Just watched Maximum Conviction today, and was generally pretty satisfied. I'll say that the plot was a bit silly...but on the flip side the cast was good, and the fights were pretty cool. It was also refreshing seeing a film where the bad guys come up against resistance from someone other than just the main characters. In many films, for example Under Siege, the bad guys instantly take over the whole location...and then our hero has to work things out. In this case, the good guys put up meaningful resistance, and the movie depicts the sort of breaking down of this extraction mission into a protracted battle between the two forces. The movie, of course, had the hallmarks of a Seagal movie. Former special ops. CIA bad guys. And the obligatory "our ammo has run out, let's punch each other now" fight at the end.

He gives a nice beating to Michael Paré!

Just watched "Out for Justice," for the second time. Quite a dark movie, with a lot of the f-word! A good one though, and I think some of Steve's best acting actually is when he's telling those stories from his youth, about the bloke in the trunk and then another to his wife (probably the best hubbie/ wife relationship in a Seagal movie also).

One of his best movies, and arguably his best acting!! Lian Neeson praised Steven for this one, he said that he found him very believable. I agree!!!

Out For Justice is one of my go-to Seagal films. I love that one.
I treated myself to a new-old-stock Seagal one sheet of The Glimmer Man the other day. I just got around to framing and hanging it in my living room, so I used that as an excuse to rewatch it. I know it's not his best film but, being totally honest, it's probably one of my favorites to rewatch. I love the end fight scene and the Lento's restaurant brawl. Seagal does well with the buddy cop banter and shows us a more humorous side, even sometimes poking fun at his persona, while still being serious when needed; it was a good blend that I enjoyed.

My favorite is the fight in the parking garage. "I can't fight. It's against my religion." The whole dialogue was hilarious.

My favorite fight scene is where he's in the backseat of a car and beats the shit of two guys with the butt of a pistol, so bad-ass...Seagal showed us many times that to be effective in a fight, is not about Karate, Aikido or Wing-Chun, is about being as cold as ice, focused and use whatever you have at your disposal to destroy your enemy without compassion nor remorse. That's pure Shihan Seagal.

When he beat those 2 with the pistol, that was quite brutal. If anything, I think they downplayed the amount of damage he caused those goons.

Seagal changed action cinema forever, it evolved thanks to him; everybody copies him and almost no one gives him credit. The jealousy towards him is such a disgrace.
When I saw Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in theaters, people cheered when Milla said (paraphrasing), "If that's the best you've got, I'm just going to have to kill you." almost plagiarizing Seagal in The Glimmer Man. One of my friends said she was bad ass with that line. Then I told him Seagal said the EXACT same thing, change a word or two, in The Glimmer Man and he frowned and didn't seem impressed anymore. The anti-Seagal prejudice is out there, no matter what his influence was on film/culture or how entertaining his movies are, they refuse to give him credit.

It's crazy seeing young Chloë Grace Moretz in the movie! But yeah, I didn't like how part of the "Seagal" heist opening was lifted from The Order and the Las Vegas Chase from another film. It has good moments and I can still watch it but those bits nag me.
