: Shadows on the Sun) as a project that will mark a radical departure from Seagal's tough-guy persona. Scripted by Logan ("The Medallion"), it will feature Seagal as a burned-out former intelligence officer who runs a medical clinic in Japan just after WWII...

More information (August 9, 2005): SHADOWS OF THE PAST – Starting with 30.07 - Director: Michael Keusch , DOP : Geoffrey Hall. Production Designer Corvin Cristian. Starring: Steven Seagal (source: Timecop)

More information (October 8, 2005): Bey Logan's name no longer seems to be attached to this project. Credited writer is Joe Halpin only.

Black Dawn - (source: suziwong, from The Northwest Herald). Produced by Sony/ScreenGems Productions (source: gunslinger, from The Hollwyood Reporter)

Plot: He's playing a former CIA operative who has been framed for killing so many fellow agents, he's become the object of a shoot-on-sight directive. And as if that weren't enough to keep him busy, he's happened onto a deal between Colombian arms dealers and Middle Eastern terrorists who want plutonium for a suitcase bomb to blow L.A. to smithereens.

On IMDB: He plays "Jonathan Cold", so it's a safe bet that Black Dawn is the SEQUEL to THE FOREIGNER (source: TDWoj, from the highly unreliable IMDB)

Mercenary - (source: suziwong, via Family Room Entertainment)
WRITER: Steve Collins.
PRODUCERS: Randall Emmett and George Furla.
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER: Steven Seagal.
DISTRIBUTOR: Nu Image

RELEASE DATE: TBA 2005 (USA)
(VIDEO PREMIERE)
BUDGET: $20 million (USA) (note: above it says the budget was only $15 million)
A working title for this film was Repentance

Note: "dtv" means direct to video/dvd

TD-I thought Mercenary will film in South Africa now?I know it was Poland at one stage. It should be Poland if the film's premise is correct, you're right.

I sure hope the info about Black Dawn was true!Sounds a crazy,if a little stupid, premise for a film.Just seems strange we have heard no more about it.

I can't find any information about it, either, other than what Suzi provided us from the Northwest Herald last year, which also gave us the information about Today You Die (formerly: Heraphant), which I thought he was supposed to be filming now, but I guess not (confusion rules, as ever).

I'll update the information and post corrections as soon as something comes in - but if my two best snoops - Super-Sleuth Serena and Super-Spy Suzi - can't track him, I don't know what I'll do!

TD: Do you know what's up with Unleashed?

As far as I know, from the information collected last year, it's a dead project. Either that, or it was renamed to something else, and neither I, nor my trusty snoops, can find out what.

Thanks TD for keeping this list current

It's current as of the last bit of information I had last year. It's been rather distressing not being able to get more up-to-date information, and it's already almost three weeks into the New Year!

He's got to be somewhere, doing something!

Oh, here's an idea - now that the foxhounds in England are unemployed, maybe we can train them to find new quarry - as in, Steven! :D

As far as any of my trusty snoops could find out, there is no corroborating evidence that Steven was ever in Luxembourg. Someone was playing silly buggers over at Aint it Cool News, or was given false information, I think.

Well, that was a long time ago, and obviously, nothing has come of it since we haven't seen anything called "Unleashed"... unless Unleashed turned into Out of Reach? That might be a possibility.
