How Jean-Claude Van Damme Achieves and Maintains His Great Shape

Upon talking with Jean-Claude, he revealed seven very valuable pieces
of advice as to how he stays in shape.

1) Diet: Diet is listed as the first element of good health and great
shape because it is one of the most important elements. Jean-Claude is
very watchful of his diet. He loves a breakfast consisting of oatmeal
and bananas for example, he recommends eating meals containing decent
portions of salad, and he insists upon eating little red meat.
2) Cardio: He fits at least one hour of cardio a day into his busy
schedule and many times more. One of his favorite cardio activities is
bike riding. For him, bike riding gives him a sense of his youth and
his European roots.
3) Weights: Obviously, weights are a must. This kind of exercise
provides a person with so many health benefits. Most importantly, it
is the only way to effectively speed up your metabolism and build
muscles.
4) Change your Routine: Jean-Claude never performs the same workout
routine twice. He emphasizes the importance of working the same
muscles in several different ways. You should never allow your body to
adapt to a specific routine, for in the end it becomes wasted efforts.
5) Supplements: While strengthening your body, it is always important
to maintain a healthy immune system. Taking a multi-vitamin or a
vitamin supplement of which you specifically are deficient in is always
beneficial. They should always be natural supplements, for synthetic
or man-made supplements usually produce side effects which only weaken
your system in one area or another.
6) Stay Positive: Your mind is a powerful thing. A good attitude is a
must when getting into shape. Stress and depression only make it more
difficult for a person to shape up their problem areas. Always push
yourself forward with hope in your heart and a smile on your face.
7) Behavior: Not only should you be strict with yourself in the gym,
but in your daily life also. You should act as if you were perhaps a
role model for small children. Your life choices have an immense
effect on your physical shape and health. So, get enough sleep, eat
well, and cut back on any drinking habits and any other aspect of your
life that tends to weaken your immunity. In other words, to be strong
physically, it is important to stay strong mentally.

Kumite Update

Currently, Jean-Claude is in Vancouver finalizing the pre-production
aspects of Kumite. Also, as part of the pre-production process, long
time friend, Peter Malota, will be reviewing all reel submissions
within the next few weeks. As a result, the next newsletter should
include a full list of actors and productions crew. Finally, at
present, the world premiere of Kumite will be scheduled for the end of
March 2005.

NAPMA

Rob Colasanti (President of NAPMA magazine) and Mark Graden (audio
visual director) received the opportunity to sit down with Jean-Claude
Van Damme last week for an in-depth interview for their next issue of
NAPMA (North American Professional Martial Arts Association). The
interview will consist of information about Jean-Claude¹s background,
and his history with Martial Arts. It will also divulge to readers
information about Kumite. The next issue of NAPMA, containing this
interview, comes out soon.

Until next time,

I like his rules for staying healthy, R'Dog. He's spot on about exercise, and varying routine.

Guess he's done with cocaine, now, eh? ;)

Some very good common sense routines here, ones that could be beneficial for everyone. Thanks, Reservoir Dog. :)

Although I'm in pretty good shape, unfortunately, I don't follow most of these, except the "stay positive" and "behavior". :D I think most of you will acknowledge I try to always follow the former, and as for the latter, I'm a perfect role model for children. How to stay young at heart! ;) :D

Thanks, Res.Dog that was an interesting read!

"Obviously, weights are a must. This kind of exercise

Very well said!

"Taking a multi-vitamin or a
vitamin supplement of which you specifically are deficient in is always
beneficial."

About that: new studies done show that vitaming supplements do not protect you against cardiological problems in the road ahead and are recommended against. Get your vitamins the natural way!

"So, get enough sleep, eat well"

SERENA!!! Are you reading this??? :D How about you, Tora? :D
