With the Patriot coming on network TV, I am thinking about the film, and that charming Dr. Mc Claren...I thought Steven was sooo charming in it, and pretty real to life (in my assumption, could be wrong about that, but don't think so, though) I liked the film, a lot...What are your thoughts on it? I will add mine as time goes on, I am going to watch it, and watch it, and watch it...LOL...:D

they are only two seagal films i dont like and they are partriot and ticker for different reasons.

ticker because it looked cheap and its not really a seagal movie
partiot because it is very slow and boring and not really a action film.i do like all other seagal movies including hpd.

Well I enjoyed it even though I know that it didn't go over well because it was not an "action" film as the public expected. It was about a very serious matter that is very true & happens all the time without societies knowledge. And movie goers don't want to hear about such things, they just want to disappear in a never never land while at the movie theatre.
But as I mentioned the other day,the ending of dropping the FLOWERS out of the helicopter was sortof a rush rush ending to the movie.

I really didn't like it.
I don't mind watching a Steven Seagal movie without much action, but the movie needs at least a good story and good characters...

I didn't like The Patriot much at all.For me,it was too slow, didn't have much action & the ending was a little too t for my taste. It's really no surprise to find that women like this film a lot more than men.

I think he is just the most charming guy in that film...I guess the guys here just don't care for that, but us girls are simply smitten, I know I am...:D What a man...:) Uh, TD I think I need a cold shower now, too...Oh my....;)

<teehee> Ah, Lotussan. I don't think there's any cold water left in the taps in my place, for sure....

I saw the trailer for The Patriot last night on TBS - trouble is, it went by so fast I didn't realise what I was seeing until it was too late. I ended up torturing myself for the next couple of hours, hoping it was going to come on again... they were running a bunch of Bill Murray films back-to-back. Fortunately, they were Bill Murray films that I found tolerable (I did like Groundhog Day and Ghostbusters and Stripes, only I went to bed before Stripes came on, having watched almost 4 consecutive hours of Bill Murray, which is enough for anyone in one sitting, I think).

Anyway, nine days, 7 hours and 50 minutes to go !

Also, Glimmerman is supposed to be on in the next week, as well, so I must scurry out and get a tape so that I can tape it (this version having the extra scenes in it, though with the choice language carefully excised, and the fight scenes edited for content.)

Yes, I think some of the nastier bits of the fight scenes have been edited in the TBS version, but now, having seen the DVD, I can't remember how much. I think part of the restaurant fight scene was edited, and part of the last fight scene with Donald, as well, but I'm not entirely sure - will have to watch the TBS version and compare it to the DVD!

(If there was any way of getting my iMac into the living room, I'd run both films at the same time, just to compare the scenes. My memory ain't what it used to be, alas.)

Well i like The Patriot... I know there is much thinks that going above ower thoughts. but when you read the interview from Steven whit Stanley Weiser. than you know what kind of man Steven Seagal is. So it is a good film for his practice the Boedism.
I translate the interview in Dutch. So i understand what his mening of life is. He is a man that wanded to help people that have less than he have. And thats what he let us see in The Patriot.
It is very dificult for me to set my fellings in Englisch but i hope you understand what i meen.

Love Connie :)

Personally speaking, I did'nt mind "The Patriot". From seeing its British Network Premier on Sky Movies, 5 years ago, I actually enjoyed it.

OK, I admitt it contained little action/martial arts, but I have to say I found it a nice (if slight) change of pace for Seagal where he acted a bit deeper than in his standard baddie-bashing roles. He convinced me of being a caring father, of wanting to rid the little Montana town of the plague, of his cynasism of western medicine etc. In saying that I am in no way suggesting that the Acadamy holds over its Best Actor gong for him but he proved to me in that movie that he is capable of more than one-dimensional performances.

I myself found it to be more watchable than "Fire Down Below" which I hated as an action movie and I also thought Seagal was incredibly bored and wooden in that one. Its not an awful movie but one of my least favourite starring Seagal. "The Patriot" did not push its message down your throat the way his two other ecological movies did.

One criticism of the movie is its ending which seemed a little tacked on and anti-climactic. Though that still did'nt hurt the movie overall for me.

Personal Overview -: Not nearly as bad as its made out to be.

Peace

Thank-You Connie...I am glad you can see what I see...I think what you said is so right, he is a caring man, who wants to help others, and I think that is the kind of man who deserves to be treated well, honored, respected for his compassion...The movie is wonderful and shows this...I think he's really great...He just stirs all sorts of wonderful emotions deep inside me...Now I really I want to read this intereview, where is it?

I really liked the movie...Such a compassionate doctor, and a loving daddy...It made my heart just melt...I think he is very special,he touches me so much...Connie thank-you, I will read the intereview tonight...Though I probably have if it is one on this site...I would likely spend all my time here, but momma is taking me out today...

For those who thought it was too slow, it's too late for you to ever enjoy any really good film with any depth. You're Iq's are already going down.

SO in otherwords I enjoyed it.

For any who may be interested in the DVD.....the Region 2 version is the one to get.....from what I've seen the R2 has both widescreen and full screen format...along with the trailer....whereas the R1 has the widescreen movie only.....
and not even the trailer which they must have made before they realised that it wasn't going to get a theatrical release.....unless it appeared in some countries briefly....
this is unknown to me.....I know it went straight to video and cable TV(HBO) here in the US...after seeing the Ticker actually had a theatrical release in Asia......it just may be possible the TP did also.....anybody know??????

That was the same thing to me I didn't like about the movie-this ending looked really stupid and spoiled the whole picture. But in general I love the movie a lot, just love it.

It was on TV last night, so I watched it again. This time I didn't mind the ending as much because I paid more attention to what the guy in the helecoptor was saying. He was instructing people to pick up the petals and boil them. I never heard that before, so I thought that just raining petals was supposed to cure people by osmosis -- and that was really stupid!

Anyway, every body in the town should have been dead by the time that the helecopter arrived, but ... oh... what a detail that is!

Also, it struck me how lean and thin he looked in this movie!
