Movies Today You Die Trailer

"Lookin fit Nelson"
Im going to have to wait and see, the trailer is showing more promise then the previous ones...but what is "HE WALKS LIKE A BLACK MAN, HE BREATHES LIKE A KILLER." That is one of the most stupidest lines I've ever heard, and I've watched a lot of badddd movies. Honestly though, Seagal looks as in bad shape as he has been, and so even with as much promise as the action scenes looked for the brief few seconds I have to disagree with many who have already claimed this movie to be the return to the old formula, "as good as the classics." I just can't agree there on what I've seen so far. I noticed that there is sum dubbing as well and know the fact about the walking off problems and budget problem lawsuits.

In conclusion I don't think this movie will be above anything he has done lately. Sorry, just have to wait and see though, although I am quite disappointed that he is still looks so messy and hasn't hit the gym...

I've got to dissapoint you guys, the chase in vegas which you can see in the trailer is from another movie: Top of the world

Hey guys,
You know what...that was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the trailer. Look at all the cars/vehicles in the chase scene...they are ALL old models, so it looks like they've just pulled all the 'chase' action sequences from other films, just like in Ticker. And with those production issues, a low budget, the dubbing, stunt doubles, etc...I think it's safe to say that the movie will NOT live up to that kickass trailer. And since Mercenary was directed by the same guy who did Today You Die and has similar production issues, expect the same in that film too! Just my opinion, but what a letdown for fans expecting some originality.

Yeah, looks good. It´s a movie concept between Exit Wounds & Half Past Dead, Steven lose some weight and he is handsome and have better screen presence, except the brown coat that makes him fatter, but bigger man, and I think that Steven likes to look big.
It´s an action-packed movie.I don´t expect any spectacular long fight, only his early classical short deadly fights, but I love it anyway.
Yes I think it could be his best DTV film.
Thanks Nick, and of course, thanks Craig and Haniball for the downloaded clip.ç
Love everyone

they reused a chase scene.......... :mad4:

I think this is a good decision. Why spend money on a chase scene that already has been recorded. The money spared here may have been used to raise the production value of other scenes. And by the way that movie which had these scened didn't have such a wide audience that TYD has, so if the director is competent enough, not very much people are going to realise that this is a stock scene.

I think you're right Kcs. The chasescene just looks good. So why complain?

The trailer looks quite good but it doesn´t mean that the movie will be.
The dubbing of his voice is terrible. He looks fat as always in his last movies.
And he doesn´t fight by himself in some of his fights.

Just saw the trailer. Three things bother me.

1). Seagal's double can be seen in the trailer kicking someone. Great!!!

2.) His voice is ludicrously dubbed in the trailer. Strike two!

3.) The action scenes are indeed from other Nu Image movies. The chase scene as someone pointed out, is from Top of the World, the shots of the prison are from Undisputed and the explosion is from No Code of Conduct.

How good can the movie be when it's production values are so low that they're taking action scenes from other movies??????? Not even the cheap and nasty Out for A Kill sunk that low.

I know ther are people who are raving over this trailer, and hopefully these inserted scenes are just in the trailer, but it ain't looking good. Doesn't it bug you fans out there that Seagal keeps making these sub par, low budget flicks that have other scenes stitched into them? And spare me the "Seagal has nothing to do with it" line because he is one of the producers of this film.

People are forgetting for some reason that this is one of the two movies he was sued over for not showing up, screwing with the script, and thereby necessitating that the production company reduce the budget because he wasn't there. Less money means they were forced to steal scenes from other movies simply because Seagal took off. This movie will suck big time, probably even more than Ticker, The Foreigner, and Out For A Kill.

I have a feeling that Mercanary - the other film he was sued over, may not even be released, or will suffer the same fate of stoeln scenes, dubbing and stunt doubles, because the studio will have to make its money back somehow, even if it is filming without him.

Why should the company spend hundred thousand dollars to shoot those exterior shots that they already have???

Why should the company spend hundred thousand dollars to shoot a car chase on a street if a car chase has already been shot on the same street?

Nearly every movie uses stock footages, even if it is surprising for you.

Nu Image is notorious for using stock footage. Just read a review or rent Raging Sharks which borrows heavily from numerous other Nu Image Films and even some footage from the Discovery Channel ;)

I just watched the Trailer for Top of the World and surprise, surprise what do I see? The exact same police car twirling through the air with the loud and flashy explosion behind it. Indeed the same exact shot and to my amusement the movie also takes place in Las Vegas. This just implies there might be many other shots used throughout the movie borrowed from the Top of the World Film.

Perhaps I exaggerated slightly with my enthusiastic review of the Trailer. But in a way I was very realistic to point out all the negative things. The two exchanges we see before the Prison Part are actually from the same fight and he looked doubled somewhat. Even the Prison Fight is ridiculous. I enjoyed the hand break but everything else was shot deceivingly. Never did I see his face. I had hopes because of the Writer who while not the most original individual in the world did write the much praised Replicant and contributed to In Hell.

P.S Quick Question For gunslinger: Is this the same Prison we seen in Our For A Kill/In Hell by any chance? It looked similar in this Trailer and I never really seen Undisputed to compare.

Nick,

In Hell and Out for a Kill had their interior scenes shot at the same building in Bulgaria which Nu Image apparently owns. The exterior shots of the prison in TYD match the ones of the prison from Undisputed, which I think was shot in Nevada or something.

Translation. Interiors of TYD shot in Bulgaria (maybe not the same one though), exterior shot stolen from Undisputed which was shot in the US.

I still don't know how people can just say it's okay to use other scenes from other movies. That's just poor showmanship and it's inexcusable. I thought the whole point of shooting these movies in Bulgaria was because it was cheap. What do you buy for $15 million dollars these days? Not bloody much by the look of it.

Is Nasso Back? :) Towards which expects of the film is this money going to? Unless it basically went inside Steven's pocket and was never heard from again ;)

Like I told Glimmer, Bulgaria is a lovely place and contains enough interesting locations to depict in a film. I remember visiting some ruins which would be perfect for villains in the film to meet and conspire etc

These people are clearly not professionals. I hope this Film isn't as terrible as I think it might turn out to be but only time will tell.
