Babylon A.D. (2008) starring Vin Diesel

After finding success with two Riddick films and the first installments of the Fast and the Furious and XxX franchises Vin Diesel had a quieter period in his career. It was during this time that he made Babylon A.D. I recently rewatched this film as I had trouble understanding it on it's original release. Unfortunately I still think the film is a confusing mess. It had a lot of production problems including multiple reshoota, going overbudget and studio interferance and sadly this shows on screen. The plot is complicated and convoluted and fails to deliver an sort of satisfying conclusion. The film looks visually quite well designed but at the same time the future that it presents looks flat and uninspired. A great cast including Gerald Depardieu, Charlotte Rampling, Mark Strong and Michelle Yeoh are completely wasted especially a talented martial artist like Yeoh. I would be interested to know what other people thought of this, because although Diesel is his usual charismatic self in my opinion even he can't save this waste of talent.
