True, the younglings could have been left out. Unfortunately they were needed for the story, but they could have cut their bit a lot shorter.

I thought Banderas was hilarious. Still think it is a very fun movie worth watching.

I wouldn't hold my breath for an E4 though, in all a lot of commercials and trailers it's beeing said "they are back for one last ride". This to me hints that this is the last of the series.

The opening in the US is also the lowest yet f the series. So i'm doubtfull funding for an E4 will be smooth.

And they are running out of decent old time action stars to participate. To be honest I don't see Seagal fitting in there at this point.

Peace

The opening in the US is also the lowest yet f the series. So i'm doubtfull funding for an E4 will be smooth.

2 possible reasons:
it is rated for children(PG-13)
and the HD was leaked on the internet 2+ weeks ago
hence the revamped commercials saying 'you have to see it on the big screen'
they know anyone who liked 'The Expendables' series has already watched it.
I am curious myself to see the weekend(today is only Sat) numbers due to the 'leak'...but the movie is just not that good, as stated the middle 'kiddie' part lags and is way too long...Jet Li wasn't even used properly(big part of why I wanted to see it)..
that whole idea of lowering the ratings to get a more younger audience never seems to work....figgin' killed 'Half Past Dead' when they released that to theaters...imagine a G rated Seagal movie.......that was a 'death knell' right there.

Very unlikely that they will ever make an Expendables 4, judging by how bad the movie did in North America (early numbers). The 3rd movie did really well overseas, not sure how this one will do with all the pirating... not much hope of EX4, Seagal wouldn't have been in it anyways IMHO!

Friday Report: 'Turtles' Hangs On to First, 'Expendables' Tanks

With The Expendables 3 bombing, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Guardians of the Galaxy easily held on to the top two spots at the box office on Friday.

Ninja Turtles
fell 69 percent to an estimated $7.9 million. That drop is roughly on par with G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, which was off 68 percent at the same point. Turtles will pass $100 million sometime today; for the weekend, it should wind up anywhere from $24 to $27 million.

Guardians of the Galaxy
eased 44 percent to $6.95 million. It passed $200 million yesterday, and in the process moved ahead of Summer 2014 releases Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Godzilla and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. For the weekend, Guardians will likely earn around $24 million.

The Expendables 3
opened in third place with an estimated $5.88 million. That's down 44 percent from The Expendables 2, which is a horrible drop for a closely-timed sequel. For the weekend, the third Expendables movie could wind up below $16 million.

Let's Be Cops
took fourth place with $5.63 million, which brings its three-day total to $14 million. While it has fallen way behind We're the Millers and Tropic Thunder, it's still on pace to reach $25 million by Sunday—that's a serious score for a low-budget comedy lacking any major stars.

In fifth place, The Giver opened to an estimated $4.74 million. That puts it on track for at least $11 million this weekend; that's slightly higher than The Host, Beautiful Creatures and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, but is disappointing given how popular Lois Lowry's 1993 book seems to be.

Weekend Projections
1. Ninja Turtles - $26 million
2. Guardians - $24 million
3. Let's Be Cops - $17 million
4. Expendables 3 - $16 million
5. The Giver - $12 million

That will teach people not to download the movie and go watch it in Theaters instead!!
teach them what?
that a lousy movie is a lousy movie whether at a theater or downloaded?
anyway this is the 1st time in the history of the internet that a DVD version of a movie has been 'leaked'....only other one that came close was one of 'working copies' of the X-men got leaked.
Film companies do release what they call a DVD screener for various reasons, but they have a notice running thru them and many times they are not post process finished.
The Expendables 3 leak is a historic moment in itself....
will it hurt the Christmas DVD sales?.....probably not....those that like 'The Expendables' series will buy it, 'specially if they own the previous 2.
from what I read the fans are divided as to whether 1 or 2 was better....and 3 was not even close.

Jackie Chan Approached for ‘Expendables 4,’ ‘Rush Hour 4′

Jackie Chan is in high demand.

According to the legendary action star, he’s been approached for three potential sequels: “Expendables 4″, “Rush Hour 4″ and “Drunken Master 3.”

“Sly (Stallone) wants me for ‘Expendables 4,'” he told Den of Geek earlier this week. “I said, ‘okay.’ Because they already asked me to be in two and three, but I refused. Well, I didn’t refuse, but I said, ‘Sly, can’t we just do you and me? Not just a bunch of people and me only coming out for five minutes.'”

It appears that Chan is holding out for a bigger role or an anti-“Expendables” pic with just two action stars. That’s probably best as “Expendables 3″ flopped in the box office on Friday when it made its franchise-worst debut. The pic is also set to be the series’ lowest-grossing opening.

“So if I’m in ‘Expendables 4,’ I want it to be me and him,” he said. “Then it might be interesting. Otherwise you just come out for five minutes.”

Chan also said that he’s waiting for the right scripts before agreeing to return to the “Rush Hour” and “Drunken Master” franchises.

While talking about the possibility of “Drunken Master 3,” which he said he basically already shot with 2010’s rebooted “The Karate Kid,” he said he won’t settle for a “rubbish script” for “Rush Hour 4.”

“I believe after ‘Drunken Master 2′ stop; better than we make no more,” he told audiences this weekduring a Q&A in London promoting his film “Chinese Zodiac.” “Unless we have a better script. Just like lately they want to make ‘Rush Hour 4.’ I said ‘No, show me the script first. I don’t need another ‘Rush Hour 4.’ You need ‘Rush Hour 4.’ Show me the script.’ I don’t want to do a rubbish script just because they want to make the movie.”

Costar Chris Tucker said two years ago that he and Chan were “looking into” doing a fourth installment.

“‘Rush Hour 4,’ we’re looking into it, me and Jackie [Chan],” Tucker said. “We’re trying to get it going so we’re developing something.”

Opening on Friday in 3,221 theaters, The Expendables 3 (Lionsgate), starring returning cast members Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and Arnold Schwarzenegger, joined by Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Kellan Lutz and Ronda Rousey, wasn't even #1 for Friday with a measly $5.9 million. By Sunday, it had fallen further behind Let's Be Cops to bring in about $16.2 million for the weekend.

By comparison, the original "Expendables" opened with $34.8 million on the same weekend four years ago on its way to $274 million worldwide, while its sequel The Expendables 2 opened with $29 million on its way to $300 million worldwide. In theory, the third movie could still do well worldwide, but it's unlikely to gross more than $50 million domestically. Many will likely credit the movies failure to the millions who watched the movie via an illegal download which leaked two weeks before the movie's theatrical release.

Not surprisingly, the audience for the third movie was 61% male and 66% over the age of 25, although the movie received an A- CinemaScore by those who went out to see it this weekend, meaning the audience generally liked it.
