This is just an idea, and i'm very serious as are some fans on IMDB. I would like some of you in the know with Joe Halpin to seriously run this by him to see if it could ever be a reality..here goes

Say if most of fans on imdb, the unofficial site and in general contributed a smallish sum anywhere between $100-1000 quite a large amount could be raised to at least get an executive producer role into his films. as far as i'm aware studios esp at dtv level dont care where the money is coming from as long as its coming from somewhere; given the budget for his films these days seems to be at least $12m im sure a dedicated fanbase could at least raise $2m giving you quite some say into the making of the film...who would be up for it?

Since we're in touch with Halpin on here, I don't see why we can't at least get his thoughts on it and to guide us through the business side of things. First things first though, who would be seriously interested?

Although I'm in contact with Joe I have absolutely no reason for putting money in his (unfortunately) mostly bad new movies...the movie will not be better when there are just 2 millions more...there must be 20 millions at minimum.

I'm sorry but this is lost money in my opinion.

EDIT: Steven is a millionaire, he have his own jet f.e, HE should put money in his movies if he is really interested to have good results.

Better spend the money for poor african people or WWF etc.

That is absolutely right. 2 milions make nothing, it is neccessery to put more money for a good movie. Steven should give his own money to it more.

Seagal does not need $2 million more to make a decent movie. All he needs is to give a damn. All he needs is to care enough to choreograph decent enough fight scenes (and actually act in them) that editors won't feel the need to butcher his fights. Even in The Keeper, when Seagal has that guy's arm bent back and is slapping his face, telling him about how he doesn't kill children, etc., if you watch carefully, as Seagal slaps him he loses the hold on the guy's wrist. The "bad guy" compliantly holds his wrist in place so that Seagal can grab it again. Laughable. If Seagal gave a damn he would have said "cut!" and the scene would have been refilmed. All Seagal fans want is to see Seagal acting like a badass and performing some genuine Aikido onscreen. All they want is to see Seagal display his martial art filmed in a way that you can actually see it. The camera needs to sit back and actually capture what is going on in the fight scene. Editors need to be told to back off and not butcher the result. This does not require added money; it only requires Seagal giving a damn.

They should run an auction to be an extra in one of his films, & maybe have different levels: one level, you can be someone who gets beat up by him, another, someone who stands next to him, etc....

Recently, there were a couple of auctions to win a featured extra role in a couple of Clint Eastwood films, the first one went for over $10,000 & the last one went for over $14,000. Proceeds donated to charity, of course.

great, so stop watching his movies if you don't like him. stop watching him and looking for any stupid moment in the scene and making a whole line of history to it. "he loses the hold on the guy's wrist" wooow maybe his having a small coma in it. jesus I reale don't understand what is going on with this forum.

I see that even if Seagal him self meet you all and beat up all of you with one hand, you will probably (after waking) say that there is something wrong with him becouse hi didn't use his second hand and foot to beat you up.

? What's up? Al is beeing said is that 2 milion extra budget won't cut it anymore. As stated in many other threads we all still like Seagal and for the most part his movies. Unfortunately Seagal has been condemned to lesser quality movies with the occasional exception (PW, UJ, DTK, TK). He has put us on a rollercoaster ride of quality, unfortunately the ride doesn't make it to the top lately.

Seagal has, as far as we know, a lot of money which he doesn't invest in his movie projects. On the other hand, perhaps he is less wealthy then we all think.

But if Seagal really wants to make a comeback he'll put his money on the line and take a change. Get a good crew, the regular budget of 10 -15 milion $ and then invest 5 milion $ of his own money. For salary only take a % of the profits.

I mean, Seagal takes in about 5 to 7 milion $ per movie (Roel Reine mentioned this in an interview about PW). On a budget of 10 milion that doesn't leave much for the other production value.

So instead of taking money out of the budget he needs to put money in. The crew (good/known director, camera crew, stunt crew, sfx company etc.) and put in an effort.

Do it right and the investment will get paid back in no time and he'll make a profit.

If TK was made with more budget and just a little bit better crew (more famous people) and had some better worked out action (better camerawork, better/longer fights, better props/sets, better co actors etc) it could have been on EW level of quality and potential.

Don't get me wrong, we cann't blame everything on Seagal but he had his part in his own degrading career.

He still has the potential to surprise everybody with at least once more with a gem like EW, ITTS or US.

peace

its weird because Steven is very involved in the writing/pre-production process but he then seems to not care about how the product will turn out(he still doesnt do his on ADR or whoever its called)

"Seagal has, as far as we know, a lot of money which he doesn't invest in his movie projects." that's good becouse he can invest it in charity, poor kids and music.

he has enough money to invest in both, I'm sure!

He probably has, but he is probably afraid of investing money to his movies. I don't know why. If he puts enough effort into his movies, the movie will be surely good. With a bigger budget, it can not be bad.
