"True Justice : Lethal Justice Part 1" Review!

Well well, in this episode, Elijah Kane (Steven Seagal) and his team are having to deal with this dangerous group known as "New Hope Arian Nation". A group well known to winning local elections in every way possible. After having saved a young female worker from the SVB after she was raped, Kane teaches both Robert and Anue (Ty Olsson, Jared Keeso) the criminals a verbal lesson. They say they're working for "New Hope" and reveal these company tattoos on their fists. Kane interrogates them around a little, finding out their affiliation.

Meanwhile, Juliet Saunders (Meghan Ory) is threatened and spun out of control when the District Attorney, Lisa Clayton (Tia Carrere) has released a serial rapist, Kenneth (Fulvio Cecere) reluctantly, and Juliet becomes enraged, and almost assaults a worker there. At the SIU, Attorney Clayton talks with Juliet, asking her questions about her riled up anger towards the reluctant release of Kenneth.

Afterwards, Clayton talks with Kane about Juliet's behaviours in her detective duties, and about the suspected serial rapist she had to let go of. She also discusses about the dangerous elections with him. About a car being blown up in a massive explosion after the one election. Kenneth's lingering around a neighbourhood, where Andre Mason (William "BIGSLEEPS" Stewart) and Juliet are waiting out in a car, in this neighbourhood, talking about why Juliet has a deep interest in this suspect. She doesn't say much, and Kenneth from his townhouse window watches down on the street, and Juliet feels emotionally impaired, lost to say much.

Back at the SIU, Sheriff Graves (Adrian Hough) talks with the team about the "New Hope" group. Willing to take the job as an undercover member of "New Hope" Brett Radner (Warren Christie) wins the position. Back within the dangerous neighbourhood where both Anue and Robert came from, Juliet and Sarah Montgomery (Sarah Lind) talk some more, and decide to confront the two. When things turn out bad for them, Juliet and Sarah protect themselves in order not to get raped by either two, They reveal themselves as detectives of SIU. Then they run into Sheriff Deputy Sergeant Peter Ryan, and he stalls them both.

Inside the Seattle Police Department, Sheriff Graves discusses about the dangerous Seattle elections "New Hope" takes on, and how some of these are scams in order to do money theft (i.e. debit, credit card theft).

Back in the SIU, Radner and Juliet are watching this video of a dangerous explosion. Kane comes inside to call Radner to come into his office, and that he discusses his cover-up plan with "New Hope". He informs him that Mason has been put in charge to detain Juliet's volatile behaviours, to keep her under control. Outside of the SIU, Mason sees if he can help out Juliet, ask her about her tremendous interest with this suspected sexual offender. With a rude exit, Juliet leaves Mason out in the staff parkinglot.

The same night, Radner is coated with some of the "New Hope"'s group tattoos, and is ready to take on this case, to see what's going on. He comes into Kane's office to get a fake identity for the group, and other items. His cover-up name - Clevis Johnson.

The next day, Mason and Juliet are back out in the neighbourhood in their vehicle, where Kenneth resides in. Mason continues to talk more with Juliet, trying to see if he can understand her interest a bit more. Not being able to say much, yet again, Juliet continues on with her "tough-chick" attitude. Radner, or Clevis meets up with both Robert and Anue who fall for his fake identity, and allows him to be part of the group. Back at the SIU, Sarah, Radner, and Juliet are talking again about Radner's undercover. About his acceptance to "New Hope". He tells them some information about this group. Juliet is emotionally riled up again, and starts to get her "tough-chick" persona back, mainly about Kenneth, and then leaves both Radner and Sarah in the SIU, confused, but also worried about Juliet. They're suspecting that she may have a connection with this newly released criminal.

Outside Kenneth's townhouse, Juliet is back in her car, and watches Kenneth closely as he looks out from his window again, down onto the street. Then, she's horrified by these violent memories of being held down to a bed, and being raped by Kenneth. The memories cloud her mind as she sits there in her car, and gets another wave of these violent flashbacks of being continually sexually assaulted by him, quite awhile ago. Not being able to hold back in the haunting past about her rape, Juliet comes out of her car, and confronts her past rapist, and gives him a warning. She leaves Kenneth in deep fear, and is even more riled up by the rape he's done to her in the past.

Radner, or rather "Clevis" is with Anue and Robert of "New Hope", trying out different information-seeking methods on them.

Back at the SIU, Mason confronts Juliet again, and urges her to tell everyone what's been going on with her, and this convict. Juliet is still not revealing about her traumas of her rape to him nor anyone else. Mason gets even more concerned for her, and advises her to talk about it, or whatever to the team at SIU.

