A very different plot description from amazon.co.uk:

Elijah Kane (Steven Seagal) is the leader of an unstoppable team of undercover specialists committed to eliminating crime with their own style of hard justice.

An armour plated security van carrying twenty million dollars, belonging to a notorious Mexican drug cartel, has just been hijacked, resulting in a cold blooded and explosive shootout. Determined to find the culprits, Elijah Kane and his team take on the case, an investigation that leads them to a Motorcycle gang boss, a mysterious organisation called ‘Quicksilver’ and someone the C.I.A had presumed dead a long time ago.

Can someone confirm this?

Yep, that sounds about right. But it's just a more easily accessible way to describe the same plot as was originally listed. Caught this on TV but will be reviewing the disc when it arrives at the end of December.

Thanks for the confirmation. I can't wait for your review. If I am not mistaking, you are the one from the av forum reviews right?

Yes. And when I get the chance I'm going to go back and do some more of the back-catalogue Seagal titles which have largely gone ignored on the AVForums site.

I just wish I had more positive things to say about True Justice, although I suppose the majority of criticism comes from the fact that they market it so poorly. I happen to like it as a TV show, but hate it being released as 'movies'.

I'm also quite relieved that it looks like Blood Alley was the only 'movie' which featured that horrible picture-squashing they used to make Seagal look thin. The subsequent episodes, at least on TV, look normal.

Violence in Action is quite enjoyable, and the villain - who Seagal has faced before in Born to Raise Hell - is particularly good (although, as always, the final fight between him and Seagal is a little disappointing, because it's just so damn one-sided) but I think the subsequent two-parter is even better. It's the one where they're tracking a suitcase nuke; where Sarah gets into a firefight at the beginning, and the new girl goes undercover for the team and gets into trouble. Seagal gets properly angry after another person close to him gets taken out, and Marcus is behaving even more suspiciously... best episodes so far, imho.

Anyways I'll keep posting the reviews here. I don't think they get many readers on the AVForums site (or anywhere) but that's partly because they're not reviews as they should be - as a TV show - but instead as 'movies'. Which is why I've reviewed them all under a 'True Justice' banner, as you guys do here. Not that anybody who doesn't follow Seagal even notices.

Hopefully I'll get the chance to do another back-catalogue title in the meantime. I've got to work through Under Siege, Marked for Death, Above the Law and Out for Justice - basically all of his films that are out on Blu-ray - and I like to dip back into his glory days to make myself feel better about deriding his latest stuff. It's just a shame Maximum Convinction isn't Region Free, until I get my Region Free player up and running again I'm going to have to wait for a UK release... which doesn't seem forthcoming.

Thanks! I totally agree the marketing is bad. I live in Holland and I am so happy that they release the movies in the right order. In the UK it's one big mess.

I really like True Justice now. I was sceptical with the first season but now in the second season the series is starting to get in shape. I really like the story. I haven't seen a good Seagal fight scene in a while but season 2 delivers on that front.

Keep up your reviews on the avforums. I really like reading them.

Did you see the whole second season already. In short terms: what did you think of it? Is it going somewhere at the last episodes?

Thanks! Will do. Always had an inexplicable soft spot for Seagal, but I'm not unrealistic, I realise his best is probably well behind him. But you're right, True Justice is better than most people would have you believe, and I think it's better than doing half-a-dozen mediocre DTV movies which are instantly forgettable at best.

I've only seen the first 8 episodes of Season 2, but they get better and better as they go along. I like the idea of an overreaching story arc - i.e. the mysterious 'Ghost' - but I've got my doubts about whether or not they'll pull it all together at the end. A part of me wants them to suddenly reveal that Marcus is the Ghost and was behind it all, just because at least he would be a character that we have gotten to know for a while, rather than some random newcomer who pops in for the final episode, says 'I'm the Ghost' and then gets slapped by Seagal. I think that would be anticlimactic. It would be more interesting for Marcus to have engineered what happened to Seagal's team in Season 1 just so he could recruit Seagal back into the Black Ops world and get him to do his own bidding...

Anyways, I'll guess we'll find out. It's on fairly late every week in the UK, but if I don't stay up and watch it on TV it'll be 2014 by the time I get to see the end of the season on Blu-ray!

Thanks! By the way, as you have seen Blood Alley, can you answer my questions at the Blood Alley thread? The questions are in my review. Thank you ..

Sorry, I did my best but I'm not sure you'll get the answers you want until the complete series is released. It makes about as much / as little sense to me as it does to you, but I think a lot of it is purposefully ambiguous and we won't get any decent answers / clarity until the season ends. Who knows, maybe another cliffhanger too!

I watched Violence Of Action last weekend. Here are my thoughts:

Season 2 is about finding The Ghost. This is the CIA’s priory target. In the last 2 movies (Vengeance Is Mine and Blood Alley) we got a good story that could lead to The Ghost. What I don’t like about Violence Of Action is that it’s setting up a new story. Of course this whole story could be another lead to The Ghost, but in my opinion it’s getting a little bit annoying and messy. Kane and his team have dealt with Russians, Mexicans, human organ traffickers and this time with someone from his past. And they all “could” lead to The Ghost. Yeah right... And it’s not even sure that The Ghost ordered the hit on Kane’s team. The question is also still “why was Kane’s team killed”. This is also the question that is bothering Kane. So my question is then: Why does Kane keeps helping the CIA with their different targets? It’s a little bit strange… They could have kept the story tighter. Now every episode / movie we get a new story line that “could” lead to The Ghost…..

I thought Violence Of Action is a step back. Not only because of the new story, but also because of the action. Not that the action is bad, but there is so much potention for some great fight scenes but they are not pulling it off. For god sake, you have got Darran Shahlavi in this. Why not make a great fight scene between him and Kane? The 2 short fight scenes between Seagal and Shahlavi are boring and not exciting at all. Overall the fight scenes are very short in this one. Seagal gets to shoot a lot, but there could have been more fight scenes (that make sense) in this one.

Also the bad acting from the bad guys annoyed me sometimes. The bad guys in Vengeance Is Mine and Blood Alley are much better. Only Darren Shahlavi is good as a bad guy in this one. Violence of Action ends with a cliffhanger, which is good. But I hope they keep this story for the next movies and not start another “could be lead” in the next one.

Don’t understand me wrong: Violence of Action is not bad at all (it’s entertaining enough), but I liked the 2 last movies better. They formed a tight story. With Violence Of Action they let a bit loose on this story. What also bothered me is that suddenly they are back in Seattle. Maybe I missed something, but it’s never explained why they left Vancouver?
I hope Angel Of Death will be a step up again…
