Yes. but in the end, its all about money. Perhaps movies that have a rating for adult content in Korea dont do as well as other places. Or maybe they want to try and make the film a family film about redemption and self- courage of a fighter, sort of like the movie "Lionheart" but cleaner, instead of an all out bloody action flick.

Lionheart

I understand where you're coming from Reservoir and certainly with the little girl seemingly so central to the story it seems likely your family film theory is correct. If it turns out anything like Lionheart (known here in the UK as AWOL) it should be good as that was a great film. The cutting for a rating can indeed benefit money-hungry distributors who want the younger audience too but these days as us Seagal fans know it can back-fire as it did with Half Past Dead: Sony alienated Seagal's fans by not making it a solid 'R', and invited a 'PG-13' audience instead who aren't as familiar with his films. It was a bad idea all round and was shown in the poor revenue, a shame as it was a decent film and would have been a terrific 'R'. While we're on the subject of 'Clementine' when it comes out it may be a good idea for someone to tell the rest of us where we can get it as I haven't got high hopes for it being released in the US or the UK.

Right. If it does come out internationaly, I am sure it will be considered a foreign film. Everyone should expect to see it in the foreign section or special interests, if it is released at all.

Hope so

Fingers crossed Reservoir, though it will end up subtitled if it is shot in Korean, I'd probably prefer a dubbed version to subs.

Problem with a dubbed version is that they'll dub everyone's voice, including Steven's. Subtitles are better, in my opinion. And the article referred to cutting the explicit language, not the fight scenes, so I doubt there's any worries there.

All moot, though, if they do not release it outside of Korea.

It would be interesting to see him do Tae Kwon Do, though.

Korean

That reminds me, does Steven actually speak Korean? I'm not so sure that he does, maybe he'll be one of those silent bad guys.

Hopefully not a silent bad guy. I like it when he uses verbal intimadation before attacking someone. It wouldnt be that cool without it.

Very true...
I think the dangerous voice really has an indimidating effect....
It tells them he's serious...
I found that in the foreigner it was very effective...
Like when he tells the guy to stay away from him, or something like that, can't recall the exact line...
He warned him, but he didn't listen so he got shot...
If he told me something so serious, I think I would listen...
I have noted also, that with the voice dubbing in the last few films, that his "signature sound effects" or the sounds he makes when he's striking or breaking something are missing too, I always got a kick out of the sounds he would make when finishing the bad guy off, it had an even bigger impact on the fight scenes for me....
Would someone who knows the name of the MA term for this type of sound, please help me out?
What do you call those noises?

I'm not sure if I would struggle to get a foreign movie with Seagal as a co-actor ( who knows if it is more than 15 mins.? ) myself if it is not released outside of Korea.

I've practiced and watched a lot of martial arts styles and I was thinking in reply to your final thought. It looked to me that Steven Seagal does do some Tae Kwon Do-type stuff in BOTB.

Well, I think I would still want a copy, surely I will rent if that is all I can do, and also, I think my mom would really like to watch it...
I don't know the difference in the MA styles, I was really surprised to hear that he used Kung-Fu in Exit Wounds, I didn't know what I was seeing at the time, I only knew that I really liked his moves, and I think that BOTB is just fantastic, personally...:)

Dubbing of Seagal's film and MA styles ...

Well, I wouldn't say that the dubbed version would be 'worse' than a subtitled version. As a kid, I watched Seagal's early movies on Russian television, and all of them were dubbed, but you could make out Steven Seagal's voice, his speech patterns, and his intonation every time he glanced or opened his mouth.

I very much doubt and do not think that Steven Seagal used any TKD in BOTB ... and in seeing as the choreographer for Exit Wounds was a Kung-Fu stylist himself, I don't see the surprise of SS demonstrating his Kung-Fu (especially noted during their sword fighting against Michael Jai White).

I was talking about seeing him do TKD in Clementine.

Since he didn't do his own fighting in BOTB, the point of what he used or did not use there is moot.

Clementine ... sure ... but not in anything else Steven Seagal has done by far.

TD ... it's not 'moot' at all. And it's quite obvious that there was no TKD display by SS's character in BOTB.
