Many of Seagal's movies are on Prime for free...even some of the later ones...
I was curious as to the quality of The Patriot and it's the same as the DVD..

I've always had a soft spot for this film. It's not very thrilling or action-packed, but there is something there. I feel like they tried with this one. It has that Could-Have-Been thing about it. I would put Out of Reach and Out for a Kill in the same category. Perhaps even Into the Sun. They all had certain things I liked whether it was the plot, certain fights, or even locations like the mansion at the end of Out of Reach where the sword fight took place, but they just didn't quite reach that level of some of my favorite Seagal DTV films.

Yeah I re-watched this earlier this year on dvd and it's not too bad overall, they did make an effort and there's some decent production values at times, it just needed a bit more focus and effort to make it a really good Seagal movie. I don't ever expect Seagal to make movies anywhere close to this quality again, I mean at the time I'm sure we were all thinking stuff like "Man this is awful and low budget" but it's really big budget and great compared to stuff he's done in the last 5/6 years haha!

That's exactly it! Back then in those days, I used to complain, air out grievances over certain inconsistencies, incoherence, badly written scripts, lack of general things that go along with a film where everyone cares about the end product, what followed, was even worse, increasing with every year. So some of those early 2000s films, while bad, are nowhere near as terrible as some of the later films. Not all, but most.

We could almost group them as:

90s-00s (Classic Era to Beginning of Decline with his first DTV The Patriot). Seagal and Van Damme both started the same year with their first DTV films. 98.

Early 00s (Personally, I would cut this off at 2007/2008) Belly of the Beast, Shadow Man, Urban Justice, and Pistol Whipped were all decent.

Later Films to Now (Which while I still need to catch up on, a few that I did see, were not great. I did see some excitement around here when Attrition came out. It seemed like his most anticipated film since Into The Sun.

I really liked The Foreigner, but at times, I had problems finding out the solution of the events - lot of double-triple agents. Probably he could reveal the solution of the connection between the characters. :D

I am trying to set up an interview with Michael Oblowitz, who directed The Foreigner and Out For A Kill.
I really would like to know how his experience was during the filming and making of these movies. To be continued....
That would be great!

I've watched it about twice. It's... okay. As I always say, with a little more money, more focus from all involved and perhaps a better editor, it would be so much better. So much more!

It's been a long time since I have seen it. I remember that the story was pretty hard to follow. A bit of a mess....am I correct?
