STALLONE calling SEAGAL ..

I hope it's true....but again we see the name Nicolas Cage. Everytime he is in an article about EX3, I start to doubt because the last 2 weeks Cage himself has said in different interviews that he is not in EX3 and that he is irritated about the press and the media because everytime they attach his name on this project.

From now on and until EX3 starts filming, I will not post in this thread unless I got news on Steven Seagal's involvment in The Expendabales 3.

If he does have some involvement it may not necessarily be evident upon commencement of filming; from what I know, the EX2 script was changed even during production in response to late additions.. also remember that the church scene from the first film was shot with minimal crew and so not disclosed until the publicist wrote about it a few days later.. anything is possible yet..

I also wouldn't be too sure about the cast arriving next week. I don't think this is going to start filming that soon. Word out of Bulgaria keeps suggesting this, but it's not a great source, or could be lost in translation. I think perhaps Sly and some of the crew will go and just check out the locations etc, and finish working on the script. There are probably deals to be done with cast too.

All I know is that Dolph Lundgren is due to work on the film for 2-3 months so he's likely going to be involved for almost all the shoot like Exp 2. Currently he's still filming his TV show probably until end of September at least. I'd be amazed if they were even as a close as a month away from cameras rolling on Exp 3 because their doesn't appear to be a script ready just yet. We'll see. This wouldn't be the first time in the Expendables history of conflicting information. The second film had a lot of suggestion it would be filming a couple of months before they actually did start.

As for the Harrison Ford rumours, I'll believe it when I see it. Sly's got ahead of himself in the past so we'll have to wait and see. That would be immensely cool if it happened.

First of all: They ARE arriving next week. The scouting of locations were done weeks ago, and Sly has already left, he has made some pitstops and will be in Bulgaria by next week along with the others. The shooting will start August 19 or 20. Official sources + some the actors has stated it!!

Second of all: The script for EX2 wasn't finished either when they started filming, Sly was still writing on the script while they were filming.

Third: Dolph arrives in beginning of September, so they'll start shooting some scenes where Dolph is not involved, thats pretty commen.

This is the one area I really hope Sly is different this time. The first two films were all over the place narratively. He chopped and changed far too much on set, and added in a lot of really pointless humour scenes that weren't actually funny.
If they've got a good script to start with, they should only need to make minor changes as they go, rather than Sly just tearing up pages and starting again on a day to day basis.

If anyone hasn't checked out Red Hill by Patrick Hughes, they should. I thought it was a really good modern western. Beautifully shot and fairly well written too. I hope Hughes gets a free reign to direct. He could make an absolutely brilliant Expendables film.

Harrison Ford is in. He confirmed this when he was in Jimmy Kimmel Show. You can find it on YouTube.
Also there is now news that Antonio Banderas is the latest addition to EX3. Mel Gibson will be the main villain.
Bruce Willis is officially out. Nicholas Cage is out, but still no official word about Steven Seagal...

Boaz Davidson posted on his FB page about the cast. He mentioned all the names but there was no mention of Chan or Seagal. He would be in the know as one of the execs of Millenium. Perhaps a deal for both might be made later in the shoot but it seems unlikely.

All I can is, horrible move if he does not take it. Just plain sad. To have not one, but 2 opportunities at an Expendables movie, and pass it up is a dick move if you ask me. Maybe we'll get a Today You Die part 2 or something

We can't be too sure if he's even had a proper offer this time. Talking to Sly is one thing but the guys at Millennium have got so much baggage with Seagal it's going to be difficult for either them or Seagal to back down from their argument.
Stallone might want it but it's very unlikely the Lerners would actually give an offer the green light. We'll see. It might still happen but chances are slim. If this was any other studio doing the picture, I don't think we'd have as much of problem. Seagal proved his willing to do ensemble work with Machete.

An executive producer from Millenium films, Boaz Davidson, posted the main cast on his facebook page:

Stallone,Statham,Ford,Gibson,
Lundgren,Snipes,Li,Couture,
Banderas,Rousey,Crews,
Schwarzenegger,Ortiz,Lutz.

I don't currently have a facebook account but this is the page it came from - http://www.facebook.com/boaz.davidson.5/posts/10151795192738658 - maybe you can see if there are any follow up messages/replies from Boaz.

At this point we can say that Seagal definitely won't have a major part in this film, however there is still a likelihood that he may be a late addition and take part when production goes to the US.. Stallone said on twitter that he spoke to Seagal while he was in Russia and he was keen if the part fit.. there hasn't been anything since - also remember that Gibson was initially said to not be interested, so anything is possible yet.. if he does, a small part like Rourke in the first film would be good..

Am i the only one who dosent want Seagal in this film

look at the cast list that Davidson has given....14 actors all wanting their share of the limelight and if Seagal was added now what would we expect....5 minutes screen time

for me i only want Seagal in this if he has at least 30 mins plus screen time otherwise id rather he did his own films with a couple of established stars like on FOE

It might make more sense to save Seagal, and also Chan, for Expendables 4. The 3rd film is bound to make money, meaning a 4th is bound to happen.

Well he is only in about 5 minutes of his recent movies too and he is the lead character. :D

Just kidding, even if it is only 5 minutes appearance at least it will be in a movie that will actually do not bad box office business and therefore may open a few doors for him that have been closed.

Lets all face it Seagal is out, and that fool Banderas and the old wanker Ford is in. Too bad but thats the truth. Seagal deserved it more than they did.

Apparently a confirmation of the cast from Millennium may arrive within the next week so let's see.. Also the production is only starting in Bulgaria - it will move back to US at some stage, so we may hear more about Rourke, Chan, Seagal and the other uncertainties by that time..

I dunno why you refer to Ford as an "old wanker" though? It's a great cast of people prolific in the genre, and it is a shame that Seagal may not be alongside them, but that's not because they don't want him.. Sly wanted him for the first one and commented on twitter a few months ago about speaking directly with Seagal about EX3..

Ford is a VERY accomplished actor. He well deserves the role and I am very much looking forward to seeing him with these other big action stars. Still hope to see Seagal in there. Let's just wait and see.

It wouldn't even be a problem if Seagal didn't have a character written in his script for Big Papa. He rewrites on a daily basis and could fit him in later on in the shoot. Perhaps Seagal can come in to establish his character, and play a bigger part in the fourth film. Who knows?
