Hi everyone., once again in my search for an Aikido dojo, I found this. A school called Master Parks .. its in boardman Ohio, When I went to it to talk they said that he teaches Aikido., then when I set up an appointment to actually talk to the sensei, he gave me the sales pitch of the century. telling me that I shouldnt want to learn aikido, or any one martial art.. then he went on and on and on. then he brought up "his" way of training. Hapkiyudo, which he said is a breed of aikido, hapkido, teakwondo, tai chi, and a few others.. I searched and have found nothing on this style. but i am going to keep searching for an "aikido" dojo. Until then i guess im stuck with my limited supply of training tapes..

Hapkido, the Korean art of self defense, has gained more and more currency during the last years.
The number of people who practice Hapkido (Hapkidoin) has increased strongly.
With this site I want to give you more informations about the wonderfull martial art Hapkido.
You will find information about Hapkido history, Hapkido books, Hapkido videos, Hapkido dojangs, Hapkido events, Hapkido seminars, Hapkido links and much more stuff about Hapkido.
I arranged these site to the best of my knowledge and belief.

It is important to romember that in Hapkido the principle of Aiki is not present whereas it is the most fundamental priniple in daito-ryu aikijujutsu and in some style of Aikido (like Yoshinkan Aikido of Shioda Sensei). The reason is that Takeda Sensei didn't teach it to Hapkido founder.

lol, sales pitch? I dunno, if I went to a dojo where someone acted like they were selling something I don't think I would want to spend money/train there.

"Hapkiyoosool" is how the Koreans pronounce the calligraphy for "Aikijujutsu".
"Hapkido" is pronounced by Japanese as "Aikido".
I have never heard of "hapkiyudo". Japanese would pronounce the same calligraphy in this case as "AikiJudo". It does sound strange. I'll admit. Welcome to America.

At least it is not like the school in our town which say they teach "Hapkijujutsu" What is that??????

"Do" simply means "the way".
"sool" in Korean, "jutsu" in Japanese refers to the more military technique.

I know these things because growing up in Korea for me was no easy task being American. You have to learn or get left behind, they don't cater to Americans they way we cater to everyone else. We moved to the US in 2000 and opened our school in FL. Check it out, you may learn something new!

Good evening, I saw your message and was thinking about, I have some sites off Aikido in the USA, wich you can find a dojo for start to train. Shihan Seagal is a member off the Aikikai(the lineage of O`Sensei the founder of aikido) he is a 7 DAN. He was student of Koechi Tohei a 10 DAN who made another lineage more in search of the KI "vital life" or "energy". But a recomend to you a aikikai dojo.

Some student of shihan Seagal remains in he`s old dojo the Tenshin,www.tenshindojo.us

the sites

www.aikiweb.com
www.aiki.com
www.aikido-world.com
www.aikikai.or.jp (japanese site Hombu Dojo HQ)

Good luck in your search, ask GOD to help you.

PS
A tip, by the book of Kisshomaru Ueshiba(son of O`Sensei) the Spirit of Aikido.

I saw your post and was surprised at your comments. I have been training
at Master Park's for almost 4 years now and know that this program is
probably one of the finest available today. My martial arts training began
almost 30 years ago.In that time I've had the honor of training with many
fine people in the Korean arts,as well as making friends with people from
other disciplines.

You're comments, while maybe unintentional, show a lack of understanding
and a lack of respect for the martial arts.

I wish you luck in your search for the training you seek.

Sincerely,

Bill
