Interesting thread, Deka. :)

Here in Michigan we get some of the older English shows--and some very old. :D

I'm particularly fond of Are You Being Served? You may not even remember that one, as it's from around the mid 1970s. But they show it here in Michigan several nights a week.

I also like "Keeping Up Appearances", with Hyacinth and Richard Bucket--that's pronounced "Bouquet". :D That show is from the mid 1990s, I think.

I used to like Fawlty Towers, with John Cleese. They haven't shown that in a few years, but I did enjoy that one.

And for some inexplicable reason, I've always liked Monty Python--though none of my friends ever did. It was almost like a guilty pleasure. :D

I've just recently been hearing about the British series, MI-5, based on the intelligence agency in the U.K. It's in its third season, but I may start checking that. It's now being shown on our Sci-Fi Channel here.

Remember all them shows from when I was young lad , still shown from time to time over here.
The only problem is people think all the the UK residents are like people on these shows.

I know exactly what you mean!! :D I communicate with a few people from around the world, and some of them, including a few from the U.K., think the American sit-coms you're watching reflect the way Americans really are!

Trust me--even Americans don't think American sit-comes reflect the average citizen. :D

I've also enjoyed a few series on Masterpiece Theater, including Mystery.

No, not the new one that I know of, but that was another series I forgot about. I don't remember which Dr. Who I really liked the best, as there were so many :D--and it hasn't been shown here in a few years. But I did like Dr. Who a lot! I followed it for a few years when it was here.

Thought of another series. Chef. Don't know if you ever saw it, but I kind of liked it. Sometimes he was almost too mean to like, but he still was funny at times. :D

Another one of my favorites I can't believe I forgot to mention was the Sherlock Holmes series with Jeremy Brett. I've never seen anyone portray Holmes better, and it was an excellent series. That ran from 1984 to 1994, but is still show here in Michigan from time to time.

I don't believe The Sweeney or the Vicar of Dibley were ever shown here. But yes, Inspector Morse still is, and is very good! Quite enjoyable.

I like this thread. :D None of my friends ever shared my taste in English TV. :D

What about Cracker not the US version
Never saw the U.K. version here in Michigan, but I heard it was great.

I did like the American version, though, which didn't last very long. Maybe because I liked Robert Pastorelli, who sadly died of a drug overdose last year.

Hey, I just realized--it's almost 3:00 a.m. your time!
What are you still doing up? :D
