Chuck VS Steven: A Better Comparison?

Chuck Norris was an undefeated world middleweight karate champion.
He is familiar with every martial arts style out there.
He even trained juijutsu with the Grazies and Machados.
We shouldn´t compare to aging martial arts masters. Chuck is even over 10 years older than Seagal.
But to be honest with you, Chuck Norris was and will always be in great shape. 9 years ago I saw him on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno.
He showed his body and his body was amazing. At the time he was already 58 years old. We all know that Seagal is overweight!
Seagal was without a doubt the far bigger box office star. Norris never was successful at the box office. But he made some good movies such as "Code of Silence"(Director:Andrew Davis) and "Lone Wolfe McQuade").
I think it´s childish to compare a 67 year old former Martial Arts champion with a 55 year old Aikido Master!
But there are many people out there who said that Chuck Norris would have beaten his friend Bruce Lee in a real fight because Norris fought in tournaments and Bruce Lee was an actor with no real life fighting experience!

chuck vs seagal

An interesting thread. I do not think this is necessarily an apples to oranges argument unless we are talking about a regulated tournament where the rules may favor one fighter's style over the other.

A solution to this is to simply have the two engage in combat, one on one, no rules in play. The two may still be good at their respective styles but this will determine who the better FIGHTER is. After all, they are both supposed to be "martial" artists, warriors if you will. Therefor, one will best the other in a hand to hand combat scenario.

As I understand, Chuck Norris was mainly a point fighter. Although I did read where Norris participated in a contact match back in '69/70 when the West Coast fought the East Coast.
Likewise, Seagal also was not in a contact tournament or even a point match.
I did read that he was successful in a few 'street fights" which would have to be included in the equation.

The age difference between them is significant although I would give the edge to Norris as far as physical fitness. He seems genuine in his training where Seagal has become increasingly overweight.

In any event, this is all academic. It would be interesting to see them in a match if both were in their prime, no age difference involved in a no rules fight
and see the outcome.

Mama san,
I like your the photo of the two fighting cats. They may be able to defeat both Norris and Seagal!

With Norris starring in a summer blockbuster and Seagal appearing in a poorly made and poorly received TV series, when it comes to Chuck Vs. Steven it seems Chuck does appear to be winning.

As far as "comparing"Steven Seagal and Chuck Norris, that is something that is impossible for any of us to really do.Myself,I'd take Steven Seagal, but that is simply because I'd take him over anyone else. They are both great martial artists. If it came to picking which one's movie I'd go to see if I could only see one, that's simple,Steven Seagal. No other martial arts/action star comes close. His intensity and screen presence are unequaled. The part about people saying Chuck Norris would have beaten Bruce Lee because he had competition experience and Bruce Lee had no fighting experience is ridiculous. That's like people saying that Steven Seagal has no fighting experience because he hasn't competed in tournaments.Bruce Lee and Steven Seagal had to fight FOR REAL many, many times in their lives, especially when they started teaching, and Steven Seagal to this day still gets people trying to test him,so I think that qualifies much more as fighting experience than scoring points in a competition.
