Chuck VS Steven: A Better Comparison?

You know, you may be onto something there. More TV exposure roles would be good for him. It was good for Damon Wayans as well. Even though Steve isn't tested like Chuck, it doesn't really matter I don't think. Remeber Van Damme wasn't a huge champ like Chuck either. He seems to have...

What a Nice and Inviting Website

I talked to Elliott Freeman, who is the instructor. He knew my pop back in the early 70's while he (Elliott) was a student at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. I stopped in his dojo two years ago, it is really nice by the way. I have not talked to him since. Here is the link to...

    MMA/Muay Thai

It has been my experience (more through observation), that Aikido as Segal showed in Above the Law and Hard to Kill, as well as the more traditional schools that follow Usheba's training style is indeed very effective in a fight. Since I am a Hapkido practitioner not Aikido, I made the above...

What a Nice and Inviting Website

Fellow martial art practitioners: I wanted to tell you that I believe that this is a very nice website. It is nice to see Aikido practitioners gathering and having general discussions. A bit about me, for I am an outsider to the Aikido realm. I have participated in Wrestling as well as...

    Please read. Need help.

I agree, it all comes down to the school. The training environment makes all the difference in the world that is for sure. In my Tae Kwon Do class we have a student that has anxiety, working forms along with the basic punching techniques helps him to relax. I also agree that most schools...

OK!How many of you are for real???

Real Fight I was in the Marine Corps folks, a lot of aggressive rough housing where people got hurt. There were several times that I was in an outright fight. I went to Haiti in 1994, Hapkido and the Batons we had saved my skin during riot control and house to house fighting several times.

I think I am over graded!

Just a thought I train in Moo Sul Kwan Hapkido and Tae Kwon Do. It seems to me that every style has it's traditional and fancy schools. The school I train at is traditional in the aspect that the Great Grandmaster who founded the school was one of the first students of Wha Kwan Wha. Wha was...

does size matter in aikido ?

Size in Aikido Nah, Size matters not. I practice Moo Sul Kwan Hapkido and Tae Kwon Do, I have also participated in Judo. At a tournament over the past weekend I watched Hapkido form and honestly I was most impressed with a brown belt woman who is 5 ft 5 and all of 125 lbs throw a man who...

Did the unthinkable (my Aikido journey)

TD, That is amazing. I am inspired and have a similar story. One I will share hopefully of inspiration. Although I do not take Aikido I have great respect for it. With that being said here is my story. As a youth and into my early 20's I was very athletic: Track, wrestling, hapkido...

    Seagal's Aikido style???

Choi and Usheba, sorry if I misspelled learned from Takeda. That is why the similiarity. However it is hard to find a good traditional hapkido school that teaches true hapkido. I know my father is a master in hapkido, his instructor learned from wha kwan wha. Wha was one of Choi's first 11...

    Seagal's Aikido style???

No Aikido School around Look for a Hapkido School or Judo. However I would go with Judo before Hapkido, here is why: It is hard to find a legitimate traditional hapkido school. I know the naysayers don't believe it to be true but it is.