Afterwards, Radner is at the headquarters of "New Hope" in his cover-up alias of Clevis. He talks with Robert some more, trying to gain valuable information out of them. The main one, then talks with Sheriff Ryan, and the two leave each other after a little heated argument. Outside in the dark inside of car, "Clevis" is with both Robert and Anue. They're both smoking some weed in a long thin green pipe. One of them offers him a hit from it. He takes it, and gives it a shot. But he fakes it instead. Both Anue and Robert are getting curious, wondering if he did take a hit from the pipe-weed.

Kane the following night leaves the SIU, and is on a mission to look out for the "New Hope" organization, Sheriff Graves is doing the same, but inside of his sheriff's car. Sarah is also assigned to take part in this case for "New Hope".

Being aggravated by the memories of her rape again, Juliet is uptight incensed. She bolts out from her chair, and is intent on doing something with her rapist. Radner, "Clevis" is back in the car with Anue and Robert and ends up remembering him being with Sarah in the SIU, and has a thick bandage wrapped up around his right forearm of an assault. He jokes with her, and they laugh with each other. Radner feels annoyed of this past assault and sulks it out.

Afterwards, Juliet leaves the SIU, and goes to hunt down her rapist, and comes up to Kenneth's door as he's stepping outside, and he sees her, and starts to run for it, she purses him, with a long baton, and chases him in, and kills him for sexually assaulting her in the past. Radner and Juliet meet up in the SIU again, and talk about where Juliet has been. He tries to break into her, with his concerns. Juliet ends up giving in, and confides in him her dark secret about being sexually offended by Kenneth. This leaves him very heart broken. He's wordless, and incredibly saddened. He follows her out in the parkinglot, and talks to her some more about her rape. She is still traumatized over it, and that it explains why she's been so tough and rough on others, even her coworkers.

From afar, the two members of "New Hope" see both Radner and Juliet together, and get this idea in their mind. The same night, Anue comes into Radner's residence and threatens him with a gun. Back at the SIU parkinglot, Juliet is kidnapped by Robert, and is hand-gagged and dragged away by him. Meanwhile, while lacing up his shoes while being threatened by Anue, he makes a deal about annihilating his boss, Kane. He ends up following him back to the SIU and readies his sniper weapon to shoot Kane. Anue waits in the car while he makes the shot. He reluctantly does so, and Kane gets defensive, and pulls his out.

Within the headquarters of "New Hope", both Anue and Robert meet up with Sheriff Ryan, telling them of another plan to kill off Kane. After Juliet's sudden disappearance, the team is getting together to go and find her and bring her back to safe arms. They look around, high and dry, around the headquarters of "New Hope". Kane comes out to meet Robert, who has something tucked in his car. He tells him that everything should be left in the past, but that his crimes won't go unnoticed, and Kane meets up with Sheriff Graves again. They speak to Robert some more. Sheriff Graves takes Robert out of his car, and notices the bomb hidden in it, and informs Kane about it.

The next day, Radner is led up the stairs of the headquarters by Anue and is taken to a room where he finds Juliet sitting in a chair, her hands tied up. He had no idea that she was there, since he's been busy dealing with his cover-up case for "New Hope". He runs into Ryan and Ryan negotiates some sort of deal with him - To kill Juliet. Radner hesitantly holds a gun right to her head, and doesn't know what to do, since he's outnumbered by Anue, Robert, Ryan, and the other members of the segregation. Kane and the team are inside the same building, going up the stairs, and get stunned when a member tries to shoot them down. But they are no chance as the team passes through them with minor bullet injuries and goes to arrest the other members and rescue Juliet and Radner. Now that they're all together, they make up a plan to take them out. Kane starts to unearth the scum Ryan and keeps his gun pointed at him. He makes Ryan confess of his actual plans. Ryan becomes rude, and tries to attack Kane. Kane literally throws him around, and beats him up gently, and pins him down to the table, arresting him afterwards.

Back at the SIU, Sarah and Juliet are at the bullpen, talking to each other. Sarah wonders more about her volatile behaviours. Juliet doesn't want to talk about it. But it's as though Sarah already knew the reasoning behind these violent behaviours. Outside in the parkinglot, Radner meets up with Kane while Kane is in his truck. Radner says he only wants to help Juliet, and Kane agrees with him. They will take care of her. Kane then talks to Juliet, about her safety, and his apologies. She is stressed, still traumatized, and still lost...

