Pig Problems
The story of the three little pigs can no longer be told to the students at the Park Road Nursery and Elementary School in the town of Batley, in West Yorkshire, England. The reason is that there is a large number of Muslim pupils at the school and pork and pig products are forbidden in the Muslim faith. Therefore, school officials decided, the story of the three little pigs "could have caused offense to religious sensitivities."

That's silly...After-all, They aren't EATING pork in the story...
But I guess it's offensive to them because they think pigs are generally filthy...I know egyptians didn't like our dogs much...
Oh, well...The little muslim kids are missing out on a cute little story...It's a shame...However, we do need to be tolerant...

Actually, I do believe that the true intension of the ‘Wolf’ was to eat the pigs. mm-mmm... they are delicious.

England is not a muslim country, so why should they adapt to muslim ways. If muslims get offended at a childrens story, then too bad. They should be making the effort to integrate into out society, not the other way around.

Suzi,
You can buy pork in Cairo as well...And I think my father said for Americans in kuwait, pork is avaliable too, I think Saudi Arabia is much stricter, though...

Have you seen the email about the new Pepsi political correctness?

They are putting a new can with the Statue of Liberty and one with the Pledge of Allegiance. The only problem is they changed the pledge...... they removed the words "under God" from the pledge!! They say there are many Americans who don't believe in God, so they were trying to make it work for all.
I'm thinking..... if you think it is important enough to be patriotic Americans and make new cans to celebrate America (not just for advertising) why would you think as corporate executives, you could just change the wording. I guess it is for advertising and sales.

Next thing you know they'll be changing God Bless America to "Whatever you believe in, bless (or is that too controversal?) America. Perhaps we shouldn't be blessing America?

This says it all !! Majority rules!!

In God We Trust

It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God.
Therefore I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a mess about having "In God We Trust" on our money and having God in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don't we just tell the 14% to shut up and sit down????

Casey,

I think it is because the majority does not rule anymore. All someone has to say is that something is politically incorrect or insensitive and everybody runs as far away as possible from it. Heaven forbid people actually take a stand for what they believe in and stick with it. Look how much Steven has been ridiculed for his belief in Buddhism. People call him anti-christian. Obviously they don't know a lot about Buddhism!! It seems if you do take a stand you become a target for the news people and late night comics. Look how much grief they are giving those celebs who said they oppose going to war. They are entitled to have and express their opinions, whether or not anyone agrees with them.
(So much for a quick reply):D :D
