I am wondering if Seagal fights Josh Barnett in the movie...really hope so!

Hmm, just found a picture a few pages back. It seems Byron Mann is fighting Josh Barnett. Too bad. So we probably see Seagal take down Vinnie Jones with 3 punches ...

Don't know what to think of it. Looks very dark and I miss a lot of outdoor locations...Trailer for A Good Man looked better. But I think we will get another better edited official trailer....because there is no production info at the end of the trailer.

Which Company released this first trailer ???

The trailer was badly edited, and the sound mix wasn't (hopefully) final.

Well, I can say that the shot of the explosion and the guy falling on the car looked cool, other than that it looks like the same old same old, Seagal mumbling in some dark room looking and sounding like he just woke up from a nap.

I'm sorry, but I don't know if I can keep watching these anymore.

We know Steven hasn't put in any real effort in over ten years (apart from few exceptions), but it's getting worse, never mind the monotone line reading, it looks like he can barely keep his eyes open anymore.

I can honestly say that I have never ever seen another actor put as little effort to their work as Seagal has in most of his DTV movies. I guess that's something at least.

A Good Man seems slightly better, I'll have to watch that one of these days.

yes, January would be also awesome. But we all have to wait. Speaking of again of the trailer. Yes, there are no credits. But - again - can it be possible that this trailer was not made by Voltage or by Mr. Waxman (under an alias maybe)?

Sure Voltage and Steamroller will need a more bigger distributor like Anchor Bay, but this is my question. If the Seagal Italia page is the source of this trailer, which kadence1 presented it to us, than they COULD know more.

@JoeDirt
Will you quit being a Seagal fan? I honestly can't share your opinion, that he "can barely keep his eyes open anymore". Sure he grew older, but honestly, I think this dark and tire-some atmosphere is trying to show us, how wicked the world became (in some instances spoken of course).
When I watch this trailer, I feel that Seagal is playing here an mental exhausted man, who fights his last battles. And if this is not just acting, but also reality, then he deserve every fans mercy and appreciation.

Secondary I know what mental exhaustion means. I am currently balancing not to fall into this hole again. This is no fun, this is pure madness.

I am a fan of some of Seagal's work, particularly his first movies that are some of my favorite action movies.

No matter how much crap he has continued to put out since 2001, that will not change the fact that his first movies were awesome, and I will continue to be a fan of them, and I still hope that he has at least one decent DTV movie in him, like Urban Justice, that give us a glimpse of the old school Seagal that we all love. But as the years go by and the bad movies pile on, I'm losing hope.

Unfortunately the dark cinematography probably has little to do with actual filmmaking decisions, but rather Steven himself wanting to conseal himself. This was proven by one of the editors of his movies who told in an interview that Steven would come in the editing room and demand that every shot of him be dimmed to the point where you could barely see him, most likely because he is self conscious about his weight and appearance.

That is also why he is constantly being filmed from high angles, to hide his double chin.

The high angles are not as bad as they were a few years ago, maybe because he grew the goatee.

As far as his mental health goes, I don't know the man, all I can go by is the work that he puts out, and unfortunately after 2001, 90% of it is subpar entertainment IMO.

Bruce Willis in any of his STV films

Yeah it is really a shame that a guy like Seagal is waisting his potential on these cheap DTV films.

I feel the exact same way, JD.

I'm looking slightly forward to "Code of Honor", at least at the moment, maybe a new director can bring some fresh ideas and motivate Seagal to a bit better performance.

Absolution Looks pretty good. But compared with Lundgren`s "Skin Trade" and Van Damme`s "Pound of Flesh" this just Looks pretty average. According to IMDB the average Budget for a Steven dtv-movie is 10.000.000 Dollar.

"Skin Trade" was made for 9.000.000 and "Pound of Flesh" for 7.500.000. Steven definitely should work with a new direcor and crew and putting in some real effort.

Steven should made his Asian-Location type of movie. Look at INTO THE SUN. He really put some effort in that one. Why not work with Ernie Barabash, Peter Hyams or William Kaufmann? Steven would easily get a few well known co-stars als always. A movie with Dolph Lundgren or van Damme would be awesome!

Ernie Barabash is poor director IMO

The only good film hes done is 6 Bullets with Van Damme

I do like Kaufmann though but Seagal cant pick his own directors

I agree, it's really hard to be a Seagal fan these days with all these boring movies. He should try with new directors (or maybe again with Roel Reiné?) and should care more for the result, the latest movies were boring, and "Absolution" looks just terrible compared to "Skin Trade". The last halfway decent movie was maybe "A Dangerous Man", and that was in 2009.

Unfortunately I don't think he would like to make a movie with Van Damme. Hopefully he will make one with Lundgren and I hope he will make a movie in Asia in the near future. But I highly doubt we will ever see a decent movie from him again.

Totally agree with you! But it's not just the director and crew. Steven himself has to put in some effort. Look at the Skin Trade trailer: everyone is trying real hard and is putting in some effort. That's when a movie starts to live!

Decent isnt the problem, he has made some decent films the last couple of years. But I would like to see a really good movie from him again and we havnt seen that in many many years. He is only making these films for the paycheck, he is not putting any effort into them at all, and why, because he dosnt care what the fans think. Lets face it Seagal is over and done with.

Trailer - ABSOLUTION - looks good. Feels good to be back, had a bit of a break from Seagal's films. Maximum Conviction put me off for a while... But couldn't stay away for too long! Just ordered Force of Execution, A Good Man (Is it a sequel to FOE??) and pre-ordered Gutshot Straight. Caught right back up...

Just in time for this awesome looking film!!

Thank you! The music is very annoying, but at least some action scenes look decent this time.
Eh?
The music is Led Zeppelin. Trust me, they are anything but annoying.

The music and trailer look great.....Can't understand the negativity around here. It's 2014 folks, the DTV market is low budget (it's not like it was 10 years ago)...As long as the Sensei is kicking ass...I'm happy. I think people need to stop expecting blockbuster results on such low budgets. I watch the movies to see my hero kick ass....the locations don't bother me in the slightest. He seems to be kicking ass in this one...so what's the problem?

Time to take of the rose-tinted glasses and realise that stuff like MARKED FOR DEATH wasn't exactly OUT OF AFRICA either?
