Submerged budget

I agree 15 million is no where near enough. I will not believe that Steven is going to do a movie with mutated creatures until I see it. I hope this is not true.

The news just gets worse and worse... so, Ms. Angel, you were saying about how Steven chooses his scripts. What's the spiritual angle on mutated zombies in a submarine?

-TD, now going off into a corner and muttering, "the horror, the horror...."

I am not too excited about these so called creatures either...
Look at water world!
Now there was a big budget which didn't pay off, oh my...
I however I look forward to any of Sensei's films...
Dunno much about budgets really, though...
However, I think HTK had a small one and it was very good and did pretty well, not many special effects were needed for that one, though...
Just Seagal's talented presence to wow our socks off, eh?
So a small budget can be a good thing...
Good Luck to Steven!
I support him, and wish him the best possible results! :)

Disciple

come get some
Well, the thing about the budget is that a good director can "do a lot with a little" if you see what I mean. Especially when it comes to horror movies.

Although it has to be said $15 million is tiny, and as the saying goes it probably wouldn't even cover the catering bill for a typical big budget Hollywood production. The salaries for some actors alone are as much as $20-25 million!

But Hickox can be a good director. I'm a fan of some of his earlier stuff, especially the very underrated Waxworks (wax figures from all the old horror movies, like Dracula and the Wolfman, come to life to wreak havoc! It's a really fun movie). So here's hoping it's a success.

It will be cool to see SS try a horror/sci-fi movie for once though, I'm surprised it's taken him this long...

Good idea, Serena...

But Seagal as a vampire?

hmmmmm

Vampire movies in the old days were quite romantic...

Bite my neck, Steven, baby! :D

Make me all yours!

;) ;) ;)

A good director can make a good movie on a small budget only if he has good material to work with. The scripts for Steven's last couple of efforts have not been the greatest, on a scale from spectacularly awful to adequately mediocre. But a bad to mediocre director with a bad script and a small budget - well, you do the math.

There's nothing stopping Steven from doing a good film on a low budget, if he'd only pick a good script. But he doesn't - it's as if he no longer has the ability to discern what's good and what isn't. It's the horrible writing in the scripts that's driving me wild. Like, where are these writers coming from, and how does such rubbish even get a second look, let alone be bought and produced? Oi....

Mutant zombies on a submarine... nothing about that sounds good (unless maybe Joss Whedon writes the script. He, at least, would know what to do with mutant zombies on a submarine. Anyone else, and we're looking at an Ed Wood production. Gack.).

-TD, horrified beyond belief at the sheer awfulness about to be inflicted on a long-suffering fanbase

Go ahead and edit me, Serena...I'll forgive you...:D

:D I'm so sweet, Lotus, how could you not? :D

That's okay, Lotus. I'll let it go this time (can't say the same for anyone else, though :D). Besides, I'm not so sure biting on the neck constitutes a "romantic love post". ;) Sounds a bit more on the kinky side, to me. :D

I'm working on it, eh... :D

Actually, action stories in a 'real world' setting is not something I've ever done, as I write mostly in the science fiction and fantasy genres (move over, JRR Tolkein!). My main concern is getting 'tagged' for researching the CIA and the Secret Service on the web! - which is what I would need to do to get at least some of the details reasonably correct!

Just for fun, one day, I wrote a little outline for a fanfic Star Wars piece with Steven as a Jedi Knight. Well, he is, isn't he? :D

I actually got some story ideas for possible scripts while watching a few of Steven's movies, but they are not 'action' oriented (though some action is included).

Well, we'll see.

-TD, getting out the notebooks

So,TD,you keep on criticizing instead of offering something more worthy, huh?
