Buddhism & Taoism.

Jampa,
You are right on many things. God does not belong to ONE religion. That is mankinds doing. Some people believe in only one God. Some believe in many things. I do not think it is bad to believe in God and be a Buddhist. I will be the first to admit that I do not know anything about Buddhism. Growing up I was told it is a cult. I read previous posts where several mentioned they worship Buddha even though he is not God. I will be honest I do not understand that. The Bible says to worship God alone. The books I mentioned talk about the history and archeological findings behind the Bible.
Jampa, you know girl, I was not singling one person out when I said how I felt about my contributions to the religion sections. I have felt this way many times since I started posting in these sections last spring. I never felt that anything you had to say was a "disturbing confession." Chin up girl, and stick around. When I PMed you and said I have enjoyed volleying posts with you I meant it. Really. :)
I feel it is a learning experience to read here what everyone else believes. I make a point to NEVER trash another persons faith. Who am I to judge. I am nobody. To God we are special. He thinks we ALL are special. For a couple of months at least I have been battling within my heart because of people in my everyday life, close to me and accuainances that what I say and feel does not matter. I know that has to do with low self esteem and not everyone else.
I want more than anything for everyones contributions to feel welcome here and wanted. We ALL have so much to offer. We are a diverse bunch of people. What would life be with only Vanilla ice cream?! :) BAD! We need Rocky Road, Chocolate strawberry, etc.Get my drift?
This is all from my heart. All the other points you mentioned I did not feel they were addressed to me because I did not make the statements that compelled you to reply.
PM me if you have any questions concerning what I said. I WOULD love to hear from you.
Take care,
A friend(really, I mean it)

Julie

I will offer some help here.

The one living God is exclusive to Christianity . According to the Christian doctrine it is wrong to have a belief other than Christianity. I do know that you are limiting yourself as far as Dharma goes if you believe in God or any other superior being.
As far as my reference to the "living God" , I can very well explain . If you are talking about the God of Christianity then you are refering to the " living God" . I find this simple enough in itself to understand.
I was simply making note that if you believe in the "living God" of Christianity then you are wrong according to scripture, not what I believe,to have another faith as you do.
Obviously you are not receptive to other view points. What I believe has nothing to do with the prescribed doctrines of both the belief systems you are trying to discuss. I did not make the rules.

Thank you for all the fantastic and personal replies. Religion is a mystery, where we will go is a mystery, but God is not because if you believe he is always alive- in your heart..

and your point is ?
I'm tired, it is late, and I am having a blonde moment by using comparisons that can be taken terribly wrong. Boy I love delete buttons. I just wish I beat you here.

if i can write something.
I read a book of the dalai lama where he explains that the different buddhas are not gods but just a way to visualize something abstract. In buddhism, visualization is very importanat to be able to meditate. So you have a buddha for love, mercy, chance...
Buddhism is a way to live and it's not inconsistent with other religions.
Following the dalai lama himself, you can be a catholic, a moslim or anything else and buddhist at the same time!

He also said that it was better for people to keep their original religion, and to only follow dharma if that didn't work for them.

the situation is not in being a bhuddist and another religion but it is a situation when you are another religion and want to follow the bhuddist path

Jampa,
Thank you for answering my PMs, and for being understanding of why I posted what I did.

Frequent criticizm and such for months can make a person very defensive.

I don't want to offend anybody hre but in my personal opinion I do not believe in Buddhism. I do not beleive a young Indian Prince named Siddartha sat under a tree and found enlightment and became God, I just don't tend to beleive it at all and I could never call anyone God or see anyone becoming God just for that.
