Voting is mandatory ??!!!! Cripe, how undemocratic. Talk about giving a false sense of mandate - mandating people to vote is no better than the Soviet Union back in the day.

Is mandatory voting liked in your country ?

Seagal should be President... so he can kick terrorist’s ass and also teach those Iraqis a thing or two on ass kicking to defend themselves...

On a serious note I favor Bush to win. Been following the presidential elections closely from a foreign perspective and have been keeping an open mind about issues discussed by both parties... (do visit my site) Kerry may have been very critical about Bush's decisions but he lacks the leadership and charisma compared to Bush... though I do agree with him on certain issues, I must admit he doesn’t give much specifics on what he would do differently...

If Kerry wins, he will also have a very big headache, going through the "swampland"...

During this uncertain times it may be wise to let Bush finish where he started... but that’s just my opinion. :indiffere

Isn't it interesting that Bush will probably be re-elected because he has charisma??!!
People are much too shallow and watch entirely too much Reality TV.

"The most important thing you can do is participate in the political process - support the environmental groups that take legal action and lobby, and vote to get rid of the politicians who are whoring for industry. It's more important than recycling. It's more important than anything else you can do." - Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Our biggest concern should be the entire global community and survival of the Human Race. Bush has acted on his own and continues to do so without the blessings of much of the world community. This is outright dangerous. We all live on one planet and all that we do is inter-connected. Acting without thinking about that one aspect and the balance goes haywire. Until world leaders including Bush learn to have meaningful dialog with each other despite differences, the world will continue to spiral downward into chaos. There are issues much more important than charisma.

Yet it is very probable that Bush (and the industry that buys the White House) will "win" ... all I can say is
PRAY FOR PEACE

It's probably just as well as it sounds in very poor taste.

I am not american, but if I could vote, I would vote for Kerry, or to put it another way, I would vote for the Democrats.

Do we know Stevens political convictions? Republican or Democrat? Any guesses?

Who knows what Steven leans towards; however, I'd be willing to say he's pro-environment - see the Greenpeace presentation he gave at the end of On Deadly Ground. He also supports animal rights.
Flash- keep in mind that whatever politicians are elected, there ARE ordinary people like myself who support global dialog, international cooporation, and openness to human beings whoever and wherever they are. Unfortunately, those kind of people rarely are elected to office - the "powers that be" won't let that happen. Jimmy Carter was a good man - actually got Egypt and Israel to sign a peace agreement. That was something; but the terrorists/extremists killed Sadat and peace seems to have flown away. There are people working towards nuclear disarmament - for an example check out the Global Security Institute work.

Oh... the filth...

This whole thread is dirty. Politics is a dirty word...more dirty than what those names imply (and that isn't really dirty).

BTW...I'm against Bush, but I could be persuaded by Dick.

[One Bush and one Dick, the way nature intended - BUSH IN 2004!].

I just posted what I read. I am not for or against anyone.

Kerry: the man of the people ? (not only is he cheap in his charitable contributions, but....)

The Kerrys may be the richest people ever to occupy the White House — if he's elected — but, according to data cited by the Club For Growth (search), they're paying a tax-rate far lower than the 20 percent rate of most middle class families.

According to the Club For Growth, the Kerrys had a combined income of $6.8 million last year, and they paid $725,000 in income tax — an effective tax rate of 12.8 percent. The Bushes paid a 30.4 percent tax rate.

Little more about Kerry & The Truth:

The Washington Post reported over the weekend that former Army Chief of Staff Eric Shinseki (search) was not forced into early retirement for criticizing troop levels in the run-up to the war in Iraq, as John Kerry has claimed.

But, the Post reported, "in revenge for [Shinseki's] comments, Defense Department officials leaked the name of his replacement 14 months early, effectively undercutting his authority."

But, as the Post now acknowledges, that could not have been true either, since Shinseki made his comments after his successor had been identified. The Post has issued a correction.

As a foreigner, my opinion is that I would like to see Kerry wins, although he is not the best choice, cause there is a lack of a good candidate, I don't like the based on wars politics that Bush does to help American economy, and oh my God, Puttin seems to be doing the same now.... how many innocents will lose their lives on years to come ?

I hope God may look for them...

Boy I do miss the Clinton days....{edited :D}
