The Present.

When a musician makes music they don't do it in order to reach a certain point such as the end of the composition if that were the purpose of music to get to the end of the piece then obviously the fastest players would be the best and so likewise when we are dancing we are not aiming to arrive at a particular place on the floor as we would be if we were taking a journey.

When we dance the journey itself is the point when we play music the playing itself is the point. Meditation is the discovery that the point of life is always arrive at in the immediate moment and therefore if you meditate for an ulterior motive that is to say to improve your mind, to improve your character, to be more efficient in life you got your eyes on the future and your not meditating because the future is a concept it does not exist as the proverb says "tomorrow never comes" there is no such thing as tomorrow there never will be because time is always NOW and that is one of the things we discover when we stop talking to ourselves and stop thinking we find there is only a present only a Eternal NOW.

Thanx i like the way you explain the purpose of the meditation. Indeed, it's something itry to do. I'm so sacared of the future and all the bad things which can happen, that i don't really live the present. Since i started reading and learning buddhism, i changed a little bit my point of view and my way of life. I try not to think about the past and the future; just live the present. That's true, i feel better. When you always think about the past, you always say to yourself:" ishouldn't have done this or that or i regret this or that, that's really frustrating. When you think to much about the future trying to prevent anything which can happen, you forget to live and to enjoy life. You're to stressed. So now, i try to live my life day after day!
Anyway Wayne to remind me this!

Each day we live is a "present."

Excellent notes to live by!

The path we live goes forward and the past is done. Learn from it, but don't mourn it. Even Julie made sense this time.
