The buddha represents wiseness, enlightement. The buddha is someone who reach out something we can maybe call perfection. But he's not a god as christianism (for example) 'cos' someone wise hasn't the power to direct de lives of the man or to provoque resurrection or stuff like that.pantera said:if i can write something.
I read a book of the dalai lama where he explains that the different buddhas are not gods but just a way to visualize something abstract. In buddhism, visualization is very importanat to be able to meditate. So you have a buddha for love, mercy, chance...
Buddhism is a way to live and it's not inconsistent with other religions.
Following the dalai lama himself, you can be a catholic, a moslim or anything else and buddhist at the same time!

You're right, it's the reason why i like this forum. Everybody can speak about evreything. We have poinst of view from all over the world. It's a good thing to learn many different stuff (not only about steven seagal ). To learn about many cultures, belief...You know even if i'm not catholic (i'm sure you noticed it), i've got a bible at home. For me being interest in other religions or cultures is a way to learn about people, a way to be more tolerant and of course a way to have a bigger general culture.Julie Scarborough said:The only thing I am doing here is figuring out the "other point of view."
