I watched a film called replicant on sky moviemax last night with van damme....i watched it because at the beginning it said directed by ring lam and i was going to check the fight scenes carefully.after watching it i have to say i was not impressed in fact i think van damme had body double in some of the scenes and the fights were not edited well in my view......anyone else seen this film?

Yep I saw it-actually I thought it was different to get to watch him get beat up! hee hee
I have'nt seen "The Replicant" but have heard that it is one of few Van Damme films to win any sort of critical praise as he is supposed to put in a decent performance. I have seen the other Van Damme film directed by Ringo Lam called "Maximum Risk" and I thought it was crap! Hardly anything happens in it and it takes itself to seriously instead when in fact it should have been a balls to the wall action fest. One or two of the fight scenes are actually quite good but the ending is dull and anti climactic. Two very good car chases though.
Even with a decent actor it still would'nt be a film I would particularly remember.

Really??????? maybe I got the wrong movie.......
I see it's on TV this month again.......I'll have to catch it to see if it's the one I was thinking about.....

I actually thought that Replicant was a return to form (of sorts) for Van Damme.
