Sources say Marker could be the last consideration for theatrical release for Steven Seagal.

Sony is considering this film (Marker) for a theatrical release through Universal pictures, though the chances of this are incredibly slim.

No, I don't think so. First off, I don't believe that the studio is seriously considering a theatrical release for Marker. It was shot with a lower budget than most of Seagal's DTV projects, and it was finished production in less than a month. To me, this doesn't scream "theatrical release."

Also, while there's always a chance that this could be Seagal's last film, it's not likely. With his movie career supplying a steady stream of very serious income, he doesn't have much reason to quit anytime soon.

So, I don't believe that it's his last shot at anything, and I don't think it's any kind of shot at a theatrical release.

I'm not in the biz, but I'm pretty sure that Sony, after spending $10 million to produce Marker, would not sell it off to Unviersal, who are no way affiliated or linked to them. Bottom line, if Sony thought there was money to be made from putting this out in cinemas, they would do it themslves through their Screen Gems division.
