Well, these are merely rough notes I made between Monday and Tuesday while wandering awake for 2 days.Just thought I'd share it with you, folks.I'll post the rest of the story when I polish it.

***
John Baird was adopted by Fujiro Yamamoto, a head of the ancient Japanese samurai clan, who kept a unique ancient sword as the family treasure. Sword collectors would evaluate it in thousands and thousands of dollars. John grew up in Osaka, Japan and later on moved to Tokyo on his own and started working for the Japanese government.
Once in the middle of the night a couple of thieves attempt to steal the sword. Fujiro prevents them from doing it though they manage to escape, but memorizes their profiles – a Caucasian female and a South American guy. And here Fujiro discovers the sword they tried to steal is a fake. He immediately calls out John to tell him about it. John starts a secret investigation.
The next day he gets to know from the TV news (Yudansha as the news reporter) that a famous sword collector Matsuo Harada arrives in Washington, US, to introduce his collection to the world.
John finds it a strange coincidence and decides to visit Harada’s house. There he snoops two familiar folks leaving the house. A Caucasian female and a South American. When he enters the house, he smells something wrong and heads for Harada’s garden of meditation and… surprise! He finds Harada dead there. Strange coincidence. The man he saw on the news looked exactly like the sword collector.
John goes to Washington. When he arrives there, he finds out that a so called Matsuo Harada had been kidnapped and some of the swords from his collection were missing. Another surprise.
The investigation is held by a local sleuth Joanne Bridges (Serena). She’s on the track of two thieves- Terry ( Tora) and Luis ( Rodrigo). They’ve been involved in such affairs for quite a while and haven’t been caught yet.
Joanne finds a witness (Little Dragon) who had seen “Harada” in the Sakura restaurant before he disappeared. The witness was a boy who was having a dinner there with his girlfriend.
She goes to the restaurant to question all the workers and the owner about the missing man. While she’s waiting for the owner to come up, she feels someone’s steady look on her. She turns her head and sees that big man at the opposite table but he already had his eyes away from her. (John has been following the detective all the way)
The owner of the restaurant is a young Japanese Itoshi ( Flashgalaxy) He comes up to Joanne and asks if he can be of any help. She shows him her badge and then a photo of Harada. And all the time she feels the stranger at the opposite table is paying too much attention to her. (John would throw short looks at the Japanese and at the detective in turns)
Itoshi confirms that Harada had a dinner in his restaurant but afterwards, whatever happened to the old man, was beyond his imagination. Bad results.

Joanne leaves her car in the garage , enters the house and heads for the elevator. She instinctively stops and hears something. Suddenly someone grabs her from behind and shuts her mouth with his palm. “Be quiet,” she hears a whisper, “If you enter your room, you’re dead.” Joanne shudders. The man takes his palm off her mouth . “Ok, I don’t wanna be dead, so what do I have to do? “ Joanne says with a note of sarcasm. He pushes her to the elevator and tells her to give him the keys. In the dark she can’t see his face. But in the elevator she recognizes a man who was watching her in the restaurant. He seems to be very impressive, tall and powerful. He has a long raincoat on, it's unbuttoned and she can see something like a scabbard beside his right leg. In the same whisper he told her to stay outside the door and wait and if she opened the door she would be dead.
They reached the floor Joanne was living on and John left her there standing behind the door. He turned the key and entered the apartment. A ninja suddenly attacked him. John rapidly pulled the sword out of the scabbard and quickly parried the strike. (Fight choreographer – Tenshinaikidoka)
Joanne heard all those sounds of struggle inside her apartment and then she heard that dreadful groan. John stood beside the ninja’s body wiping his sword off and when she broke in. She gasped for air. He looked at her with a smirk.
“Well, at least you’re alive.” He bent over the ninja and pulled the mask off his face-it was a Japanese.
Joanne quipped. “Well, I’m inside my room, alive, but there’s a dead man here and another man wiping his sword off. What should I think? “
John sneered again. “Think positively. You’re inside your room, you’re alive and there’s a dead ninja instead. And a good guy washing his hands clean.”
“A good guy in bad circumstances. Now can I get introduced to a good guy? “
“I’m John Baird and I’m working for the Japanese government,” he showed her his ID. “And you’re looking for a man who no longer exists.”
Joanne threw a suspicious look at him.
“You mean he’s dead?’
John smirked all over.
“Well, yeah, he had been dead for a quite a while before he arrived in here.”
Joanne raised her eyebrow.
“Are you trying to tell me he died and found his heaven in America? “
“Yeah, he must’ve been booking this place in advance… Matsuo Harada was found dead a few hours after it was announced he had arrived in Washington.”
“What the hell?” a shadow of confusion ran across Joanne’s face. “Then who was that oldie they showed on the news?”
John frowned.
“That is what I’m here to find out.”

