For me he doens't have to do big action flicks where he plays the hero, because those days are over. But I remember I felt so happy when he did Machete. There where posters in cinema's with Steven Seagal again! He has to accept different roles in big movies ( like he should have done with EX3). Dolph Lundgren and Jean Claude Van Damme are understanding that the simple action dtv movie doesn't get them anywhere, so they are trying a lot of different things. To me everything Seagal has done the last 5 years looked the same! If you were watching tv and suddenly a Seagal film pops up you can't see if you are watching True Justice, Dangerous Man, Max Con of Force Of Execution. They all look the same (cinematography, fight scenes, lightning)

He's not done, but his career is. He won't be done until the big man up in sky takes him away (which hopefully won't be for a long time). But the glory days of his career are behind him, and while that's okay with him (seemingly) and with a lot of us, it's just a cold reality that every actor has to face.

I agree i too hope that he is on this earth an while yet.. and yes just like all the great actors Steven too one day will hang up his belt and that will be it but i hope we do here of him still

Yep, this is where Sly has probably done him a slight disservice. Obviously you have to take what Sly says with a pinch of salt. Anytime he talks to anyone about possibly appearing in any of the Expendables films, he tells the world. Suddenly that gives the impression, to all the movie news sites, that an official offer has been made.

I don't think Seagal has ever had an official offer for any of these films and I think that's because the Lerners would never allow it. It's not like having Seagal would mean the difference between the film flopping or not. He's not essential enough that the Lerner's would back down and settle their differences with Seagal. I also think Seagal would expect a significant amount of money to appear too. Not simply for appearing in this film, but regarding money he still feels he might be owed from Nu Image/Millenium.

In truth Seagal probably wouldn't be interested in it any way, even if he was given a genuine offer. I don't think it's his cup of tea.

I disagree...I think if offered a role he would take it

Dont forget he begged Trejo to find him a role in Machete so they give a villian role

also he has just worked with Steven Austin and now working with Trejo and Rhames shows that he is now willing to work with other more famous actors

I agree with Dida though that he needs a change of film...the trailer for FOE looks good but also looks a bit like DM,MC,TJ ect

i think Seagal in a small role in a film like Dark Knight would be good

quite a few B movie actors appeared in those films..Eric Roberts,Michael J White,Rutgar Hauer

it would something that seagal could do but also different than what hes done before

There are going to be more Sin City films. There's always a chance Robert Rodriguez could cast Seagal again, as he's a fan and didn't have any problems with him on set. You never know.

that would actually be great to see him as some sinister character in Sin City :)

id be much more keen to see that than EX3

the thing with EX3 for me is even if seagal was in it he would be just doing the same stuff he does now but with a bigger budget...i think he be bored and act bored in it

something like sin city would be great has its something new and fresh

Can we please do something about the douchebag that is clogging the "what's new" page with spam?!? Can an admin please block that dick? Thanks.

I would hardly approach a Seagal film expecting quality acting.. I said "good projects", meaning compared to some of the preceding films, the use of doubles was less pronounced, the direction and production qualities were decent, and so on..
True - I very much agree. Good point.

I really dont see what the big deal is about Seagal not being in EX3. We all knew nothing was for sure yet and it only had a 50% chance og happening. Some people just get their hopes up way to much, even though they know they shouldn't.

Speaking for myself, Sly's comments via twitter implying direct communication with Seagal gave me a little more hope this time around, but just like many of the other projects that have come and (seem to have) gone, I maintained that even an official 'yes' wouldn't have been set in stone until he (Seagal) was seen on set.

I can now appreciate a comment that was made earlier in this - or another - thread, that even if he was to partake, his performance wouldn't present him in a different light or perspective, aside from increased production costs - in any case, it just would have been nice to see him there amongst his peers from the genre and time period, even if it was a cameo.

Anyway, hopefully there will be a new project to look forward to..

Currently, I'm not interested in the new Expendables movie anymore. It's a pity that Seagal and Chan apparently won't be in it. The only good and adequate addition is Wesley Snipes. Gibson, Banderas and Ford are good actors, but not action guys in general. They should have contacted more old school action guys instead. Where are Chow Yun-Fat or Mark Dacascos for example? I also don't like the addition of the young guys and the fact that they film most of the movie in Bulgaria again.

I'm also not looking forward to Seagals next projects. Obviously, he don't care about his fans anymore.

What I don´t like is that Stallone didn´t tell the fans on his Twitter account why Seagal isn´t in there after he told the world that Seagal is interested in it if the part fits. We don´t know whether Seagal didn´t like the part or whether Sly didn´t send Seagal the script with his role.

Again though, this is all guess work. It's taking a throwaway, slightly teasing comment from Sly as Gospel. What about the other countless names Sly has name checked but haven't signed on?
I've no doubts Sly wanted Seagal on board. Whether Seagal wanted to come on board is another matter. But as said before, if you look at this think logically, there's a good reason why Seagal probably never got an official offer. That is Avi Lerner and Millennium films.
There's too much bad blood between them. I believe Seagal still believes he's owed money from them. I also believe Millennium feel like Seagal owes them money.

Until either party budges, which is unlikely, then no matter how much Sly may have wanted it, it just won't happen. Sly also doesn't sign the cheques.
I think Seagal would probably have been on board if not for the history between him and Millennium. He did Machete after all. His ego wasn't too big for that.

And you should also believe that if Seagal had been given a direct offer and turned it down, Sly would tell the world. He did so when JCVD turned down the first film, and also did so when Willis asked for too much money. If Seagal has turned down a genuine official offer, we would know.

Seagals made a lot of bad career decisions and his next film does sound awful. But in this case I'm not getting on his back too much because it was always going to be unlikely that he'd get an official offer. We also don't know from the terms of the court case of 10 years back. It might actually not be legally possible for Seagal to work for Millennium films again. Something could be done to fix that, or an agreement could be reached by both parties but it would be a long drawn out affair and too time consuming. Too much trouble just to get him in as a supporting player/cameo.

I think we should move on and forget about Seagal in EX3 and just see how his future movies is going to be. I hope he gets offered another part in a world wide theatrical release, even if it's a Machete like part. I miss seeing him on the big screen.

Mason, maybe that's the best thing to do, indeed. Move on...We can't change it.

Not just the court cast also dont forget that Nu Image/Millennium bought Killing Point(Kill Switch) and changed it by adding fight scenes/dubbing ect without Seagals permission

I remember Joe Halpin(I think it was him) saying something about seagal never wanted them(Millennium) near his work again after that

Seagal wrote Kill Switch has a thriller more than an action film so he was pissed that they just wnet and changed it back into another action film

Exactly. Unless Millennium sell the rights to the Exp franchise to another company, which given it's one of their only successes on the big screen, is very unlikely, I don't see Seagal ever being on board, be it 3, 4, 5 or however many they manage to do. In all honesty I think it'll end on the third one anyway. People will lose interest after the next one because they're basically gimmick films.

He just doesn't seem interested in movies anymore. It's like he looks away from the camera when they are filming. Look at how he acted early in his career vs. now (he was engaging and believable). Now it looks like he is reading a script from notecards, punching a few people (or his double is), and getting his paycheck. He just seems bored.
