How Has The Martial Arts Changed You?

It's made me more dangerous-I'm not kidding. Not in the sense that I would go and look for trouble, but that I realize exactly what I have learned, and what it could do to somebody else if I were to implement the techniques to their full potential. That's a very humbling thought.

But it's also good. I would not study a martial art that didn't have dangerous techniques. I've said it time and time again, but a martial art which does not have a reasonable level of self-defense training is not a martial art. It may be a sport; it may be a dance, but it's not a martial art.

Aikido has made me a stronger and more compassionate person. It has offered me a clarity that had been missing in my prior training. I've learned to harmonize with those around me not only physically, but mentally and spiritually as well. In doing so it has allowed a whole new perspective on life and each individual person that enters it.
