I've just finished watching it, and let me tell you.....it was the biggest pile of sh*t, i have ever watched!
And unlike movies, that don't attract me (therefore i have a built-in hate complex, and usually hate them before, and after viewing) I actually was looking forward to this.
For all it's overblown special fx, it wasn't a patch on the TV series, and what that had to say, about the manifestation of guilt and rage, in all of us.
Any child (who let's face it, this movie IS supposed, to be made for) will have fell asleep, long before the halfway mark (and this tedious movie lasts about 140 minutes)
ANG LEE (who's 'CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON...didn't do anything for me either, but i quite enjoyed THE ICE STORM) directs at a snails pace, and believe me, i watch a lot of european 'art-house', and quite enjoy 'snails-pace'
It's main problem is, it spends way too long setting up events, that are not worth the wait. 1978's SUPERMAN did pretty much the same thing, but inbetween the longuers, it infused itself, which rich, warm characters, quirky subplots, and so-on.
SPIDERMAN wipes the floor with it (and even that film was no masterpiece, either!)
And i'll bet my life, that when ang lee DOES get criticised for this travesty, it'll be claimed that THE HULK is a art movie for grown-ups........ FINE, stop selling this junk to kids.........because i don't see MCDONALDS doing SEVENTH SEAL milkshakes.....or clotheshops selling THREE COLOURS RED pyjamas!!!
The bottom line is this;
THE HULK will only succeed in doing one thing....bringing children and adults together in thinking the same thing about it:
A) it's too boring for kids
B) it's not clever/interesting enough for adults..oh yeah, and it's boring for adults, as well
And i had such high expectations for this movie
peace
