Van Damme's coming back! Don't forget about his new TV series that is in talks too!

All of them look better than "Submerged", but hopefully "into the sun" will be the movie from Seagal we have been waiting for

I think Kumite will be the best martial arts film in the coming 3 years. I think it will be better than Into The Sun, Danny The Dog..

Van Damme is working so hard on this film doing extensive research on martial arts for this film and hiring and trying to find champions from all different martial arts style.

He said that the fight scene at the end will be something special, a Mas Oyama inspiration fight scene according to an article in Black Belt.

I hope it goes to theatres, it would be a shame for him to put all of this out for nothing. Then again, maybe if they release the TV show first, he will gain enough popularity that it won't be an issue.

Kumite will be released in theaters, also it had a huge banner at the Canne's Film Festival, I will try to find that pic for you..

Don't count all your chickens...

Yeah, but you know how things go. "Into the Sun" was definitley going to theatres, but now, no one is sure. Things change a lot in that business, so it's hard to know for sure. Everything is going Van Damme's way though.

1. Very Succesful DTV "In Hell"
2. Guest spot on "Las Vegas"
3. Upcoming tv series
4. Good promotional stuff (unbelievable website for WOD)
5. Very involved production on "Kumite"

Lets hope some of that luck rubs off on Seagal.

VanDamme has changed ALOT!!!

He's gone from a hit to an almost unknown (I mean people don't know what he's up to anymore, just like with Steven Seagal due to their DTV route) ... VanDamme is making a big star out of himself again.

LittleDragon, "Danny The Dog" is not and was never intended to be a martial arts film. It's much more of a drama. Something that Jet Li has never done before. This is going to be a step in the new direction for him. I wish him the best of luck. He seems to be very genuine about everything he says and does. He's a good role model as well.

What's this about upcoming series with Van Damme???

And LittleD, I can't see any of those pictures you posted. Just the 3 red 'X's' in a row ... could you have them as attachments? I'd like to see them. Thanks!

It's not attached, so no...

No, Littledragon, I cannot. I don't know why, but it is shown as a broken link on my end.

New TV Series is in talking stages, possibly "Texas Ranger" spinoff

He is in talks for a brand new TV series because his guest spot on "las vegas" was succesful. There are rumors he is going to take over the "Walker, Texas Ranger" show, because Chuck Norris refused to reprise his role, but I doubt it. It wouldnt be hard to find him a good cop show or something, although with all the reality and competition coming up ("Hawai", "LAX") it will be a challenge. But I know Van Damme will rise to the occasion.

Sounds good, but Texas Ranger wouldn't work for him...

... I just don't see Van Damme in that hat :D But I'd like to see what else Van Damme can do. He's certainly improving, that's for sure!

I don't watch that Vegas show, so didn't see Van Damme on it... Did he have a cameo or did he play a real character?

He had a cameo. It was the best episode I've seen. Well one of them. He was shooting his new film at the casino and every regular on the show was like oh my god, Van Damme! (which is kind of funny, because all he is doing are DTV's, it's not like he is doing big budget blockbusters) Anyway, they film the movie at the hotel, and it turns out the stunt somehow went wrong, and Van Damme dies. They have to figure out if it was murder or accidental.

it was so controversial Van Damme got killed (he is an action hero) that people in other countries heard he died in real life. (At leas that's what they said on the imdb message board...)

Are they doing re-runs now? I'd like to see it.

I'm not surprised that some people from other countries thought that he was dead for real. I mean, he had a cameo. Played himself and got killed himself.
Sounds good anyways.

Van Damme has established a name for himself already, and many people know him. He might not be in the headlines lately, but people recognize him anyways and still consider him a star. That's how I see it. The same with Steven Seagal (although, those who haven't watched much of Seagal's movies lately, might not recognize him as easily ... that's just the way it goes ... the same thing goes for those celebrities who do too much plastic surgery on themselves :D).

Yeah but the thing with Seagal is he isn't TRYING to make a comeback. I mean he is making movies, but Van Damme is actually trying to make the best movie of his career, "Kumite", where as Seagal is just making them like an assembly line. I will always be a bigger Seagal fan, mainly because of his earlier work, but I have to admit at this point of time Van Damme is impressing me more than Seagal. But you know, maybe "into the sun" will surprise us all like "Exit Wounds" did (one of my favorites). I am sure Seagal will get back on track, but he has got to be willing to work harder. (Making sure there is no dubbing, trying harder to do his own fights, better script, etc...)

"assembly line" ... nice analogy

Kind of like Ford started doing and now they screwed themselves ... I hope the same doesn't end up happening to Steven Seagal. He's got to improve, because the movies he's doing now are way below average.
