Your Favorite T.V Series?

I would like to know which TV series was your favorite?
Cab you describe this series and tell what you liked most about it?

Good thread, Lonewolf!

CSI (Crime Scene Investigation)--the original--has been my favorite drama since it came out, about five years now. It has won several Emmy Awards, and also Golden Gobe, and has spawned the CSI: Miami and CSI: New York series.

It's intelligently written, medically accurate in most cases--from what I can tell :D (although they do mispronounce a few words here and there LOL)--and can sometimes keep you guessing up to the very end--especially when they throw in a new "clue" at the very end no one could have ever known about. :D

And another big plus, in my opinion, is they don't clutter up the scripts with all kinds of personal melodramas going on between the main characters. I don't think a good series needs soap opera type affairs, sub-subplots, etc. going on between the characters. They concentrate on what they do best--doing their job and solving crimes. Great show!

Here's a synoposis from Amazon:

Based on real life Las Vegas crime scene investigators, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION follows the team as they solve chilling cases with innovative thinking and methodical scientific inquiry. Tackling cases peppered with grisly details, the Las Vegas PD Criminalistics Division is the #2 crime lab in the U.S., solving crimes that practically every other crime lab has given up on.

I don't watch as many series as I did at one time!
But I love the Law and Order Shows!
They have several ones that are very!

Criminal/Drama Series!

Law and Order- Usually murder beginning the police investigation through the trial!

Law and Order
Criminal Intent- High profile crimes!!

Law and Order
Special Victims- Sexual based crimes!! Usually sad stories!!

And I think this past season they started a new one! Have not watch it yet!

You'd also be surprised how many terms professors mispronounce, too!

Seinfeld
The Cosby Show
The Daily Show
Cheers

CSI (whatever's on Spike tv)

I also remember liking Quincy, Columbo, and Equalizer (that Jag looked so cool at the time!).

Why do I like the shows? The first 4 mentioned are just great sitcoms. I'd say that Seinfeld is arguably unbeatable. CSI I love just because it's in my specialty. The remaining I liked for the mysterious investigative work (it also taught you that just smoking a cigar won't solve you crimes :D ).

Great thread!

I also find it interesting that 3 characters, who are in leading spots on the different Law and Order's have appeared in Seagal movies!
Jerry Orbach, Ice-T and BD Wong!

Professors too, eh?

And my favorite comedy for the last year or so has been Two-and-a-Half Men, starring Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer. :D It's not quite as funny as when it first started out, but it can still make me laugh out loud. He's such a pig--and proud of it! :D

And Yudansha, that's the original CSI, with Gil Grissom and his team, on Spike TV. :) Even though I've seen them all, I still watch them in the evenings from time to time.

Good observation, Lollipop! :)
I've never seen any of those shows, but I know they're very popular.

Do you mean that old show from the mid 1980's, Yudansha? With Edward Woodward? His character helped people who had nowhere else to turn? Always helping the underdog. If that's the one you mean, I remember it well! I really enjoyed that show! :) I liked that he was an older gentleman. Doesn't always have to be some young hero! :D

I also used to really like The Pretender, who kind of did the same thing--helped people, without looking for anything in return, although Jared was always on the run from The Center. It was a very good show, until they swamped themselves with so many sub-plots and conspiracies I gave up on it, and it finally was canceled.

I do. It was one of my favourites at the time. McCall was just so - coldblooded which sorted oddly with that dignified look and English accent. I wonder if they're rerunning it somewhere? A moot question - my tv's busted, anyhow.

P.S. Hello, Yu!

Yes, Serena, that's the one!

What a cool car it was, eh?! That's what drew me in. Apparently there is a plan for a movie.

The Pretender was another great one I liked. I haven't seen it in such a long time that I forgot all about it. Jared loved his cars, too. :D

P.S. Hello, Woj. :D

The Pretender was great - I didn't watch it at first, because the previews didn't do it justice, then once I got into it, I couldn't stop. It and Profiler got cancelled without warning and both were top 10 shows (although The Pretender was having a few too many jumping the shark episodes towards the end).

I also liked The District, The Agency (which in my opinon was way better than Alias), and The Guardian, all excellent shows on CBS, all canned for no apparent reason, and now the latest casualty at CBS is Joan of Arcadia (a show with an original idea to be replaced by a show that is a blatant ripoff of ABC's Medium. Go figure.).

Other favourites: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, The Adventures of Sinbad, The A-Team, Tales of the Brass Monkey (who remembers that one, since it was only on the air for about five minutes?) and things I liked and shouldn't admit to: Kung Fu The Legend Continues, Martial Law, Xena, Warrior Princess, and Hercules.

Medium is about the only show left on my "must watch" list, everything else I enjoyed watching this year has been canned or altered beyond endurance (Judging Amy is now Running for Office Amy, West Wing was boring beyond belief this year, they killed off one of my favourite characters on NCIS, and William Petersen is supposed to be leaving CSI next season because he's pissed at all of the spin-offs taking focus of the Las Vegas show).

All moot, until I get my tv fixed. (sigh)

Martial Law!

That was a great show!! So that reminds me of another favourite of mine - Walker Texas Ranger. (and Kung Fu of course was great)

Like most of you guys all my friends here in Sweden loves C.S.I. But I'm not a fan of that series.

My heart is in all of those good comedy shows like "Cheers", "Frasier" and "Seinfeld".

And last week I bought a DVD with the sitcom "Newsradio" with the late Phil Hartman who I love for all his work. This show was really great. It's a bit of a new favorite at the moment. I'm sad that Hartman was taken from us so early in his life.
I hope they will release the remaning seasons of the show. The show was never aired here in Sweden and that is strange, the comedy of the show is perfect. Witty and mean somethimes... All good!
"Newsradio" has a super great cast. Besides Hartman, there is Dave Foley ("Kids in the hall"), Andy Dick (from MTV) and Maura Tierney ("ER"), the great actor Stephen Root as the owner of the station Jimmy James.
The Plot is...
NewsRadio" is a sitcom that explores office politics, relationships, and crises through a group of co-workers at WNYX NewsRadio, New York's #2 newsradio station.

Airwolf - yikes. Jan Michael Vincent was sliding deeper into the black hole of alcoholism with each episode, and once they wrote him out of the show, the show just failed.

He tried pulling himself together a few years back, and appeared on Don Johnson's "Nash Bridges" (also a great show, I loved the chemistry between Johnson and Cheech Marin) in a couple of eppies as Nash's missing brother, but I think the recovery didn't last long and down he slid back into the bottom of a bottle.

Baa Baa Black Sheep (also known as Black Sheep Squadron) was also one of my favourites!

Gotta love MacGyver. Speaking of which, another good show is Stargate SG:1. And as long as we're on the topic of science fiction, Farscape is by far and away the BEST science fiction show I have ever seen. (Oh, if they'd only had as good writers on the Star Trek spin-offs....)