Very good and detailed reviews, and brings it to the point: Entertaining series (overall), possibly improving in season 2, but bad releasing especially in the UK.

Yes, I have...:)

What did you think of the 2nd Season if you compare it to the 1st Season?
Can we expect some good action and fightscenes?
What about voicedubbing?
Did you get the feeling that it was 1 story during the whole season, or are there some episodes who stand on their own?
What about the last episode? Do we get a cliffhanger again? (Don't spoil anything please?)

I have seen the first two "movies" ("Vengeance is mine" and "Blood Alley") so far and thought that they did a better job than in season 1 so far. The optical is better than in season 1, the fights are a bit better and longer, and the stories are more interesting. And I really like the new team. So I hope the other episodes will be entertaining too and they won't change the team again, if they will make a third season.

What did you think of the 2nd Season if you compare it to the 1st Season? better than S1 with a bigger budget, better fights etc

Can we expect some good action and fightscenes? yes there is more action and the fights are shot better and not always close up like s1

Did you get the feeling that it was 1 story during the whole season, or are there some episodes who stand on their own? no the whole season is one long story and it doesnt end either

What about the last episode? Do we get a cliffhanger again? there is nothing to spoil has it doesnt really have a ending and there has to be another season with the way it ended...in other words its not has good an ending has S1

it starts well up to about episode 8 onwards were i started to lose interest a bit....the ending is a bit of a let down and i wasnt really sure what happened(i was only half watching has a became a bit bored by episode 13)

i think watching it 13 weeks running was too much and maybe for those that watch them has films with a few months between films might not get bored like i did

another thing is there is no decent guest star like S1

@rastafari:

Do you have a favorite episode? And who is the director of episode 13?

every episode after the first 4 had individual titles rhather than part 1-2

the best episdoes were the ones that lauro chartrand directed

actually the first 8 episodes were ok than it went a bit downhill for me

there was one episode(episode 10 i think) which had seagal and his team sat round a table discussing the plot and contained no action apart from flashbacks(i have no idea how they are gonna put that episode into a movie)

also seagal appears less and less the more the series goes on with the other people having more screen time(seagal is either sat in his car and or doing a short fight scene)

the last episode is directed by wayne rose(who does alot better job than he did in s1)

I just viewed Deadly Crossing and must confess it was not as bad as I expected. Deadly Crossing is certainly a cut above his recent Maximum Conviction. But, having said that it is like saying I Dream of Jeannie is better than Petticoat Junction.

The basic story line of an elite squad busting up the bad guys was ok. The production values, with a few exceptions, were reasonable. The supporting cast actually seemed to have actors who had passed Acting 101 and who attempted some sort of character development.

Now for the problems. First, this was obviously two ‘episodes’ strung together and the editing was sloppy. For example, there is a scene where Seagal works over a car jacker and that scene is featured twice. There are moments where the images are fast forwarded to no dramatic or cinematic effect. Also, the pistolS when fired don’t have any Dirty Harry boom, but sound like cap guns.

There are problems with Seagal and his character. Seagal has developed this bizarre accent that is part ‘hood’, a dose of ‘hush my mouth y’all’ Southern drawl and part Banjo Boy from that old flick Deliverance. Add to this the fact that he calls everybody ‘Man’ whether or not they are male or female.

Seagal is a big unit. He is fat and cumbersome. For all the world he looks like a guy whose cholesterol level would be measured in double digits. He spends most of his time sitting around in a 4 wheel drive or behind a big desk. When he is on the move he walks around in slow motion and is uncoordinated. In one of the few fight scenes we see him mainly from the waist up and he is bolted to the one spot with the bad guy charging at him. (Want to get away from Seagal? Just start running he’ll never catch you!)

Finally, there is the persona of the man himself. He’s developed bags under his eyes the size of Samsonite luggage. Add to this his bulbous nose and jet black hair and it’s not all that pretty a picture. But don’t worry all the young ladies in Deadly Crossing are drooling at the mouth in hopes of snagging him.

Unfortunately Seagal has gone from being an action hero to an inaction one. What goes through his mind when he looks at himself in this material we can only guess.

So, it’s not all that bad when you compare it to the other tripe he’s done, but I am not holding my breath that he will get an Emmy for this.

Found this "behind the scenes" video for the first episode of Season 2:

Maybe I will try to rewatch the series one day. I remember season 1 being halfway decent (apart from way too much unnecessary flashbacks) and Season 2 starting pretty good but going downhill in the second half because of a confusing storyline.

And the series did not have a proper ending, as far as I know?
