Van Damme's Upcoming Movies.

Hard To Kill
I was watching Hard Target and Sudden Death the other day and the one thing that Jean-Claude has going for him is that he's actually a pretty good actor as well as being charismatic on screen. There's been many guys are great at martial arts who've made movies but JCVD just has that special something that keeps me coming back to his movies.

FakeShemp,
I just realized you and I have the same birthday as well :)
Gary Busey and George C. Scott as well.

And I saw Until Death last week... I was completely blown away by the first half of the movie, but while overall I was pretty impressed with Van Damme's performance, the movie turned into Regarding Henry from Bad Lieutenant. Regardless, in my opinion, Until Death and Wake of Death were his best films since Timecop.

At least we'll remember each others birthday!:)

I get annoyed with the presentation of Van Damme's movies on DVD. In Australia, Hard Target is uncensored unlike the US theatrical version on disc but it's not in anamorphic widescreen and The Quest is in full screen 4x3 which is awful seeing the movie was made in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio.

Wow.. That definitely is a pain in the ass :(
Spending whatever you spent on those discs (and I'm assuming you acquired them legally :) and having to deal with that crap..

Are his more recent movies the same way internationally?

The more recent ones are all in the correct aspect ratio, fortunately. It's only a small number of his movies on DVD that aren't presented in the correct fashion. Cyborg is another movie that's not in anamorphic widescreen in Australia.

Steven's movies fare a lot better here though. The only movie I know of that loses out is Marked For Death as we ended up with the cut UK version on DVD here. It loses about 25 seconds in cuts. The US DVD is uncensored but isn't in anamorphic widescreen, only letterboxed, which looks awful on a large plasma or LCD tv as it sits in the middle of the screen with black borders all the way around it. The Dutch DVD is the best release as it's uncut and is in anamorphic widescreen.

I don't have the Australian release of Army Of Darkness, but I do have a 2 disc special edition of the US set. The theatrical version looks fantastic but not so the Directors Cut...the reinstated footage is of a lesser quality but it's okay. Well done on picking up the 'fakeshemp' reference, by the way;)

Of course. Bruce Campbell is high up on my list of heroes. Evil Dead 1, and especially Army of Darkness are classics to me :)

Sorry to take this further off-topic, but I hope you've been watching the tv series Burn Notice. He's great in that as a retired spy living in Miami.

I've bumped a Bruce Campbell thread so we can talk about his work there.

I liked it very much. Even though he played the one character, there was a return to a recurring theme in his films about duality. He's often played two parts in his films...almost like a Jekyll and Hyde thing. I don't know if it's something that has a special meaning for him or if he just likes an acting challenge, but it is a curious thing about his filmography.

My only complaint was the lack of action scenes but this is a minor niggle seeing it contains one of his best acting performances.

Cyborg is one of the worst movies i have ever seen. Got it as part of Van Damme triple VHS collection. Have never watched it again. Enjoyed Death Warrant and Bloodsport though, so it wasn't a wasted purchase.

Well has anyone else here seen it? I thought it was pretty good. I was expecting more from the movie thought with Isaac Florentine as director and Scott Adkins as co-star.

The action was very well shot, although Van Damme's opening fight in the bar looks like it has been sped up a little. Rest of the movie was pretty good. I posted a full review over at Van Damme fan. :)

Hi Shirlgirl13

This is the "Off Topic" part of the forum and any and everything is open to discussion here.

I Quote: "Here you can discuss anything that is not Steven Seagal related. Post movie reviews, jokes, news stories, interesting facts and more..."

Notice it says anything that is NOT Steven Seagal related.

Most of the male side of this forum and some of the female side share loyalties with other martial arts/action actors. This give them a chance to talk freely without cluttering up the rest of the site where we prefer to keep our Steven Seagal related conversations and shared tidbits.

Welcome back and please give us some tidbits, on the "Movies" side of the forums about the movie "The Last Night" and your granddaughters role.

Stage 6 is only an other name for Sony I think. The trailer for JCVD sucks, off course.
