Well if they actually do decide to make it I hope it is released in theaters.

Dude, how many more times do we have to tell you it's gonna be released in theaters for sure?Temporary memory loss or a permanent one,eh?

About theatrical releases:

With projects like that (the ones that go to theatres), you have big investors. People with real money, who believe in the production. In such, almost always, you don't see Steven Seagal as the producer ... so during film making, Seagal's part is only as an actor and perhaps as a little stunt co-ordinator or choreographer ... but that's it ... if the movie has a big budget, Steven Seagal will most likely have little to say to the exec. producers or to the director so that big changes are made to the film. Therefore, if he's told to come back and do a good voice over for some reason, he will have to do that, or his paycheck will be on the line as well as further contracts with the production team. For such big projects, scheduling is very important, and rushing is never good.

By the way, word of a mouth does not work for Steven Seagal's films, as his name is not as popular nowadays as it was or compared to other big shot action stars; ... and DMX did help with advertising for Exit Wounds but overall "Exit Wounds" wasn't marketed as much as films you see today and it still did amazing at the box-office. That just goes to tell you that people can recognize quality without anybody else telling them about it. (Half Past Dead wasn't nearly as good as Exit Wounds)

Steven needs to take it easy!

I just hope they didnt rush making this film. Hes got a lot of projects to do, and i hope he didnt feel pressured to do a rush job on this film and not pay attention to details ( voice dubbing). Can you imagine if something like OFAK, havent seen out of reach, but if that has voice dubbing, the same goes for that as well. If any of those went to theatres, he would be laughed out of the cinema. If something does go to theatres, he needs to take all the time to make sure it is of high quality because when you quickly release a film without correcting all the errors that are bound to go wrong, the quality shows

I agree so very much!
I hope Steven do what he can to make the best out of every picture but some of the later ones, yeah... they are rushed works.

Yeah Undersiege 3 will rock surely!! i am looking forward to the "Olde" style of action that we all miss so much that it hurts (i wake up crying sometimes lol) but anyway i hope its still made in the same spirit muich as the first two i hope he will break more bones loudly :) and i hope Steven can still make those roundhouse kicks and knife moves that weve grown accustomed to. lately ive seen eh that maybe his movies havnt gottten the attention they deserve (nor the awards.. hello, oscar comitte??) but anyway perhaps this will break that barrier and once again bring our Sensei back in the spotlight! that would be so great, right guys? :D

I'm not sure about Oscars...

To get an Oscar, you need a really great film. However, there are such things as lifetime achievement awards ... so I'd nominate Steven Seagal for that.

The fact that Seagal is writer and producer of Into The Sun kind of makes most of what you said obsolete!

I agree with Yudansha...

I seem to be doing that a lot lately:). Seagal isnt a big money draw anymore, and its know use kidding ourselves he would be. If i was an investor, I wouldnt invest in this movie. I like Seagal, but its just not a safe risk. I think maybe I would do US3. Of course, this is all speculation, because I dont know anything about this film. It may very well be a strong movie, but its a big risk, and if i was an investor, the odds arent looking good. (Last few movies DTV, poor box office return on every movie since Under Siege, with a few exceptions)

Writing vs. producing ...

Well, as you know, the writers may provide the final draft of the script, but the director may modify it as they go along ... and there's basically no time for writers to come up with new material. So that part is all up to the director ... the director might also think that improv might suite some scenes better than what the script provides.

Is Steven Seagal an executive producer for the film? Because if he's not, that means that he just puts money into the production but the execs are the ones that have the actual say as to what happens with their investment while the money is being used up.

Obsolete? I think not.

Since Seagal is the only star I am familiar with..

I think Seagal should be doing as much as he can to make sure this movie is done well. Its his comeback, not any one elses. If that means he should be doing acting, fighting, writing, and producing, so be it.

acting, fighting, writing, and producing ... and perhaps directing too?

Didn't he try that with "On Deadly Ground?" ... do you think it would be such a good idea to put that much pressure on the man; especially if this one is to be (who knows if it's supposed to be though) his 'comeback' film?

I am not saying for him to kill himself

Take as much time as he needs. Hell, dont release the movie for another year. But i think he should do as much as he can to get his name on the film, minus directing (Mink is taking care of that, thank god..)

Agreed. The fact that the rest of the cast is not mentioned is somewhat dubious. And ,as I mentioned before,Ken Lo(also part of the Jackie Chan Stunt Team,as well as an actor)will be familiar to Eastern martial arts/action movie buffs but will be unfamiliar to the average joe. There was also a rumor that the school girl from Kill Bill has a cameo in this film.

I heard that rumor, and hope its true. I enjoyed Kill Bill and her performance in it. I dont know if she will having anything to do with making this film succesful, because she isnt that big of a star, but it certainly couldnt hurt, and might give some execuse to see it for those who arent fans of Seagal.

Well this IS news. After Seagal did UnderSeige 2 he said he'd never do another one, well I guess never say never.

Exactly...Matt Damon said the exact same thing about The Bourne Trilogy .. & he ended up doing an second one after all! ;)

I am excited to hear about the possiblity of a US3 movie!. I loved the other two. The Casey Ryback character is perfect for Steven. I hope "Admiral Bates" is in this one, too. I love his interaction with "Casey".

Welcome to the forum Lorraine! Enjoy.

Matt Damon is actually also working on the third installment now ... The Bourne Ultimatum (The Bourne Legacy is not in the works).
