Btw, what's the rule regarding photographs? Do we need permission? Also is info fair game even if inaccurate? I mean no one even knows Sensei's birthday for sure...I guess I am going to have to meet him so I can ask him myself! :D

LOL..there is no rule..if everybody waited to get permission; there'd be no pics on the internet.....
my thoughts are......I use any and everything I want.........'till I get a letter from Warner, etc telling me to pull a certian item I use whatever I feel is needed.......
It's really up to the people that run a particular site that determines what goes & what doesn't.......I've gotten jumped on at some sites about "copywrite infringement" and "taking the food off a artists table"..lol.....seriously.....
The commercial sites ...EX: StevenSeagal.com......would have to be a bit more cautious in this area due to possible litigations....that's why independent sites are always better...because anything goes and allows us to use and make available things normally not obtainable due to copywrite.
That's one of the reasons I like it here......we have free reign to post anything ....and the site is also "under control" so things don't get out of hand......actuall to me......it's the best set up one can have......many people put up sites or message boards and then just let them go.....and of course they turn into crap after awhile(ss.com)
So in essense......if it's your site or page......you determine your boundaries....
Back in the early days of my site....Maavwick & I started on the same weekend and we worked together looking for this and that......she went one direction and I another so we didn't post the exact same things....during the course of the 1st year Seagal contacted her and I asked her to ask him about web-sites.....he said he really doesn't mind web sites about him at all as long as what we post is truthful in nature.......this is why Maavwick changed her site name to "the only we-site officially endorsed by Steven Seagal"....(this was 5 years before SS.COM saw the light of day.......why they waited so long is anybody's guess.....I was told it was to cash in on Exit Wounds publicity in order to sell merchandise....I also was told(from Ten Shin Dojo) that Seagal was not exactly fond of this idea)
so even if somebody jumped on my ass about using this or that it would be the company worried about some kind of loss profits and not Seagal himself.....but then this was back in '97...during the release of Fire Down Below and Seagal was very more open at that time.
John
so all in all ....it's up to you to determine what "rules" pertain to your site.
PS: I've always seen '52 as his birthday.....no matter what interview or article I've seen......I believe the whole thing with '51 started as a internet typ-o...and it just passed around just like pic images do......
anyway..Suzi posted a picture from a magazine at Seagal's 50th birthday party.......why not just look at the date to confirm?
There's been a few pics from his birthday parties....he always jams with a band because that's what he enjoys doing.
Now the birthday pics are not to be confused with the various Steven Seagal Day pics.....those were given in honor for some accomplishment

Holy sh*t JL - you knew Maavwick? Hahahaha! I used to check her site every day - at one time it was the only decent source of info on the net about Seagal. This was way back when Fire Down Below was in the process of being released. What happened to her and her site?

Knew her? we were practically co-workers.......we used to talk every day because we both were constructing Seagal sites and just so happened to start on the exact same weekend......she was the 1st one to "steal" all my pic...lol
at the time FDB was upcoming........we both started in June.....FDB wasn't due out till like Sept.......so we had an on-going thing about who could find the 1st pic from FDB...there had been no pics up to that time.....and I finally found the 1st one on a Dutch site......it was the picture of Seagal wlaking away from the mission truck and it said "Fire Down Below" in yellow letters below it......that was the 1st one we ever saw of the "new" movie....in those days we both spent hours on-line doing searches ..trying to find whatever info there was on Seagal....the only other site I remember was the original"unofficial Steven Seagal Resource Page"...if you remember that.....he's the one that had the link to the original Steven Seagal Ten Shin Dojo site(long gone now).we allstarted with 3-4 pages ....and branched out........I was trying to find info and Maavwick(Allison) was into looking for pics.........so it became a nice exchange......
I really can not say what happpened to her......after 2 years I left and moved up state for a coupkle of years ......never was able to do any internet stuff.....no access...up north they never even heard of internet....lol.....seriously.......on-line was just coming into being and there were no local connects......so even if you got on-line.it was a long distance call.....which is totally impractical.....
when I came back from the North....I started to get back into trying to update my site....by that time..The Patriot had been long out and Ticker had already been filmed.....I looked up Allison and all I saw was that her site was down...the last conversations I had with her had to do with her going to North Carolina....and that was about it....during the course of the last year..she claimed Seaagl called her once....spoke briefly.......and then she asked him if he would call again...that's when I asked her to ask him about web sites......she posted the calls on her site...but it was the usual batter a female would ask.....lol
I don't believe Seagal called anymore after the 2 times......and she asked if she could use him name as endorsement on her site.....that's why she changed the name to the "only site on the web officially endorsed by Seagal"...which (if true) it was......
the SS.com was long way off.......looking back on things..I wish I would've saved the TenShin site as off line pages......and during the course of the years had been trying to aquire seminar footage(which I was invited to view) by a Ten Shin student(under Matsuoka)....and until recently had been trying to see if it was possible to get one of those Ten Shin jackets($50) that Seagal did the calligraphy on......they had 2 types.a $35...white with Ten Shin logo & the $50 red with black calligraphy(I still may have the pics on an old disk but not sure)....so after all this time since mid '97.I guess I'm the only "oldie" still around...lol

Why do you say that?
There isn't a whole lot to update about.....in recent years Seagal info has been sparse and sporadic.....

There's always something..it's a matter of if you want to post it or not.....there's a ton of stuff I purposely don't post....but as far as "recent" or new news...there really hasn't been much except the article Suzi posted(and I grabbed too and posted..lol) called "Belly of the Kingdom".....now if some pics of "Out For A Kill" would show up(I only have those ones from Shero)...that would be nice....
John

You keep mentioning 'dishes'....I take it you spend some time in the kitchen.....here's some recipes from Vegetarian Times about Seagal......if interested.
