Oh no, now I have to THINK. I am not sure i can agree with this one Myst.
There are some people who have been in my life who I REALLY don't want in my heart.
Does this mean I have to re-think the meaning of forgiveness? Can I truly forgive without love?? Do I have to love those who have chosen to hurt and/or abandon me?

Think tigerfeet

does your heart contain only love....?

is there not room for compassion, caring forgiveness?

Surely even my worst enemy has some smidgen of goodness in there...

do I not have room in my heart to ask for redemption of my enemy?

For those are the ones you should hold close....

The thing is, I wonder whether compassion, caring and forgiveness are not parts of love, rather than separate categories.
I am sure that everyone has some smidgen of goodness (even me;)).
Redemption... I am not sure it is up to me to ask for it.

And in case this comes across the wrong way: I'm just trying to learn and understand, Myst, not argue with you. :)

I understand, Michelle. but I learned one sad day that even the person who has treated you the very worst has pain and troubles of their own that you may never know about until it is too late.

Now I pause and ask myself, "if this one were to die in the next instant what would I do as a god-loving human being?".

Some times the answer is difficult to deal with at the moment, but in the end my teaching reaches out and I know the answer in my heart.

Not perfect - but almost there - (Don't laugh God, you are working on me and in me!)

Interesting, Myst. Usually the question people pose is, "If I were to die in the next instant, etc."
To think of it from the perspective of if someone else were to die changes the answer, although there are links.
My father (who is in his eighties) has had Alzheimer's for a few years. Last fall, his condition deteriorated rapidly and he had to be admitted to a full-care facility. He did not remember me or my sister, or any of his grandchildren. Basically, he lives in his own world now. I am thankful that it is a happy world, but it was hard to accept that my father was, in any relational sense, gone. I could no longer communicate with him as my father. I asked myself then, what had been left unsaid, and had to accept that it would now remain unsaid.
It reminded me of the necessity of living in the moment, and of appreciating who we have with us, really appreciate them, because life is all too transient.

Isaiah 40: 28 - 31 & Proverbs 3: 5 & 6

"They that wait upon the LORD, shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as Eaglses. They shall run and not become weary, walk and not faint...They that Wait upon the LORD ADONAI."

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Lean not to your OWN understandin but in ALL Your Ways acknowledge HIM and HE shall direct your path way."

Eagles Have the ability to Rise above the storms and use the power of the wind to glide through the air with ease. The LORD helps us to do the same thing, to carry us through the Storms in our lives... Helping us to Overcome with HIS Strength and HIS Wisdom and HIS Guidance and HIS Protection over us. May the LORD give each of you Strength, Wisdom, Guidance & Protection Through the Storms & Challenges in your own lives....May you be a light in a dark world, who NEEDS the LORD's Love.

Love Always Your Sister,

Do not keep the alabaster box of your friendship sealed until your friends are dead.
Fill their lives with sweetness.
Speak approving, cheering words while their ears can hear them, and while their hearts can be thrilled and made happier.
The kind of things you mean to say when they are gone, say before they go.

I AM THERE
Do you need Me ?

I am there.

You cannot see Me, yet I am the light you see by.
You cannot hear Me, yet I speak through your voice.
You cannot feel Me, yet I am the power at work in your hands.
I am at work, though you do not understand My ways.
I am at work, though you do not understand My works.
I am not strange visions. I am not mysteries.

Only in absolute stillness, beyond self, can you know Me
as I AM, and then but as a feeling and a faith.

Yet I am here. Yet I hear. Yet I answer.
When you need ME, I am there.
Even if you deny Me, I am there.
Even when you feel most alone, I am there.
Even in your fears, I am there.
Even in your pain, I am there.

I am there when you pray and when you do not pray.
I am in you, and you are in Me.
Only in your mind can you feel separate from Me, for
only in your mind are the mists of "yours" and "mine".
Yet only with your mind can you know Me and experience Me.

Empty your heart of empty fears.
When you get yourself out of the way, I am there.
You can of yourself do nothing, but I can do all.
And I AM in all.

Though you may not see the good, good is there, for
I am there. I am there because I have to be, because I AM.

Only in Me does the world have meaning; only out of Me does the world take form; only because of ME does the world go forward.

I am the law on which the movement of the stars and the growth of living cells are founded.

I am the love that is the law's fulfilling. I am assurance.
I am peace. I am oneness. I am the law that you can live by.
I am the love that you can cling to. I am your assurance.
I am your peace. I am ONE with you. I am.

Though you fail to find ME, I do not fail you.
Though your faith in Me is unsure, My faith in you never
wavers, because I know you, because I love you.

Beloved, I AM there.

James Dillet Freeman

This poem received a lot of attention in 1971 when it was taken to the moon by astronaut James B. Irwin on Apollo 15. Irwin’s mother gave it to him before the flight and he actually left a copy of the poem on the moon. The author James Dillet Freeman is poet laureate of the Unity School of Christianity at Unity Village. He wrote the poem in 1947.

We can Overcome

Romans 8: 31 - 38 "What, then, are we to say to these things? If GOD ADONAI is for us, who can be against us? HE who did not spare even HIS own SON YESHUA, but gave HIM up on behalf of us all - is it possible that, having given us HIS SON YESHUA, he would not give us everything else too? So who will bring a charge against GOD ADONAI's chosen people? Certainly not GOD ADONAI-HE is the one who causes them to be considered righteous. Who punishes them? Certainly Not the MESSIAH YESHUA, who died and-more than that-has been raised, is at the right hand of GOD ADONAI and is actually pleading on our behalf! Who will seperate us from the Love of the MESSIAH? Trouble? Hardship? Persecution? Hunger? Poverty? Danger? War? As the Tanakh puts it "For your sake we are being put to death all day long, we are considered sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are SUPERCONQUERORS, through the one who has loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor other heavenly rulers, neither what exists not what is coming, neither powers above nor powers below, nor any other created thing will be able to seperate us from the Love of GOD ADONAI which comes to us through the MESSIAH YESHUA, Our LORD."

You must understand the whole of life,
Not just one little part of it.
That is why you must read,
That is why you must look at the skies.
That is why you must sing and dance, and write poems,
And suffer, and understand, for all that is life.
~J.Krishnamurti

Peace

Do everything with a mind that lets go. Don't accept praise
or gain or anything else. If you let go a little you will have a
little peace; if you let go a lot you will have a lot of peace; if
you let go completely you will have complete peace.

Come, fill the Cup, and in the Fire of Spring

Daily Buddhist Wisdom

"Non-viloence means dialogue, using our language, the human language. Dialogue means compromise, respecting each others rights; in the spirit of reconciliation there is a real soulution to conflict and disagreement. There is no hundred percent winner, no hundred percent loser - not that way but half-and-half. That is the practical way, the only way."

His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Look to this day,
For it is life,
The very life of life.
In its brief course lie all
The realities and verities of existence,
The bliss of growth,
The splendor of action,
The glory of power--

for yesterday is but a dream,
And tomorrow is only a vision,
But today, well lived,
Makes every yesterday a dream
of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore, to this day.
