What would you do if he BEAT you to the floor with his iron fists of fury and proceeded to rain vicious blows on your flailing, weakened body?

of the attacker's body, this would instantly stop the flailing blows, and then i'd get up on my feet and run like the dickens !!!!!

Most confrontations can be avoided. However, if something needs to happen then you move. Meaning, let your thoughts in clearity be your guide. I know this is easier said than done but if you are training in Aikido it can be very real. Practice training in Stillness. This is something I see very very few teachers practicing. Be that lesson. Take care

If a person has made an intention to cause you harm, that is they have verbalised a threat, displayed a threat through body language or what they may be carrying, and you percieve that as a physical threat.......then you would have grounds to use reasonable force to defend yourself. Self defence.

Depending on the country's laws, intention to cause harm is enough to justify Self defence.

The next question that would pose is, was the self defence/force used reasonable?

I would prefer to practice not being hit/moving, you cannot practice taking hits, you either can or cannot. ;)

kokoro,

i agree
Dismissing the benefits of Chi or flowing energy to protect one's body(hands, feet, and so on) while defending one's self with boxing or kickboxing is a desperate self-defense reaction and only adds gasoline to the fuel a fight
It seems to me, all a boxer or kicker ends up with is broken metatarsils and bruised tissue in their hands and feet while fighting back, and that's going to follow them for the rest of their lives
Whereas, if one learns about evasion and talking one's way out of a fight, healthier results will follow

I say if some idiot thinks he's hard and is giving you a load of hassel in a bar or something, then he needs bringing down a peg or two. I'd give him a good smack alright! Maybe I watch too many Seagal movies, and I know they aren't real, but he doesn't take s**t from anyone!

I agree totally don wilkey, but if that fails you need a backup plan, and a good smack around the chops/arm lock would help nicely, as long as it's reasonable! ;)
