I was at the show last night in Halifax. Despite not being a fan of the blues I was however impressed and the guys did put on a good show. However I did leave with a bad taste. He would only sign his name, I did ask for him to write my name, Matt. His manager said no dedications. I mean come on It dont take long to write 'To Matt all the best Steven Seagal' Plus no photos. It takes maybe 3 seconds for a photo. There was only around 100 people waiting, which in Seagal terms is not a lot of people. The guy is a legend be it Martial Arts, Film or music, and £30 is a lot for normal people to pay for a ticket to a blues gig. All in all it was good to meet the guy and shake his hand. Being a black belt in aikido it has always been a dream to meet Steven and get a quick snap with him. Just a shame really. On a lighter note the show was a lot better than anticipated.

Thats an shame he didnt do that for you like you said it wouldnt take long for him to write to Matt all the best steven seagal...after all you are paying to see him and he should do the right thing by his fans ....

1) its not stevens fault but the silly japanese woman/publicist with him
2) it does waste time e.g. if you allow it once, people will want extra things like "sign it casey ryback" or write a famous catch phrase etc. same with pictures, if the flash doesnt work etc--it eats up time

3) OP you're lucky you even got the chance to see him up close

From my point of view, if I was Steven...I'd be flattered that all these people love me and want my autograph. If they paid to get in, they should be able to get a little dedication on the autograph. But then again, it is mighty fine of Steven to sign at all in the first place. He is the only musician that I know of who does that consistantly.

I don't think it's his daughter who is being described here, I think it's the other woman - the Mongolian girl he picked up on his trip through Tibet in 2002. She's been his whatever (personal assistant/concubine/girlfriend, only she and Steven know for sure what her position is in the household) since then, and from the accounts I've been receiving, she's a right stuck up little cow.

I'm surprised about the photos- he was pretty relaxed about it in the last tour.

I'm convinced now, though, that even if the book I presented on behalf of the admins and fans of this site got delivered, it probably got intercepted by the PA/conc/gf, and he never even saw it.

(I know he likes dogs - he's got at least a dozen - so the book I gave him was "How to Speak Dog" by Stanley Coren, one of my favourite people for dog training).

has anyone tried to give him a gift during his signing? flowers etc?
I want to give him a book of Zen Sayings which i know he'd love but that stuck up cow will probably refuse.

Also its not that he's a musician signing stuff, he's a world famous action star. It's like Bruce Willis doing a gig and signing stuff afterwards or Stallone-its just not going to usually happen-so be thankful that it is.

wow 100 people at an extra 5 seconds. thats 8 minutes 20 seconds more. Lets not forget that aikido aside, without the fans he wouldnt be where he is. I do appreciate that he has signed all of his gigs, but I am sure a lot of people have come away disapointed with the attitude of him and his entourage.

Unfortunately, at the concert I attended at Casino Rama in Orillia (Ontario, Canada), there was no public meet and greet on the day that I went (though there might have been the next day, except I hadn't heard anything about it). There was an invitation only meet and greet, though, which I didn't find out about until it was too late to do anything about it (I didn't realise until too late, as well, that I did have access to connections that could have got me in. I don't think of those things - I'm not that kind of person, so it never occurs to me to use people in that way).

I had to be content with passing on the gift through the security guard (some had backstage passes, some didn't, so I was lucky I caught one who had). The security guard seemed quite nice about it, but, as I say, it was probably handed off to the PA, who, I would imagine, likely dropped it into a garbage bin before ever he saw it.

I had slipped my business card into it, as well as signing "TDWoj", as I know his "people" scan this site. I wasn't expecting any kind of acknowledgement or thank you note, so I knew going in that I'd probably never know if he got it or not. It would have been nice, though, to know if he got it, even if I didn't get a thank you note for it.

That is a shame, he should take a few extra seconds to accommodate his fans. Like Matt said what's an extra 8min and 20 secs. That PA is extremely mean. When I met him at a signing in NYC I had my picture taken with him and went behind the table to stand next to him (he said it was ok and leaned in toward me) and she yelled for security to get me out of there and said no one else is to go behind the table. Everyone else had to just lean over the table, which of course doesn't make for a great picture.

His PR takes her job far too serious, she wants to lighten up, she has already been warned about this, if she keeps this up, Steven will not stand for it! So lighten up Lady, smile more, introduce yourself to the fans, or lose your job! Because if you keep this up, you will lose Steven a lot of fans! It's not just your paycheck that's at the heart of the matter here, it's the love of Steven by his fans! so cool it! Try enjoying yourself! Not acting as though you've got a steel rod up your jacksie!

