The premise for this film sounds kind of dumb to me.

All of his movies sound kinda dumb to me. I also agree with Rastafari about people going to see any crap he makes.

I actually like Jackie Chan and have enjoyed a lot of the movies he has made. I can see where you are coming from when you say that his movies "sound kinda dumb to me", because he does'nt really make serious thrillers, especially in Hollywood. Instead, he makes movies which are more action comedies which can combine slapstick and humour with martial arts and outrageously dangerous stunts. The man himself likes action and comedy but absolutly hates violence which is why he steers his films more in the direction of fantasy/humour. Maybe he is hard to take seriously, in some peoples view, but never the less, he does make some very enjoyable action movies.

I think he also is a very capable martial artist but to get a better perspective of just how efficeint he is, you should check out his Hong Kong made efforts as I find he has been watered down to an extent in Hollywood. Some of the fights/stunts in Hong Films like "Project A I &II", "The Armour Of God" and particulary the "Police Story" series are execptional and make the action men of Hollywood look like girl scouts. Chan really does suffer for his art and has broken more bones in his body performing his own stunts than most proffesional stuntmen ever have.

In movie circles, he is a one off and don't think there is anyone one else you could compare him to. Your right though, his American made films do lack the charm of his Hong Kong films (particularly the "Rush Hour" movies) but still feel he deserves respect for what he does. Finally, he also comes across as really likeable and ego-less in real life and could probably teach a lot of these stars a thing or two when it comes to humility.

Peace.

And another thing.

What really suprises me about the "Rush Hour" films is that that helium voiced, jive talking gobsh*te Chris Tucker gets paid $20 million to make these films. To me, he is not even worth 5% of that salary.

Oh f*ck does he wind me up! Why the hell could the producers not have got Martin Laurence to play that role instead.

What do the rest of you people think of Tucker?

The only film I liked Chris Tucker in was The Fifth Element (and as far as I know, I'm only one of two people who actually enjoyed The Fifth Element).

Okay, I admit it. I'm weird.

Well, I like Jackie Chan, he's funny, fast, and did all that stunwork himself I hear...Chris Tucker doesn't impress me at all, for one his mouth is way too vulgar, and he never gives it a rest, that gets really old...I mean, I don't care that guys tend to use profanity once in the while, I have even heard that Steven has a "potty mouth" at times...No everyone can help it when they get upset...Boys will be boys, and I don't want to supress their masculinity or anything, but he's just over the top with it...

When Steven uses profanity, I think it's always appropriate for the role...The character he did (Gino Felino) was a very tough, gritty guy, and very rough around the edges...I think he really got into it, and man he was sexxxy MOMMA MIA! I find it QUITE exciting if used in the right moment...He's got it and flaunts it....And oooh baby I like it...He can say whatever he wants to me, anytime... heh...;) :D ;)

Hey I like Jackie Chan dammit! *does the snake stance* Wanna Fight about it like gentlemen?! *Points to Bahamas Mike*:mad4:

And Tucker isn't that bad, he's like barba steisand, have to get used to that god aweful beak and voice...

Nope. Seagal said F**k once in Hard to Kill. It was when he and Kelly's character were inside the hotel lobby, and they were near the elevators. The door to the elevator opened, and I guess a bad guy was in it. When he saw him, he said it. But he said it under her breath, and most people probably didn't notice it. It was actually pretty natural -- not like he was delivering some line.
