CANCELLED! STEVEN SEAGAL IS NO LONGER INVOLVED!

The Legend of Johnny Jones
Director: Matt Clark
Cast: Steven Seagal, Danny Trejo, Kevin Sorbo, Icaac Singleton Jr, Tom Arnold

Hi everyone, I have a lot of new info to share about this project. I 've had a long conversation with the director Matt Clark.
I asked him to share some info and it was no problem. So here are some things about the project. Here are some bits and pieces of our chat:

Alot of people don't realize this about The Legend of Johnny Jones but it is being distributed worldwide by UNIVERSAL and is a Tier 1 project. The release date is October 2nd 2021 to give time for the pandemic to ease so the theaters are open again. It would bring Steven Seagal back to the big screen and we are not using actors in a stereotypical way or how the audience is used to seeing them. This film is written on a deep level and pushes everyone's acting abilities.

Only the people involved that have read the script know what's in store. It was written to surprise everyone and it is part of a new universe of films. There are three franchises. Johnny Jones which is horror, action, thriller. Detour 95 which is gritty, slow burn, psychological thriller And The Street Avenger which is fast paced action. Each franchise has 3 films and an epic crossover where all the franchises collide in a way that makes sense.

The character we want Steven Seagal for starts in The Legend of Johnny Jones and then crosses over into the Street Avenger franchise where we guarantee to keep people on the edge of their seats. We shoot with all Red cameras and WILL NOT turn out anything cheesy. Everything has to make sense, be believable and blow the audiences mind. We want to make films that outlive us.

They are being shot in order the Legend of Johnny Jones then Detour 95 and then The Street Avenger.

They can be watched as separate films but when you see them all together people will be like OH HELL YEAH.

Actually JCVD was attached but then Covid happened and everyone's schedules got rearranged. But the role of Detective Cutchin is a man that has been in law enforcement for years and he has seen it all. He works in the most dangerous parts of Jersey but he has a report with the people there. He is calm, and cool but can demolish you if he has too. The distribution company is the one that went after JCVD. I wanted Seagal because of his years of actual law enforcement. He is that cool, calm and collected bad ass. And I wanted that authenticity. So when schedules got pushed and JCVD was out I told the distribution that the stars have aligned to give me a chance to get the star that I saw in the part.

And that is what we wanted. We wanted his acting ability and to change peoples view of him and show all of his talent. If he joins the universe of films then in The Street Avenger you would find him questioning his beliefs of a straight arrow cop, and becoming a mentor to a young female vigilante. It is a film where you would find him and her caught between two rival gangs, the police and corrupt politicians

Johnny Jones has a budget of 3.5 million but we own all of our own RED cameras and equipment and do things in house. So we cut a lot of cost and can make it look like a 20 million dollar film.

Our fingers at Angry Troll Studios are crossed awaiting an answer from him.......

Just have confirmation from the director that Seagal is offered the part. The CEO of Angry Troll studio is in positive touch with Seagal's people. They are waiting for the offer to be formally accepted.

I did read about Van Damme attached to it and it sounded absolutely awful. Surely Seagal will turn it down... ?
I think it depends on what they are offering to pay Seagal for his 'appearance'
Seems to me that he'll take any role as long as it pays enough...just look at some of his latest films

They have some footage on their website of what they “can do with a camera and editing”. This is upstart studio and all three of these movies are supposed to be tied together somehow, STZ is about sex crazies zombies. I love a “so bad it’s good horror movie”. I just hope this doesn’t turn out to be “a so bad it’s bad horror movie”. Maybe it will turn out just good https://angrytrollstudio.com/

We will have to wait and see... Personally I don't mind seeing him in a horror movie...
At this point in time, I'd like to see him in any movie  I understand things have stopped and slowed this year, but all we've seen so far is several potential possibilities - I'd like to see not just a confirmation, but an actual start to a production.

If it's gonna be as low budget as I think it will be, Seagal is barely going to appear in it and it'll no doubt be another cameo role. He needs to get in a bigger movie in a supporting role like he did in Machete in 2010. That could have opened doors for him but sadly he just went further and further downhill. Seems as though we've gone from a few years of Seagal filming 4/5/6 films a year that were all very similar and his role was the same every time, so absolutely nothing in the last few years now :(

This all sounds far too good to be true. The potential of multiple theatrical releases. I can’t imagine Universal releasing a horror / slasher in October 2021 the same month they release Halloween Kills with Jamie Lee Curtis, it would quite literally be “killed” at the box office. Although horror movies are some of the most profitable, usually filmed on a shoe string budget and then making back 10x that during their theatrical run. The director seems to just be hyping his movies IMO but I do love the idea of Seagal starring in these films (especially horro) if he puts in the effort and they aren’t total turkeys

I seriously think the theatrical releases won't happen. But I am open to the project. Sounds very different and I would like to see Seagal as a detective in a horror movie.

I would love to see him as a lead in a horror movie and the idea of him being able to featured in a series of movies is pretty exciting at this point. I am even okay with little to no fight scenes if he puts forth a decent effort

Totally agree with that!

Well, those are big words from the director, I hope he's not day dreaming and this is legit. Seagal in a role like this could be interesting but I don't know... just don't see it happening, personally. The director will have to make Seagal put in the effort and not just sit around whispering to himself.