If, by some miracle, his "people" do "scan" our site, then I cannot express too
strongly that he start paying a lot closer attention to exactly what is going on around him. This broad will lose what few of us (music) fans he has left. The rest of the "hanger-ons" are doing a pretty good job of distroying his movie career.

This seemingly bottomless well of fans can dry up very, very fast if he is not carefull.
I wonder if he is aware of all the "things" that are going on around him or does he choose to ignore everything and relies on what others tell him? If this is true then his careers will be over and soon! Fans will only take just so much and that includes the diehard loyal fans.
God bless,
Mama san

Sorry, but that is what i hear from everybody, and i don't think its not Stevens fault. It is his fault. Even if he's a big star, come on. Especially in his career, he lives from the fans, because most of the people that buy his cd's are Steven Seagal Fans, and i think only a few people buy his music ONLY because of the music. I was at a country-festival in Zurich. There were big musicians like Rick Trevino oder Tommy Cash (Brother of Johnny Cash). I had the chance to make a picture with all of them, they signed everything, they took time to talk, and there wasn't even a bodyguard... And it had always about 800-1200 people there.

I work in a business where we have to stick to a tight schedule and meet deadlines. I'm assuming that's the case here. While an extra 8 minutes and 20 seconds does not seem like a huge amount of time, that 8 minutes and 20 seconds can quickly turn into 20 minutes, then a half hour, then two hours. (You get the point.) When you have to organize a group of people (band, crew, etc) and catch a plane, bus, whatever to get them from point A to point B, you need to stick to a schedule. He works for a living, just like most of us here do, although his job is way cooler than the rest of ours.

I would consider myself very lucky to see Steven perform, get an opportunity for a quick "Hey, how's it goin'?" and a quick autograph. As for the photo op, that's just icing on the cake. I personaly don't care if you can see how big my butt is, just as long as we are both in it.

I agree - you were lucky to even get an autograph dude - by all accounts, I wouldn't have been at all surprised if he had left the stage, not returned for an encore and not bothered doing any kind of meet and greet whatsoever.

I can see your point that time is definitely of the essence. Being on tour I know he has to be in different cities, so he does have to follow a tight schedule, and it can be hard to manage with a large entourage. The point of the PA and the pictures in my case was I was at a comic convention and we paid strictly to meet Steven, no concert or anything. You had to pay to get in, then you had to buy his cd first (with an autograph fee included) so he could sign it before you had to pay for him to sign anything else you had brought and wanted him to sign (you had to pay extra for each extra item). There were other people there (actors, wrestlers, and other celebrities) all though none where near as big a star as him, they talked to you, stood up, put their arm around you, gave a great pose, and made sure you were happy with the picture (if you had a digital camera) and whatever. I just thought since you were paying simply for 5-10 seconds of his time it wouldn't hurt to be a little more accomodating to his fans, especially when everyone else there was going out of their way to be friendly and grateful to their fans.

Wait a minute - are you saying you had to pay to get your items signed, per item?

Oh, man - that is so déclassé, it beggars the imagination.

On the other hand, I'm not surprised. There is no way he is making any money whatsoever on the musical tour - I suspect his expenses far outpace his takings, and his income from his films is without a doubt shrinking with each new awful offering and the fall-off of fan interest. So making people pay for his autograph, I suppose, is one way of making up the difference....

No. Sorry. That's low, that's really, really low, I don't care how badly he needs the money.

You had to buy his cd for $35 and he would sign it and then you had to pay $20 for every item after that you wanted signed. You could not meet him and he would not sign anything untill you bought his cd.

That's... that's....

I'm speechless.

I could see buying the cd as a prerequisite necessity for a signature, but $20 per siggy for additional items? Limiting items to a CD plus one (without charging extra) to avoid people selling the items on eBay is reasonable, but $20 per....

I'm just...

I don't know what to say.

I don't care what anyone says it costs nothing to be polite! & Steven's PA, or whatever she is, isn't even that! she's a stern faced miserable devil! yeah she may have a difficult job! but it takes nothing, to smile, & say Hello, how do you do, I'm Mr Seagal's PA, or whatever! could please act in an orderly fashion, Mr Seagal needs to sign as many autographs as possible as quickly as possible thank you! whats wrong with that! Being Polite!!!

We've all heard through the yrs about how Seagal can be rude & behave no better than a donkey's hind quarters, but no, no one here believed it - saying the accusers were all idiots, etc....

But now, you all know.
