Yakuza having problems getting a director

This just in from UK film reporter Jon Marsh...

"Wesley Snipes will begin work on Blade 3 in the fall of 2003 in Prague.Jet Li is currently making Danny The Dog with Morgan Freeman in Paris.The low-budget film($20M)is about a man(Li) who has a mental age of 10 but great fighting ability who teams up with a much wiser man(Freeman)to fight Corruption.Action Veteren Steven Seagal is about to star in the $35M action film Yakuza although production has been held back untill a director is found with both Cory Yuen and Stanley Tong both dropped out."

Why the hell have Corey Yuen & Stanley Tong dropped out?That sux!To have either one of them direct would've been fantastic.I wonder what the reason was for them both turning down Yakuza?At least the film still has a $ 35m budget!That is $15m more than the new Jet Li starrer Danny The Dog.

Wow, that is very bad news. I was hoping that Corey Yuen would direct "The Yakuza". I would prefer Seagal to direct it than for them to get another first time director out of the blue for this film..I got a feeling that the $35 million budget may soon be cut down as well..
What kind of movie is that what Jet Li is making? Sounds like a comedy for the likes of Jackie Chan. I guess he was willing to take any part to be in a film with a Morgan Freeman. Sounds like a real bomb though at this point..
Is'nt Franchise Films making "The Yakuza"? If so they should try and get Andrew Davis to direct this since he will not be making US3.

Franchise Pictures(division of WB)are making Yakuza.

If so they should try and get Andrew Davis to direct this since he will not be making US3.
