INTRO
*****
First: This movie isn't one of the best Steven Seagal Movies, but it's A LOT BETTER than all movies since Exit Wounds. Its better than Out of Reach, Out for a Kill and better than Into the Sun too! I think there can be a lot of better movies, but i think not only for Steven Seagal Fans this movie is very good watchable.
******
STORY
******
The story is very interesting, its about some brainwashed soldiers... i think you know the story. For me its not only an action movie, its more a thriller, because there is much suspense and much "thriller" style scenes. There is much tempo too. There are only some long scenes in the middle, but if you see the whole movie there is a lot of tempo and suspense.
*****
LOOK
*****
The look is very great, and i watched a lot of really good a-action movies, but i can't find any "bad cgi" in this one. All CGI Scenes and all Action Scenes are done very well. And no scene looked cheap! The explosions are very well for a B-Movie and there are very fast cut scenes, very much slow/fast-motion effects and a very modern stylish movie from the beginning to the end. The colors looked extremely powerfull, and not like in most b-movies.
I can't find any cheap looking scenes, all is done very well.
*****
HUMOR
*****
There isn't a lot humor, but there are some funny scenes and 2-3 funny lines from Steven Seagal. Its ok!
*****
ACTION
*****
First the bad news: There aren't a lot fighting Scenes with Steven Seagal. Only the very short fight with Gary Daniels and a fight at the the ending. But thats the only bad news. We have here a lot of action (Not always involving steven Seagal) but we see him shooting and driving and in 2 short fights. There are a lot of explosions, a car chase and a damaged helicopter. All is done very well for a b-movie and there is a big opera scene at the ending with a lot of actors and there is a scene with a lot of soldiers too, and a submarine that explodes very well. i mean there is a lot of action, and all is done very well. The aciton is very hard too, there is a lot of blood, and we see some very violent scenes.
Like i said the only thing thats not nice is the fact that there aren't much fight scenes with Steven
*****
MUSIC
*****
The music sounds really professional, and overall i can say this is a really nice score, and its one of the better scores for a b-movie. Very nice!
*****
OVERALL
*****
Overall this is really the best movie since exit wounds, a lot of really good action, and very well done. Exploding submarines, crashing helicopter, car chases, shootouts and 2 short fights, all is there.
The only bad thing is, that i wanted more fighting scenes with Steven, but you can have everything, overall it is a really good movie, with a interesting story, and a lot of suspense.
Thumbs up for Steven. Im now really looking forward for the next action movies with Steven and i hope there is a new trailer soon
See you

If you check out some of the other Seagal reviews you can see that they've not always appreciated some of the films he has been involved in but as for Submerged they see it as a return to form as follows:-
The Movie 8
The American Ambassador has been murdered in South America. The CIA are justifiably concerned, they believe the killing to be the handy-work of the twisted Dr.Lehder (Nick Brimble). In order for them to track down Lehder and some army boys he has captured, they have to turn to one man - you guessed it…..the mighty Steven Seagal.
Playing one of his patented ex-CIA/Military guys, Seagal plays Cody who has been in prison as a scapegoat for the American government, he is offered a full pardon if he can locate Lehder and retrieve the data for his sick brainwashing experiments. Seagal puts together his old team of varied ex-soldiers (who are also in prison) for one last mission to finish off Lehder. Among his team are British veteran actor, PH (The Long Good Friday) Moriaty, Vinnie (Snatch) Jones and a beautiful operative, Damita played by the gorgeous Alison (Sky’s Dream Team) King. Tracking down Lehder’s lair, they miss him literally by minutes and rescue the soldiers. They then make their escape on an old submarine, but as the soldiers have been brainwashed it is only a matter of time before they turn on their rescuers.
Director, Anthony (Hellraiser 3, Waxwork) Hickox has crafted a great action movie packed with non-stop shooting and fighting. There is plenty of violence especially from a certain Mr Jones playing his usual cockney thug role. Although you have seen it all before, no one swears like our Vinnie and he brings some light relief to the proceedings. Seagal is his usual quiet self, kicking ass when he has to and generally being himself (a good thing always in my book). Alison King however is a somewhat of a revelation. Known for her role in football drama, Dream Team and starring in soap adverts, she shows a different side to her as operative, Damita. She looks good and carries off some action pretty well. Someone give this lady another action film and see what she can do!!
This is the best film from Seagal in a long time. His direct to DVD efforts have somewhat been strained especially The Foreigner (which was awful) if the budget was a bit bigger and it had a few more ‘names’ I could see no reason why this couldn’t get a cinema release. What you do have is one of the best B action films in a long time!! Welcome back Steven Seagal you’re making great films again.
Verdict 8
Submerged is Seagal’s best film since Under Siege 2. Into the Sun (his previous film) was a step in the right direction. The film is packed with action from beginning to end. Although it’s not going to win awards for it’s acting, it has a reasonable script, very good production values and most of all lots of gratuitous violence from Seagal and Vinnie Jones. Certainly one for the action film collection.

Having read this review I'm now kinda looking forward to this film a little more now so we'll see how it goes.

Movie: The plot in the movie is pretty straight forward, not complicated like 'The Foreigner'. The movie has lots of action, unfortunately there are only a few martial arts sequences with Steven Seagal. One with Gary Daniels and the other with a character that appeared out of a lift. It was the first time he was seen. All the action in the movie is pretty well done. For your information, i watched the first 10 minutes of a preview copy and after seeing it i thought the CGI was going to be aweful. Especially after seeing the drone aircraft - which in my opinion would not go amiss in Thunderbirds. Luckily after watching the movie, this seemed to be the worst bit of CGI in the whole movie. Overall the rest of the explosions, stunt sequences, etc are well done. There are many of them too.
The stunt double was a bit harder to see in this movie compared with the others, but i have managed to spot him in a few places. Even in some scenes where there are not stunts, like walking up a hill.
The supporting cast are pretty decent too. I thought Vinnie Jones was good in his role. I would like to see some more movies with him and Steven Seagal.
There's even some humour in the movie, and also homage to 'On Deadly Ground' when Vinnie Jones' character gives Steven Seagal a satellite phone and tells him 'incase you need to reach out and reach somebody'.
Sound: A nice rocking soundtrack is present. Unfortunately once again a lot of Steven Seagal's lines are dubbed. This in my opinion reduces the quality of the movie considerably. The dubbing is quite strange, the person doesn't even sound like Steven Seagal.
Picture quality: As you will see from the captures i have added in this post and the gallery the quality of picture is excellent. Certainly one of Steven Seagal's clearest pictures.
Overall: Apart from the dreadful dubbing, the movie is pretty decent. It is still no-where near as good as Steven Seagal's earliest movies, but it is still better than the likes of 'The Foreigner' and 'Out For A Kill'. For half the budget of 'Into The Sun' a reasonable movie has been made.
Rating: 7/10
