Have you ever been in hot water for being a Steven Seagal fan?

Obviously, Steven Seagal is somewhat of a political guy. In this day and age, that sort of thing, especially if you don't go with what mainstream politics dictate, rubs a lot of people the wrong way. Have you ever been attacked or griped at or anything for being a fan of Steven Seagal? I feel like his politics are the actual source of much of the criticism leveled against him.

I've been ALWAYS in hot water for being a Seagal fan since his first movie Above The Law in 1988, for one reason or another, always have been a lot of hate towards him.

I think it's because he's a friend of Putin and Lukashenko. Easy way to fall out of favor with some important people.

Yeah, I really got back into Seagal films back around 2008. I was always a fan of his and had bought many of his movies on VHS when I was a kid, I always liked him, but I had a revival of fandom around 2008 when I was getting back into martial arts. I got a lot of groans, laughs, berating even for saying I liked his movies, or I was going to get the then-new DVD of his this weekend. When The Expendables came out, people were much more accepting of Seagal and the old Action stars that people actively mocked in the early '00s. Today, I still get shit for it but not nearly as much as I did in the '00s. Every time that I post about a Seagal DVD I'm watching in my DVD/Blu-ray collecting groups on Facebook, people always chime in how he sucks, or they laugh react, or say something condescending. So, yeah, you do get some shit for being a fan of his. But I won't shy away from saying I'm a fan and love his movies.
