Top Ten Martial Arts Movies

My quest continues...

And please don't list ten Seagal films or I will go insane with rage!

1. Enter The Dragon (Bruce Lee, 1973) - The martial arts movie by which all others are judged. Plot, dialogue, characters and acting is superb and the MA techniques displayed are some of the best ever captured on film.

2. Fist Of Legend (Jet Li, 1994) - Comes a close second. This movie contains some of the most breathtaking martial arts sequences ever filmed including a fight sequence in which both actors are blindfolded and a 10 minute+ climatic fight at the end of the movie.

3. Once Upon In China 1 and 2 (Jet Li, 1991 and 1992) - Two excellent movies which show what happens when the Western World collides with traditional China: people get brutally twatted! The second movie is possibly the better of the two, but only because it features Donnie Yen in a cool fight scene with Jet Li.

4. Drunken Master 2 (Jackie Chan, 1994) - One of Jackie's best movies, with creative fight scenes, amazing acrobatics and dangerous stunts. The US version has unfortunately been altered from the original Chinese version.

5. Marked For Death (Steven Seagal, 1990) - My personal favourite Seagal film in terms of the quality of the martial arts on display.

6. Iron Monkey (Donnie Yen, 1993) - A Hong Kong version of Robin Hood. The fight scenes in this movie are ambitious and very entertaining and Donnie Yen has amazing foot speed.

7. Return Of The Dragon (Bruce Lee, 1973) - The last 'complete' Bruce Lee film is full of awesome fight sequences and the final fight between Bruce and Chuck Norris is one of the best ever.

8. Kiss Of The Dragon (Jet Li, 2002) - Jet delivers the goods once again, with his best film since 'Fist Of Legend'. The fight scenes are brutal and the climatic final fight with the two twins is awesome!

9. Rapid Fire (Brandon Lee, 1992) - The last 'complete' Brandon Lee film before his untimely death on the set of 'The Crow' is about a man who witnesses a gangland murder and is then forced to fight for his life against the gangsters who are out to stop him from talking. The martial arts sequences are awesome and the action never lets up for a minute.

10. Out For Justice (Steven Seagal, 1991) - Another excellent movie by the big man, containing what is easily his most brutal fight scene (the one between Gino and Richie). The fight in the bar is also excellent.

11. The Karate Kid (Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, 1984) - Just kidding about this one...
