Belly of the Beast

With two run-of-the-mill films already released in 2003 and his last theatrical release having flopped, who would have thought that a third home video entry by Steven Seagal would turn out to be the year's best? The answer might be the film's director Tony Ching Siu-tung, a Chinese action and martial arts film veteran capable of turning just about anyone into a credible martial arts action hero or sprucing up old ones.

Thanks, Nick! Suzi had actually posted this in a different thread, but I'm glad you started this one so it doesn't get buried. I really enjoyed this movie and I'm glad to hear many others did, as well.

Thank you, Nick and Suzi!

Well I am glad you are happy Suziwong, but I am not sure how authentic this is. I mean this is "Kung Fu Cinema" Awards, if I correctly understand that’s not the official committee for selecting film. This is just a bunch of people running a site. This is amusing because, I can just do the same on my web site. Anyways it's always good to see that Steven Seagal's films are appreciated, but I wouldn't celebrate until the official results came in.

No problem, it's always nice to contribute in a positive manner to this site as well as to the fans. I actually don’t visit others sections of the site that much, so I have a good reason for posting this a second time :)

Well, we know it's not the Oscars, Nick, but we're still glad to see it! :D And glad you posted it! ;)

Thank you, Nick!
But this partial sentence
bothered me.
"his last theatrical release having flopped"
Gee! I was unaware that it had "flopped"!!
In fact, most, if not all of us, thought it
did great box-office, considering the limited
number of theaters it was released to!
But thanks for sharing!
God bless,
Mama san

Always a winner

Although I am pleased to hear Belly of the Beast was an award winner I am at the same time very displeased at the uneducated writer who said Steven was in gradual decline ..says who I want stats..Fire Down Below was not a bad film, On Deadly Ground and Half Past Dead were all good, sounds like a bit of jealousy to me.

Being a skilled writer myself I know what Steven expects and I know what works it takes YEARS to know that mans MO Method of OP. means writing so his work and or words sound like he said them (IT IS NOT EASY) yet scripted ask Aikidonna shes seen some of it. So if it took me that long to match my work with his how can a writer of a report KNOW hes in decline, I have seen Stevens work it is NOT in decline thats an opinion not a fact.

Steven is not the easiest to write for you really have to know what he likes what he doesnt (he wont do what he doesnt believe in on film so I have to know if there are objections I have to iron them out before prod point)and I have to pretty well know his personality on a realistic scale, talkng to people who know him etc rather than rely on tabloids which he is not fond of and can get edgy with if dont give him his space..number one priority leave him and his alone when asked to fans are fine but the paparazzi rumor millers better stay a distnce he can smell you a mile away.

Hes very bright/sharp and undoubtedly opinionated but I fail to see the mean part people keep saying he is, thats discipline theres a difference, he is very dedicated to his causes be it environmental or humanitarian so he doesnt always smile..thats okay thats just the way he is (my master is 9th Dan and is the same way) We all know Steven is Master frist actor second hes just different but thats what we love about him his uniqu gift of martial arts and not only as a teacher but enteratins us as well, he got an instructors award BBMagazine in the 80s about time of "Above the Law".

You really have to know his spirit, I do and it is not nor his work in decline if it were I would have known before now.

Thank-You Nick for this exciting news!
It makes me very happy...
Casey is right, HPD did not flop!
I think it's too bad BOTB didn't go to the theater!
Maybe it should, huh? :D
I think the film is great, and I really enjoy it...
Saw parts of it this morning...
As always, I am very impressed, and I admire our beloved sensei now more than ever...
His spirit is not something that can be ignored, and I appreciate so much that he always strives to ease suffering, and make the world a better place with his efforts...
He gives you a special message in his films, a worthy message, and I really respect him for that...
Nice to see that lately he is finally getting some of the recognition which he so rightly deserves...:)

Steven, you are simply wonderful, darling!
And I love you very, very, much!