Tora, I am BLOWN AWAY by this!!! Especially my role!!! :D This took some concentration, but I'm so glad I took my time. I even read it twice. :D Excellent little plot twists, Tora--all the subterfuge and mystery. And so much attention to detail. Amazing--honestly! I love the way you matched up the characters to the different forum members. :D That was great the way you had the news reporter (yudansha) impersonating Harada. :D

Honestly, Tora. No bull, no joking. This was outstanding, in my personal opinion! :)
And not just because I get to work so closely with Steven. :D

I can't WAIT to see what happens next! :D

Part 2

Joanne and John in her office talking.
“I just can’t believe this whole damn thing is just about the swords,” she says.
“About a sword,” John corrects her. “In my own suspicion, there’s only one sword that is much of somebody’s interest. When Harada’s sword collection arrived in here and some of it disappeared, there might have been one sword that had been stolen before it left Japan. Its value would be about half a million dollars. Certain people would break their neck to get hold of it.”
Joanne’s jaw dropped open. “Half a million dollars? You gotta be kidding…” John raised his eyebrow. “Me kidding? I kid you not. I want half a million dollars. Why would I be kidding?” he sneered. Joanne sneered in response.
Her phone rang. She lifted up the receiver and listened for a while, then she put it down and looked at John with satisfaction.
“The guardians of the sword gallery were checking the videos of the night a so called Harada disappeared. They say their cameras recorded two figures hanging around before the cameras and the insurance alarm went off. They processed the tape and identified those people…”
“A Caucasian woman and a South-American man,” John interrupted her unexpectedly.
Joanne squinted up. “Are you reading my thoughts?” John sneered. “I bet you want half a million dollars too.” Joanne laughed. “I bet Terry and Luis have something to do with the case. And this time I’m gonna get them for good,” she continued seriously. “I bet you are,” John smiled.

Next day John went to a hotel where so called Harada was supposed to be staying. He asked the receptionist if anyone else visited the Japanese. The receptionist thought a minute and then she said she remembered an American visited him the night he arrived to a hotel. John asked her to describe that man and she said the man was of a middle height, had a light brown hair tied in a ponytail on the back and a stubble-covered face. John asked if they had video recordings of all the people entering and leaving the hotel. The receptionist thought for a minute and then she positively nodded. John asked if he could get access to them. She made a short call and told him to wait. In a while a guardian appeared. The receptionist explained the situation to him and the guardian told John to follow him. He brought the investigator to their control center with the monitors inside. John told them to find a tape he needed and play it for him. It took them a few minutes to accomplish the request. John told them to freeze on the man the hotel receptionist had described to him and then make a copy of the shot. He thanked the guardians and left.
He brought the tape to Joanne and she made a request on the unknown man to the database. She would receive a reply in a while.

Late in the evening Joanne was alone in her office. Someone knocked on the door. She said “Come in”. She raised her eyes from the paperwork and saw an old Japanese in front of her. He bowed to her and she nodded him towards the chair. The Japanese sat down.
“My name is Hiroshi-san and I came to tell you something that might help your investigation,” he started in a low hoarse voice.
Joanne was attentively studying his appearance. The man had a short gray hair and his wrinkled face was decorated with a beard, but his eyes seemed to be very lively and young. He was in a gray suit and a beige raincoat, and he wore a gray hat.
“I’m listening,” Joanne finally said.
“It’s about the man who had been kidnapped,” the old Japanese said. “I saw him that night before he disappeared. I saw a woman pushing him into the car and there was a man on the driver’s seat. I think he had a Latin American profile…”
Joanne strained her attention. The Japanese went on. “Then I thought there was nothing strange about it but when I read a newspaper the other day I decided to tell you what I saw.”
“You did the right thing,” Joanne said feeling the wave of excitement ran through her body. “Do you remember the place where it happened?”
The Japanese nodded.
“Could you show me where it is?”
He nodded again. She couldn’t believe her ears. Finally something significant.
“Did you memorize the number of that car?”
The old Japanese shook his head.
“Usually I don’t pay attention to such details. But I could describe the car to you. It was a blue sedan, Toyota, I think. And it had a sticker on the right front door. You could easily recognize it. It says “EXPLOSIVE. DO NOT TOUCH.”
Joanne made some quick notes. “We’ll keep an eye on it. Can you show me that place?”
“Would you like me to take you there right now?” the eyes of the Japanese sparkled.
Joanne nodded. She closed her office and followed the little man.

They arrived to a place following the directions of Hiroshi-san. It turned to be near the laundry in the Asian block. It seemed to be a dark and deserted place at the moment. The Japanese climbed out of the car and told Joanne to follow him. Then she suddenly heard some other car stopped at a distance behind hers. She turned her head and strained her eyes. She thought she saw a blue sedan but the front lights instantly went off. When she turned back to the Japanese she found he was gone. It was dark and quiet around her. The shivers ran down her spine.
“Hiroshi-san!” she shouted into the dark. Nobody responded.
She looked at the laundry entrance and came up to the door. She pushed it and it turned out to be unlocked. Weird indeed. The light was on inside. She carefully entered and looked around, then slowly moved through the laundry hall. Suddenly she heard the car start outside and ran to the exit. She could only see her own Chevy speeding away… Great! She’s trapped now.
Joanne went back to the laundry. Her heart nearly jumped out of her breast when she saw a ninja twirling nunchaku in his both hands. She turned back to the exit and saw another ninja risen in front of her with a dreadful sword in his hands. A thought crossed her mind “Now I’m dead and that’s for sure.”

Hallarian and Robert, you really should post your stories here! :) I think this is a great idea. I don't have much of a creative imagination and I admire anyone who can think up ideas like that. I enjoyed Heather's story a lot, and I'm really into Tora's now. :)

Hope to see both of yours here soon!
