Just a word:
We Americans have just learned a very painful thing about some of us. I’m not bowing in shame, I’m praying for the injured and the sadists who are so sick. You know my opinion that I think we don’t belong in Iraq. We’ve lost men and women and have achieved very little thing except the very good act of freeing a few of Sadam’s prisoners. We can’t patrol the world or stop the 700 to 1000 years of religious feuding they have in the near East. When we leave things will go back to what it was before. There are ways to make a real difference in this world and we should be giving American examples of what good people we are
Our support of Israel should include the demand for decent treatment of the Muslim Palestinians. They have become second class citizens in their own land and their hatred grows daily. What’s the right medicine. Our financial support should be for both sides and require fair adjustments on both sides.
We shouldn’t let the setbacks like illness, mistakes, or the scares in life get us down. But we should admit our mistakes whether honest ones or cover ups. People have often given me a hand up when I needed it as well as prayers that got me this far. And it’s a pleasure to give a bit back. When I die I want to be reborn a nurse. It’s a great life. Something interesting every hour and for every frustration there’s the moment you can make the big difference for somebody. And I’m thankful for friends like all of you, even the some who will want to lynch me. Hallarian

Dixie,

No one should want to lynch you for having your opinion. If we all thought the same what a boring world it would be. I do agree with you about being a nurse. I can't imagine any other profession to be in. The rewards I get back from my pediatric patients and their families are amazing. How pwerful it is to touch a life in such a powerful way!!

NOt going to let anyone lynch ya Hallarian-now if they want to use ya as an pinatta that might beat away some nasty germs huh? (hee hee)

I would definitely say at this day & time that our soldiers are not wanted in Iraq-they shouldn't be there! Why be a sitting duck for people that don't want their help!

Hallarian, Like you told me, no one is getting lynched for their opinions even if they do not agree. It gets heated which I don't like.:(

Hallarian- good words. It is sad that the world has come to this craziness. Seeing the carnage on tv reminds me too much of what when on during 'Nam. I've always hoped that war can be avoided whenever possible - no one truly wants a war. I also believe it is time we remove the troops from Iraq with as much grace as possible. If one reads the Book of Revelations, one can sense the state of the world. We live in very difficult times.

I am reminded of the words from Lord Of The Rings; Fellowship Of The Ring when Frodo said he wished the Ring had never come to him and that none of this had happened. Gandalf said "So do all who live to see such times ... all we need to do is to decide what to do with the time that is given to us ..."

I agree with you wholeheartedly...
Everytime I see people talking about War, and how necesary it is my stomach turns. We are only creating more enemies...I guess we need to ensure that for the future, after all war is good business. I find that often people need someone to blame for whatever goes wrong. It's like playing hot potato with issues instead if solving them.

I can understand your position. Many people here will never put their life in the line for the sake of others like you do. I hope that the current situation doesn't affect you adversly, and that you remain safe in all your travels.

And for those who are so blindly passionate about our government I suggest that if you can not travel, and see how our goverment's policies affect the lives of others at least get informed. Enroll in some college courses.... some Sociology, (cultural) Anthropology, and Economy for starters. After that you tell me...

Why do you think education is not a priority in this country?

Hint: "The manufacture of consent"

We get involved waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy toooooooooooo much...
I mean I know we are in a powerful position to help and that's great, but sometimes we need to let others resolve their own affairs, there is no need to create the suffering that we are creating by diving into the mess...I just shake my head and pray for the destuction to stop...War serves no good, never has a never will, it's just so wrong....:(
