Junior, there's medications you can take that can control the seizures. Surely your doctor has assessed you for which medication would best suit your condition?

You are right about computer screens, though - most people can't see the "flashing" because it goes by so quickly, but it's very much the same as a television screen. Strobe lights, as well, can cause seizures, and there's a rear light for bicycles that's also been known to cause seizures! You must be very careful about these things.

It's known that dogs can sense when a person is about to have a seizure. I believe they train medical assist dogs for this now. Perhaps your doctor can help you out with that.

People live very full and normal lives with epilepsy. Don't let the diagnosis get you down - focus on what you CAN do and not on what you can't. A positive outlook and a good sense of humour have been proven to be effective in dealing with illnesses. If you focus on the diagnosis as bad, it will be bad; but if you focus on what you can do in spite of the diagnosis, you will feel better all around.

seagal jr., There is hope. I take 2 different medicines to
prevent seizures. Mine is not related to epilepsy. There
are many programs to help you, if that is the problem.
I don't mean to be assuming that you need monetary help.
Just check out this one I just found. Sorry that was the wrong link,
I will find the one I am looking for....PM me if you like and we can chat
since we both know about blackouts! hugs, kat

SeagalJr-I'm very sorry to hear about your diagnosis & that you personally won't be able to visit us. Maybe someone can visit for you & help you keep in touch with us?
As the other members have said-there is a lot of help out there for people with Epilepsy! So don't give up-life goes on even if pretty shi*tty at times.

Dear Seagal Junior,
I will pray for you, and all who are sick...
I hope the medicine might help, but it's a shame you can't be here with us, as it seems you want to...
I know Steven is very special, and I too believe he has healing hands...
I hope you will not have any more seizures...
I know that many people do lead fairly normal lives though, maybe someday they will build a screen that will be safer for you to view...
Best wishes to you...

I'm very sorry to hear this, Seagaljr. But epilepsy does not have to mean stopping everything you enjoy doing. It can be controlled with medication. Most people live full, productive lives coping with this.

Take some time to look over the internet, like those links Amos provided, and find out all you can about this. I think it will give you more hope. Then, write down every question you have and ask your doctor next time you see him.

Don't get discouraged, Seagaljr. You have a right to be mad and sad about this. But once you've accepted it and learn much more about it, I hope you will be more encouraged about your future. :)

And you were right. :) All your friends here on the forum do support you and will pray for your strength and courage.

Smile dammit!
All the best seagaljnr. I hope things work out for you. A lad i worked with once had a seizure and i had to pull his tongue out as he was choking. There was also the chance of getting your fingers bitten! So i have seen up close how hard it must be for you.
All i can do is offer sympathy.

I'm so glad it's not the epilepsy you were so concerned about, seagaljr. :) Often that balance problem can be helped with a special type of therapy and/or with medication. I wish you good luck, seagaljr, and good health. :)
