Guys,

as you can read in the "Keoni Waxman Updates" thread, Waxman has asked us to share some ideas with him.
He would like to know which dtv movie of the past 10 years you would like to have a sequel.

Share your ideas in this thread:

Which movie?
Why you think this one must have a sequel? (Think about Steven's character)
What should be the storyline?

Have fun!

Hey Dida!

Another team-Up with Steve Austin would be awesome! Maximum Conviction 2 or how they will name it :)

Story, hmmm... Steven and Steve have to team up to rescue their Kids who have been taken hostages during a bank robbery. Or something like that.

It was nice to make something new. Something like the Karate Kid. For example Aikido Kid. Steven Seagal could play a teacher of Aikido. All fights do style of aikido.
Accordingly shooting done in Japan. Steven would be nice to move away from the role of a soldier, police and other military and play teacher of Aikido.

Remember the movie Ip Man, as the film turned out very different.

I actually like the idea of steven seagal being inn his own karate kid movie. Its extremely different from the police role etc.

Yes he could play a teacher but to make it more interesting in my opiion is he isnt teaching kids or anything like that. hes teaching Older guys 18 to 25 and something goes horribly wrong a car crash or something that leaves a family dead and the only person left to blame is seagal (even though we know he didnt do it) The hole town blames him cause he was the only one at the scene when in reality it was set up by one of his students to get everyone to turn on him. Well It works & Now seagal has to stopp what he has created fighting daredevils, as well as deal with the police & hide from them, & as well as trying to clear his name.

I feel like that right there could be an extremely different type of movie rather than everything else hes done.

Good idea :)

Besides that, I would like to see a MaxCon 2. Just give Seagal alot more screen time than in the first MaxCon movie, then it would be great ;) I would actualy like to see a MaxCon trilogy ;)

Agree...if that movie was to happen I think it needs Seagal and Austin on screen alot more than they were

I also think revisting Ruslan would be a good idea although DTK was not a Waxman movie I think he could do a better job than Jeff King did with the first film

Maybe a movie in whch Ruslan goes back to Russia and gets dragged into the Russian back in Moscow

I would like it to be filmed in Moscow though not Romania

As many have noted, MaxCon really sets itself up for a sequel, even the characters themselves talk about their next big mission at the end of the movie and, as long as it was not set in a prison, it would probably be quite good. They could do a Con Air-style story, with prisoners being transported by plane or (if it's more budget-friendly) by train or boat, and have the prisoners break out, and the two Steves working from the inside to save the day.

Looking through other previous Seagal/Waxman projects, I'd consider maybe The Keeper, which was a good, solid actioner within Steven's recent output, and whose lead ex-cop-turned-bodyguard character could return for a Man-on-Fire style story involving a child that needs protection, which may be a slightly more interesting story than the usual 20-something girl who Seagal ends up improbably bedding. Seagal could get wounded trying to protect her at the beginning (like he gets shot by his partner at the beginning of The Keeper, and like Denzel goes down in Man on Fire) and then spend the rest of the movie tearing up the streets looking for her. I'd go for New Orleans as a good location to set this.

I also think a True Justice movie would be really good. They don't even have to market it as a TJ movie (it's not like they marketed Street Wars as being even TJ-related) and could pitch it as a movie about Seagal's Ex-Black-Ops / Ex-Cop who, following an attack on his team, has left the grid to avoid being killed himself, and is looking to finally take down the people responsible. They could use flashbacks from the episodes, have Seagal encounter hit squads along the way sent to kill him, and then have him finally track down the bad guy at the end and bring more than one bullet with him. It doesn't need to be overly complicated, just closure for fans, for the series, and also reasonably coherent as a standalone feature (unlike Street Wars!!).

If we don't have to limit ourselves to just previous Waxman projects in the last decade, then I'd maybe start getting a little more adventurous. Into the Sun was one of Seagal's most professional projects in the last decade and made excellent use of his bushido skills; giving him a samurai sword and getting him to speak Japanese was a stroke of genius. In an ideal world we'd have Seagal do some period Samurai piece, about a Westerner trained in the art of the samurai (47 Ronin-style) or along the lines of Lone Wolf and Cub, which, I think, would have been perfect for him. But given that he hasn't really done period before, we'd have to instead consider just a Japanese setting, in the modern day, with Yakuza villains once again. In fact it wouldn't even need to be Japan, so long as the Yakuza were heavily involved. Perhaps have his ludicrously-named Travis Hunter called in to help with a murder in a Japanese corporation which has ties to the Yakuza, and teamed-up with a younger upstart (think: Connery and Snipes in Rising Sun, done in a Glimmer Man style, only with more Japanese-speaking from Seagal). We've all complained about Seagal's mumbling and his ADR work which he didn't dub himself, but I think the one time I've been intimidated by Seagal's dialogue was when he was speaking - SHOUTING - Japanese. He's fluent, convincing, aggressive and superb when not speaking English, lol!

