Steven Seagal Does Casting For GENGHIS KHAN In Beijing (MonkeyPeaches Exclusive)

March 6, 2003

According to Beijing Times, Steven Seagal has arrived in the city for his GENGHIS KHAN. Besides casting several martial-art actors, Seagal was looking for a tall and pretty girl who can dance. He said he would personally teach her martial art. More than 20 girl models represented by Pierre Cardin has been interviewed by Seagal last night at a restaurant. Seagal said "the script is done and the finance is secured - about 60 million dollars (US). But I can't tell you the source of the money. You have wait until the news conference next time. It hasn't been decided yet who would be the partner of GENGHIS KHAN, but I can assure you the shooting will start in March or April next year."

Thanks Amos, and Justice...:)
That means out of reach is yet another film? Yay...But he sure is busy, isn't he? Sigh, such ambition...But he must get totally worn out from working so hard...How admirable...He's got drive and dedication, that's for sure...What a wonderful man...:)

Wow, 60 million dollars is a pretty big budget, but it should make a pretty good film. Lets hope Warner Bros is gonna back this movie and maybe US3 is just around the corner..

I guess a lot will depend on the success of Out Of Reach & The Yakuza, also through Franchise/Warners.

Perhaps Out Of Reach will have a budget of $40m after all:)

So, Out For a Kill, if I'm lucky, I will watch in 2004... :(

I just had to log-in again to get in here...I wonder why that is? Looks like Suzi's problem might be contagious, I had it happen several times before too, for some reason. That was a while ago though. I think there might be a few unknown glitches in this system...Oh well...
I'm in for now!

Asian friends of Steven concerned about

The Ghenghis Khan movie sounds exciting except my Asian friends are scratching their heads about how the Chinese will influence it. The Han or Chinese express strongl prejudice against Mongolians and all other Western Asians. Chinese in general consider Ghenghis Khan a barbarain invader. Western Asians in Mongolia, Sinkiang, and Tibet think the is was our George Washington. I had hoped Steven's studies about the great Khan would be helpful to Mongolia. Searching for a pretty dancer makes the movie sound less serious and maybe like the old revised history of previous films about the Khans.:(
