Movies before release on internet

Its just ridiculous to me that this movie has been up on youtube for at least a week and the director/producers/studio either does not know about it or dont care about it. You dont see this with other action stars, being this readily available. I have already preordered the dvd from amazon but this is going to cause the movie to lose a lot of money in sales. Has any of the moderators here told Keoni Waxman or someone at Voltage about this?

This isn't just Seagal. It actually has happened to all the other action guys lately too. Most of Dolphs recent ones have been spread online like wildfire, and likewise Van Dammes last few were out well before release, including Enemies Closer.
It's unfortunately common. There's nothing Waxman or Voltage could do either. A friend of mine has released a Documentary, the difference for him was it was personal project, self funded, and so he's reliant on the money he makes from it. Despite being a niche product with a very selected audience, it also spread online on torrents etc. Unfortunately he found it hard to quell this. You can contact google etc, let them get at links etc, but for every one removed, another will just pop up within hours. So my friend considered paying a company that specialises in identifying and removing pirate links, but at the end of the day, for him, the cost isn't worth it.

It's something all musicians, film makers etc just have to deal with. The way to get around it is to make your product good enough that people will still purchase it if they've watched it illegally.

Piracy, as well as the economy has effected movie budgets, but these films will still turn a healthy profit.

Its ridiculous spending ten mil on a film if this is the end result. People are just copying it off of these sites and selling it on the cheap on the streets. All Waxman and the studios are doing is making movies for free distribution.

This is not just a problem for the Seagal-type movies, this goes through all layers of movies, music, games, e-books and so forth.

But there are 2 sides to the story. And no, I'm not saying piracy is a right thing to do. Yes, piracy potentially damages revenues for the entertainment industry. but there have been cases where due to the positive comments of people that saw the movie illegally actually boosted sales and cinema visits.

Furthermore, severall musician, moviemakers etc have posted there work online for free themselves.

So it seems the industry itself is not always sure what they want with the internet.

And to be honest, most movies still make a profit, even crappy ones like Attack Force. The result of that is that more crap gets made.

Still, if you want to support the stars and moviemakers then buy the original movie.

Please tell me: the reviews for FOE on this site are all coming from members who downloaded the movie right?

I know it's not the way, but sometimes I understand. For example, a lot of people from other countries will have to wait sometimes 4-5 months before the movie comes out in their country. And let's be honest, you are dying to see the movie and it's available online. It's really tempting then.....Sometimes I watch the movie from the internet BUT I always buy the original copy when it's available in my country!

Yes i would think so as it would be very unusual for them to be shipped over 2 weeks ahead of schedule.