Finally, although it's probably one of the last on anybody's list, I'd put Submerged forward. Seagal's just finished working with Vinnie Jones again, why not bring back his character as a villain in a sequel to Submerged? The film ended on a sort-of ambiguous ending when it came to the reprogramming of the girl, the sequel could have Cody's team attacked from the inside by this reprogrammed assassin, and him having to go on the offensive to find who is now running these assassins, only to end up facing off against his old friend - who he thought was dead - who was actually saved and brainwashed and is now their lead assassin. Or something. Trouble is, with a name like Submerged, if they go for a sequel, they're going to have to have another damn submarine! The only other option would be to set it on some deep-sea underwater lab (think: The Abyss) where some scientists have mysteriously died, and where, it turns out, the killer was a brainwashed programmed assassin like in the first movie, and his new team get picked off one by one whilst he fights back.

Just off the top of my head...

Maximum Conviction trilogy would be a very good idea. It also really sets it up for a sequel at the end of the first movie. Like you I just want to see more Seagal and Austin + more fightscnes.

Interesting! Well, there is one question: Why only from a Seagal movie of the last 10 years and not one of his earlier ones?

Although “Pistol Whipped” is my favorite Seagal-Dtv, I don’t think it needs a sequel. I also don't see MC needs one (unless they find a much better location and give Seagal and Austin more screen time together).
I think maybe Seagal should make a movie with Dolph Lundgren instead.

But there is one I would like to see a second movie: “The Keeper”.
I think out of all the characters Seagal played in the Waxman movies, Roland Sallinger was the most interesting, and I liked how Seagal played in this movie.
I thought he seemed pretty happy playing this role. The movie itself could have had more action and a longer and bigger showdown, and the ending feeled a bit rushed, but it was well filmed, had nice locations, a good soundtrack and solid actors. If you look at the reviews of the fans and critics, I got the feeling that a lot people think this was a solid movie and one of his better ones of the recent years.

Imagine a second movie in the style of "The Keeper" with more action and story-wise a slightly different direction, but still with the soul of it's precedessor. I think that could be a pretty solid dtv movie.

I'm not a fan of the idea to film in Romania again, but we can't influence this decision. I think if they want to film there, the plot should be set mostly in Romania. And not only in Bucharest, also outside of the town, showing the landscapes and little villages. I also would like to see it more sunny and not as grey and dark as in some movies before.
Romania does have a lot of problems like poverty and criminality, and this should be included in the story in a authentic way.

A story could be that Roland Sallinger returned to L.A. and enjoys his retirement, but soon agrees to work for a big security firm due to money troubles. He manages and teaches his own team of highly skilled bodyguards and provides secure for a prominent couple on their country estate near Bucharest. He becomes friends with his clients and their family, but after the death of two of his best assistants he soon learns his clients are the head of an infamous human trafficking organization. Without the help of the police, Sallinger and his team try to find their own ways of "restructuring the organization".

Maybe becouse Waxman want to follow up on something he himself started, and not continue on something someone else started, which I can releate to ;)

I still think MaxCon would be the best one to make into a trilogy

The keeper was a good movie but it didnt have as much potential for a sequel as Maximum Conviction.

I see your points and I know some people here like MC, but overall it received pretty bad reviews from actionfans and critics, and that's why I personally think it's not good for Seagal to build on this movie. That's the same thing I thought when I heard that they make a trilogy after FOE. It wasn't well received and Seagal even wasn't much to see in it. It's not cool to watch a trilogy with a boring first movie, even if the sequels get better.
Of course there is even a worse example, with "The Foreigner", which received very bad critics but still got it's (bad) sequel.
I just think they should choose a movie that got at least decent critics. And with Austin he just could make a movie with another title and characters.

After thinking about this for awhile, I came to the conclusion that the only movie I would like to see a sequel to, would be Urban Justice.

UJ is one of my favorite, if not THE favorite Seagal DTV movie. Granted it's not very original, it's not very complex, it's just a straightforward kickass action movie, and that is exactly why I like it so much.

It's the closest thing we have seen of old school classic 90's badass Seagal, since, well the 90's.

If they were to make a sequel, I guess they would have to make it like a sort of a Death Wish clone, but instead of a gun like Bronson, Seagal would kill bad guys with his martial arts skills.

Maybe after the events of UJ, Seagal's character has become this mythical legend, who appears from time to time in situations where justice needs to happen, he's become like a vigilante superhero, Charles Bronson with MA skills.
UJ2 would be about one of those events, where Seagal needs to appear and deliver some old school justice.

I can't believe so many of you would like to see a sequel to Maximum Conviction, IMO it's one of Seagal's worst movies of the recent years.
